Prologue
A/N: My first story! It's in a high school AU, with a prologue (which is this chapter, duh XD) that is actually many years earlier.
Also to be noted: The prologue takes place in the time of the first restaurant, but the other chapters do not. This means that in the prologue, the animatronics are the Toys, but in the other chapters they are the originals. Also, I changed the restaurant thing from the games to it the story better, so this is what I changed:
After the Bite, the Toys were not scrapped, though they were put out of commission. The Originals are the ones being used, but, similarly to the first restaurant, the unused animatronics are kept in the parts/service room.
I changed this for reasons that I can't really remember anymore (meaning it was mostly because I wanted to).
Oh yeah, I also made up the town names, and I know they're not great, but whatever. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that if they're actual places, I didn't mean for that to happen.
And something else: In this chapter, the kids call Mangle the Mangle, which isn't her actual name of course, but its what everyone calls her at that point because it's pretty fitting.
AAAAAAAANNNNNDDD ANOTHER THING (I'm so sorry): as for updates, I'll try to do it as much as possible, but there won't be a set schedule, since sometimes I'm not gonna be able to work on anything or put anything up.
Cause, you know, real life and stuff.
So yeah.
Enjoy!

{Mike's POV}
I was at a birthday party. I normally didn't go to birthday parties, but this was my best friend Fritz's 10th birthday, so I kind of had to. I was sitting at a table, basically just watching everyone else have fun. Most of the other kids were crowding around one of the game cabinets, watching as one kid set a new high score and kept going, practically destroying any chance of a new best to be set. I saw Fritz in the crowd, among the others, whom I all either knew or at least recognized. Fritz was easy to find because of his bright red curls that immediately drew the eyes of anyone who were to look into a crowd. No, he definitely wasn't hard to find.
I sat and watched for a few minutes, before I noticed a kid that looked about my age come in the door with his mom and dad behind him. I sat and observed for a few seconds. Normally, somebody walking through a door wouldn't be that interesting, but I had never seen this kid before. I didn't know the names of every kid I ever met, but I definitely remembered faces. So, to me, it was a pretty big deal that I'd never seen this kid before. Especially since he was my age(or at least looked like it). I saw his dad kneel down to tell him something, then hug him and stand back up. His mom picked him up and hugged him, and then they both waved goodbye and left. Wow. They must really trust their kid. I decided that I wanted to meet him, so I stood up and and started to walk in his direction.
{Jeremy's POV}
I was finally here. I'd never been to a Freddy Fazbear's before, and I had practically begged my parents to take me for my birthday, which was a few days away.
I looked up to my dad, who kneeled down and said, "Make sure you stay safe, and call us if anything happens, okay?" I nodded and he leaned forward to hug me. As he did, I noticed a kid sitting at one of the tables. He was watching me. My dad let me go, and my mom picked me up and hugged me too. She put me down and said, "Have fun! We'll be here in a couple of hours if you don't call us before then. Have a good time, okay?" I nodded again. Both of my parents waved at me, my dad calling, "We love you, bud!" as they left. I waved back, and then they were gone. I turned and looked around the pizzeria, trying to decide what to do. As I did, however, I noticed the same kid from earlier walking towards me.
"Hi!" He said. "I'm Mike! What's your name?"
"Jeremy," I spoke quietly.
"What was that?" Dangit. I really need to work on talking louder.
"Jeremy." There. That one was loud enough.
"Nice to meet you, Jeremy!" Okay, so at least he was nice. That was a good thing.
"Nice to meet you too, Mike."
"Are you from here?"
"No, I live in Alexandria."
"Really? That's a long way away from here!"
"Not really," I responded. "It's only about a half hour's drive."
"Oh, Okay. Did you drive all that way just to come here?" Mike sounded surprised.
"Yeah, I did. This is the first time I've come here. Where are you from?"
"Right here in Ardent."
"Oh, okay."
"So, how do you know Fritz?"
"Who?"
"Umm... Fritz Smith?" I had absolutely no idea who he was talking about.
"Sorry, I have no idea who you're talking about." I blushed a little as I spoke, afraid I had somehow done something wrong.
"Oh, okay. Well I figured you knew him, considering today's his 10th birthday party."
"No, sorry. But hey, I'm here for my birthday too!"
"Really? Today's your birthday too? We've gotta tell Fritz!" Wait, no. I figured he must have misunderstood me.
"No, my birthday's actually not for two days."
"Oh, okay. So, how old are you, then?"
"Nine."
"Cool, I'm ten! My birthday was last month."
"Cool."
We were both silent for a minute. I could almost feel his eyes on me, examining my features, so I did the same. He had jet black hair and piercing green eyes. He was wearing a blue hoodie, jeans, and tennis shoes. I finished looking over him, and waited for him to say something.
{Mike's POV}
"Cool."
So, even if he seemed a little shy, this kid also seemed pretty nice. I took a brief moment to look him over, so that I'd recognize him if we met again. He had light brown hair and pale blue eyes. He was a few inches shorter than me, and he was wearing a white t-shirt and grey shorts with a pair of tennis shoes. I finished eyeing him and waited a moment to see if he would say anything. When he didn't, I held out my hand to him and asked, "Friends?"
{Jeremy's POV}
I blinked, a blank look suddenly appearing on my face. He wanted to be my friend? I didn't have very many friends, so I was caught off guard. Normally, I would ask people to be my friends, not the other way around. Plus, whenever I would ask, most of the time they would either say no, make fun of me, or both.
I realized he was still waiting, and he looked a bit uneasy, as if he thought I was going to say no. I placed my hand in his and shook it. "Friends."
He smiled, and then so did I.
{Mike's POV}
"Great!" I let go of Jeremy's hand. "What do you want to do?" I looked around. The group that was around the game cabinet was getting a lot smaller, and it looked like Bonnie, Chica and Freddy were getting ready to start a show, seeing as they were making their way towards the stage. There was also a group of kids in Kid's Cove, playing with a pink and white fox that was mostly in pieces. "Wanna go watch the show? I think they're about to start!" I suggested, looking over at the Toys.
"Uh, sure," Jeremy said, sounding somewhat unsure. "I've never been here before, so I'll pretty much just follow you." Oh, right. I remembered he'd told me this was his first time at Freddy's.
"Okay, then! Let's head over to the stage!"
"Alright."
I began heading that way, spotting Fritz's bright orange hair in the crowd around the stage. There were a lot of people, and I didn't want for Jeremy to get stuck in the crowd without me, so I reached back, grabbed a hold of his hand, and pressed onward into the crowd, heading towards Fritz. At one point, I was afraid he would let go of my hand and get lost, but he always tightened his grip on my hand whenever he thought our hands were slipping. We quickly made it to Fritz, and found that he was standing right in front of the stage.
{Jeremy's POV}
We wove our way through the crowd, stopping when we got to the very front, next to a kid with curly red hair, green eyes, and thick-rimmed round black glasses. Mike let go of my hand and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey, Fritz!" Oh, so this was Fritz Smith. "This is Jeremy. He's from Alexandria!" He said, turning and gesturing to me.
"That's cool. Hi, Jeremy! I'm Fritz!" He waved at me.
"Hi Fritz! Happy Birthday! Mike told me you're turning ten!"
"Yeah, I am, thanks! How old are you?" He spoke a bit fast, but I could still understand him.
"Nine, but I'm turning ten in two days."
"Cool! Happy early birthday, then!" He turned to the stage. "Oh, I think it's about to start!"
Mike and I also turned to face the stage, just in time to see Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie come onstage, and then the show began.
~/after the show/~
The show was great. After it was over, we had all gone and played some of the games at the game cabinets, and then gone to play some games so we could get something at the prize counter. We had gotten enough tickets for each of us to get a plushie. I had gotten a Freddy, Fritz got a Bonnie, and Mike got a Mangle. We had been there a few hours, so I figured I had about one hour left until my parents came back. Just as I was thinking this, Fritz made a suggestion for what we should do next.
"Hey guys! I think there aren't that many people over by Mangle! We could go play with her!"
"Great idea, Fritz!" Mike sounded very excited.
"Cool!" I agreed. "You guys head over there. I've gotta go to the bathroom."
Okay!" Mike answered me. "We'll meet you there!"
"See ya!" Fritz waved at me, and then so did Mike. I waved back and then made my way to the bathrooms.
Or, at least, I tried to. I had absolutely no idea where they were, and I was too shy to ask. I spent probably ten minutes looking for them, and eventually found them. However, before I could go inside, I heard something.
That's weird... I thought. That sounded like... a scream! Immediately forgetting my need to pee, I turned and ran back through the pizzeria. It sounded like it came from Kids' Cove... I ran faster, reaching my destination in a matter of seconds. What I saw was horrifying.
There was red everywhere. The walls, the floor, and... on the mouth of one of the animatronics. Mangle, to be specific. I realized that it was blood when I saw the slumped figure underneath the colorful fox.
It was Mike. Fritz was on his hands and knees about ten feet away, retching. It looked like he had run (or thrown himself) as fast and far away as he could, causing him to trip and fall. There was a woman on the phone, most likely calling the police. She put the phone back on the hook, and almost immediately after, lights could be seen and sirens could be heard from outside. Paramedics came inside, carrying a stretcher, which they loaded Mike's body onto. When they did, I could see... well, Mike. The entire front of his head was covered with blood, and it kept gushing out. I couldn't bear to look, but I also couldn't turn away, so I squeezed my eyes shut as tightly as I could. Then, they stretched wide open again as I realized: I had to call my parents! I ran over to the woman who I had seen using the phone. She was wearing a light blue uniform shirt with black shoulders and a black tie, and she had on a gold badge and a hat that said "security" on the front.
"M-miss?" I tugged on her pant leg. "C-can I use the ph-phone?"
She looked down at me, and her expression immediately softened. "Oh, sweetie, of course you can! Here," she said kindly, handing me the phone from off of the hook. "There you go."
"Th-Thank you." I dialed my parents' number, and held the phone to my earlist. The phone rang for a few seconds, and then I heard my dad's voice from the other end.
"Hey, bud! Everything okay?"
"N-no."
"What?" His tone suddenly became very serious. "What happened?"
"M-my friend got h-hurt... the police a-are here."
"Oh my god..." I heard him whisper. "I'm gonna go get your mom, and we'll be there in a few minutes, okay?"
"O-okay. Bye, dad." I gave the phone back to the woman who'd given it to me. "T-thank you."
"It's no problem." She ruffled my hair, and then walked away to help another kid (Fritz, actually).
My parents arrived a few minutes later, just like they had said they would. I was completely silent as they took me to the car. As we drove off, I could see nothing but the flashing lights of police cars until I caught a glimpse of Mike's stretcher being loaded into an ambulance. The stretcher had what looked like a sheet over it that left only his head uncovered. I began to cry as I realized what that probably meant.
Mike... My first friend... was dead.

A/N: Woo! prologue done! I hope you liked it... I'll try to have the next chapter (technically the first chapter, really) up as soon as possible, but like up said up top, there isn't a set schedule for updates. Anyways, yeah. I hope you liked it, and if you find any spelling/grammar errors that I missed, feel free to point them out.
That's kinda what the review box is for.
But yeah. Thanks for reading, and I'll try to keep the author's notes as short as possible in the future.
Hope you liked it!
Hopefully, the next chapter will get put up tomorrow.
