IT WASN'T EVERYday that Coach Greeley visited a player personally. So when I saw him standing near the entrance to our locker room, looking intently at me, I knew that I was one of the few players who was fortunate enough to be payed a visit by him.

“All prepped up, Grey?” Coach said in an authoritative voice, that immediately had me standing up and walking towards him .

I nodded my head. “Yes, coach.”

He nodded his head in satisfaction and motioned for me to come closer to him. Looping his arm around my back, he started walking with me in the direction of our meeting point.

“I am telling you, boy, and I won't say it again. I'm glad you decided to come back, you were good - one of the best - and I haven't any clue as to why you left...but you did. But right now? I want you to go there and take the position you deserve...and show all those who think you didn't. You got it?”

I looked at Coach Greeley, partly surprised that he said all that and partly content with the way he believed in me.

“Don't worry, Coach. I'll be sure to kick some ass.”

Letting out a loud chuckle, Coach walked forward and gathered the rest of the team around him for our briefing. Talon stood in the centre, since he was Captain and I took my place next to Parker, our mid-fielder.

I listened to coach talk about the game plan and our positions. I could feel the adrenaline course through every fibre within me, I didn't realise it, bit I missed this. I missed the feeling of speeding through the players around me, with just a ball to drabble along my feet, I even missed relishing the sweet moment of scoring for your team and the team spirit that followed.

Coach dismissed us after giving us a rather pumped up pep talk and now we were back to getting ready. We had about 10-15 minutes before getting on the field for warm up, and everyone was busying themselves with the last minute stuff that came along with being an athlete.

“Okay guys,” Talon started while fiddling with his laptop and placing it on the countertop of the locker. “There is someone here who wants to wish you luck.”

A roar of cheer erupted throughout the locker room as soon as the dark screen came to life, I got up from my position to walk towards the commotion only to be greeted by a familiar voice.

“-and I know you guys are going to kick-ass out there. Come on now, go on and show 'em what we got!”

I smirked at those words, he knew just the right things to say. Always. The boys hollered in agreement and started leaving one by one, leaving only me and Talon behind. I looked at Talon, who pointed at the screen and motioned for me to finish up and come out. I nodded in his direction and then directed my gaze at the person on the screen.

“It's good to see you back in the game, Grey.”

“Says the guy who isn't here anymore.” I let out, only to receive a stern look in response.

“Braydon...”

“I know, Jake.”

Jake sighed and looked at me with a small smile. “So, how's the team coming up?”

“Are you seriously making small talk before our match?” I asked him, amused by his question.

He chuckled and responded, “No,” he looked at me with a perplexed expression and continued, “I-uh, I wanted to well-you know-uh...”

She's fine, Jake. Not mad, she's doing pretty...okay, I guess.” I said, deciding to put him out of his misery. Had I not been preoccupied by the match and the fact that Bella and I hadn't spoken since yesterday, I would've laughed at his comical expression before.

Jake sighed in relief. “That is good, I think. Take care of her, will you?”

“I am not her boyfriend Jake, I don't do this kinda...stuff.” I muttered, irritated by him, by her and by the fact that this was happening now.

“I know, but you care. That's what matters. Now leave before coach comes growling at you.”

I scoff but nod nevertheless, giving Jake one last glanced before moving to shut the screen.

“And Braydon?” I hear Jake shout out causing me to look at him with confusion. “Their defender is left-footed, doesn't use his right one much. Good luck.”

I nod at him, grateful for that little piece of information. I can definitely use it. With one last glance I shut the laptop and walk towards the field, ready to put on the show for tonight.

I pushed forward, trying to get past the bulky guy in front of me, with one last push I succeeded. I looked up and saw the ball flying up in the air, aiming for the net I made a move to take a header and rushed forward to go for it. With some unknown great force I shoved the guy in front of me and took the shot, hoping to get it in this time. As soon as I hit the ball, I could feel a throbbing a pain at the back of my head and it consumed me in whole.

Clashing on the ground with my head between my arms, I tried to make sense of what went around me, all I could see were fumbled voices and blurred images. Laying down on my back, I sensed a presence next to me.

“Grey...can you hear me? Braydon...shit.”

Opening my eyes, I could see the haze clear out a bit and the once blurred image came to life.

Talon.

Slowly, with Talon's help I stood up and jumped up to clear my head. Shaking my head...I shut my eyes and focussed on the light between my eyes. It always helped to get my mind back on track. I was distracted by some loud shouts coming from my right...opening my eyes I noticed a small commotion taking place and walked towards it.

Out of nowhere, I saw Arabella freaking Colours climb the fence and run towards me. My eyes widened on their own and I couldn't help baut laugh when two hefty officers ran after her. Jogging towards her, I stopped her in her tracks and looked at her. She seemed worried, like she just witnessed something terrible and something in me clenched at that sight.

I didn't want her to be like this.

“You are fine.” She breathed out and I nodded to confirm her doubts. Letting out an audible sigh, she put her arms around me and retrieved them before I could return the gesture. And just like that, she was pulled back by the officer in the blink of an eye and escorted back to her seat.

I turned around and walked towards Talon, who had amusement written all over his face. Walking past him I positioned myself to take a free kick and asked the referee to resume the game. From the corner of my eye I could see Talon give me a look of apprehension, and I glanced at him to let him know I was fine before focussing on the net and the ball in front of me.

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

We won by 2 goals, conceding only 1 which gave us a decent margin. Coach surely looked happy, and with the way he was eyeing me, I knew I did well but we were going to have a talk about the incident on the field anyway. Thankfully the referee wasn't biased and gave the player a yellow card when he tackled me to the ground.

I was the last one to get out of the locker room, and as usual, I was greeted with the sight of Talon, who stood there proud with a beam plastered across his annoying face. Pushing past him, I unlocked my car and crept inside.

“Please tell me you aren't going back to the lodge and crashing.” Talon said, almost pleading me with his eyes. I rolled my eyes at his behavior.

“What are you planning on doing?” I asked, although completely uninterested to party and dance to some lame ass music.

He looked at me with a huge smile and went on, “We are going to this diner cum pub, it's suppose to be sick. And guess what? Half of our batch showed up to support us so all the more reason to celebrate!”

I raised my eyebrows at the last statement, I can't believe so many people actually came to support us. Maybe everyone just wanted a break from all the drama going on in their life...who even wants chick-drama.

Chick drama? Really?

Jesus. When the fuck did I even think that.

Colours is going to be there...” Talon continued, trying to coax me into giving in. I just gave him an agitated look. How does it matter if she's there or not? That doesnt affect my decision.

Yeah, right.

I don't care, why would you think I would care?” I muttered parking the car near our lodge.

“Oh c'mon! Everyone saw that!”

“I don't know what you're talking about.”

“Fuck Braydon, you're so difficult.” Talon mumbled while getting out of the car and shutting the door.

I shrugged my bag on and shut my car up, walking inside the reception of the lodge. Looking back at Talon, I shrugged.

“I am not in the mood right now, go on.”

With that, I walked towards my room, to  hopefully get a peaceful night of rest, free of all things going on in my head. Especially free of all thoughts leading to a certain blue-eyed girl.

Like that would happen!

Hey,

This chapter focussed more on Braydon and the game. I hope it wasn't weird because I've never written anything like it.

Hope you guys enjoyed it.

Watch out for the next chapter there are a lot of Bella-Braydon moments. Also, there is going to be a surprise in the one after that!

I will most probably be fitting in Braydon's POV in the next 2-3 chapters alongside Bella's, hope you enjoy it <3

Next Update: Tuesday
