Chapter 2

The ball hit the wood with a satisfying thud; Salvador was lying on his bed throwing a ball up in the air until it hit the ceiling and catching it as gravity pulled it back down. He'd been quietly lying on his bed ever since he had shown Eleanor the news about her sister escaping. Since then he had been debating whether he should have gone inside Eleanor's hut to comfort her or something along those lines.

Making his mind up Salvador sat up to get off the bed, when there was a light knock at his door. His ears perked up, could it be Eleanor, was she here to ask for his help? However, he shook his head realizing it was a stupid idea, yes he and El were friends, but they weren't that close. He had learned very quickly that ever since Charlene killed the chief of Ibarra, Eleanor found it hard to trust anyone apart from her own people.

Sighing Salvador went to open the door and was met with a fist to the face. Instantly his nose cracked causing him to cup it in both hands and put it back into place.

''What the hell,'' He shouted pain evident in his voice, a punch in the nose really hurts.

''For stealing my cigarettes, do you honestly think I wouldn't notice Cymont?'' Salvador took his hands away from his face to see who he had been stealing from over the past year and a half. In front of him stood Sergeant Joseph Milton, at the moment Salvador knew he had stolen off of the wrong man.

''Well you see the thing is,'' Salvador began but never finished because in a blink of an eye he had disappeared, leaving the sergeant to stare bewildered at the spot in which Salvador had been standing.

''That dam son of a...'' Joseph muttered, existing the hut fuming that Salvador had teleported away.

Salvador reappeared sighing in relief he had come so close to being pounded into the ground by a very angry Sergeant Milton. He mentally noticed that that was the last time he'd ever steal cigarettes from a fellow soldier, next time he would ask or just buy them himself.

He looked around and realized he had appeared in someone else's hut, which lead to the question of whose he was in and why of all places had he landed there. His question was soon answered when the door swung open to reveal Eleanor, a much stressed Eleanor.

Upon spotting Salvador in her room, Eleanor became a little weary, but after hearing the distant sound of Sergeant Milton shouting his name she came to the conclusion that Salvador had gotten himself in trouble and had decided to hide in her hut. So instead of questioning why he was their Eleanor simply shrugged her shoulders took her boots off and proceeded to sit on the end of the bed not really caring the Salvador was there.

''Your not going to ask why I'm here?'' He asked surprised by his friends' calm attitude to him just suddenly appearing in her room.

''I was, but then I heard Joseph shouting your name and came to the conclusion that you had gotten yourself into trouble again,'' She paused before then adding ''what did you do this time?''

''I may have been stealing cigarettes off of him for the past year or so,'' He confessed.

''What did I tell you about stealing cigarettes off people Sal,'' Eleanor had a disapproving look on her face as she looked at him with her three blue eyes, which was deeply unsettling.

''Don't steal off the other soldiers, especially Sergeants,'' Salvador replied, lowering his head in shame, not at all surprised that Eleanor was giving him the should of known better speech.

She smiled nodding her head; happy that Salvador had listened to what she had told him, even if he hadn't exactly listened to her.

''Um well since your kind of hiding from Joseph at the moment, I was wondering if you could do me a favour?'' Eleanor asking standing up from her bed and walking towards Salvador, who was still stood in the middle of the hut rather uncomfortably, even if he didn't care to admit it.

''Depends what it is,'' He replied shrugging his shoulders waiting to hear what she wanted him to do.

''I need you to come with me to the forest of Ibarra,'' She near enough whispered the words, as if she didn't want anyone to know that's where she wanted to go.

''Er what? Why?'' Salvador didn't know what to say, why did she want to go back home and why did she want him to go with her? Surely she could go one her own like the countless other times she'd gone to visit them.

''Vador,'' Salvador smirked at the new nickname she had given to him, he liked it, normally he didn't like any of the nicknames Eleanor gave him and she never liked the ones he gave her.

''My parents live in the treetops, they like to live in the way my people have always lived, no technology, no newspaper, no way of getting news. Do you get what I'm trying to get at?''

Eleanor didn't need to tell him twice, her parents and the rest of the Drei Occhi had no idea that Charlene had escaped. He knew straight away that Eleanor wanted to go and warn them and make sure they were prepared for whatever Charlene had in store.

''Ok, got it I'll come, but how are we going to get there?'' He asked causing a smile to light up on his friends face. He was glad he'd made her smile after the upsetting news this morning he felt as if he wouldn't see her smile again.

''Well I was thinking you could teleport us there and back again,'' She suggested.

''Yeah about that, I may have teleported into your room only five minutes ago,'' he said glancing at his watch to see how long it had been since he last teleported.

''Your kidding me,'' Eleanor breathed out not believing that Vador had wasted his teleport without even thinking about it.

''Sorry, but I really didn't feel in the mood of being punched again by Joseph,'' Vador confessed feeling utterly stupid at the decision he had made.

''Well we're just going to have to use the army teleports then,'' Eleanor sighed, picking up her boots from the door and putting them back on.

''Wait, wait are we just going to walk into the main building and use the teleports without asking, cause that's not really your style El,'' She flinched at the name he had just called her.

''No, I already told the colonel what I was going to do and he said if I needed a teleport then I was free to use them,'' Eleanor said as she begun to pack some items of clothing and a few weapons into a standard army backpack.

''If I had said no, you would have gone anyway, wouldn't you? The reason Salvador had asked was that he'd noticed that she had figured out how to get there and had already informed the colonel of where and what she was doing.

''Yes, but seeing as you decided to teleport, uninvited into my room, I thought I'd ask you,'' Salvador simply nodded at her response.

He watched as she grabbed the backpack, she had just filled and slung it over her shoulder.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both Salvador and Eleanor hated using the armies' teleports, it always made them sick and dizzy, even if you'd used them tons of times before. Teleporting to other places can be achieved in two ways. The first way was that you'd stand on a cylinder shaped tube and a man behind some controls would import where you wanted to be and you would then be sucked up into the air and appear in the place you had told them you wished to be.

The second way was that you were born with the ability to teleport from place to place and if you hadn't of noticed, Salvador was one of those people. However, the problem with having this ability is that you can only teleport once every three hours, so that is why in order for Eleanor and him to get to Ibarra they would have to use the teleporting tubes.

The tubes were kept in a special building toward the south of the compound, so it was about a ten minute walk across the barren uneven ground for Salvador and Eleanor. Luckily, for them it was mid morning meaning that the suns had risen hours ago and the two suns hadn't yet warmed up enough so it wasn't quite the scorching temperature it would have usually been.

When they finally reached the building they then had to check in say where they were going, so if they were needed, then the army would know where they were and bring them back. It wasn't just the signing in that the two friends had to endure, it was the fact that they had to show the woman (who was sat at behind a pane of glass in a room alone, with a small window that opened and closed) that they were wearing their birth stones and zodiac signs.

It was a law on the planet that you could not leave your home if you didn't wear your birth stone or zodiac sign. These were usually worn on pieces of jewellery, for example Eleanor wore an emerald mounted on a silver ring and had the Gemini sign engraved on a golden necklace that hung around her neck. On the other hand, Salvador wore a skull shaped necklace with two sapphires for eyes and had a purple bracelet with the sign of a Virgo engraved on it.

Once all the checks were done, both soldiers were able to go and settle themselves in the tubes.

''Right so your both going to the forest of Ibarra, correct?'' The man in charge of the controls asked. In response he got two nods from the soldiers in front of him. Satisfied with the answer he pushed the button and they were gone.
