When I grow up | For Sale

==========

"Finally!" Her voice trembled with excitement, "We're having a baby! A tiny miracle that's growing inside me." She squeezed her husband's hand.

"The best news ever!" His smile mirrored hers. "Let's hope it's a baby boy. That would be amazing!"

"I do too!"

"'Thank you,' she whispered, a silent prayer ascending towards the heavens. 'Thank you for this warm, secure cocoon.'

The world, muffled and indistinct, promised a kaleidoscope of experiences. The first laugh, the warmth of a hug, the thrill of discovery. Images flickered in her mind's eye.

'Maybe I'll be a scientist,' she mused, 'or a lawyer, or maybe something even more extraordinary.' A boundless future stretched before her, brimming with possibilities. 'I'd be so successful.'"

"It's a girl, unfortunately." Doctor said, stressing on the last word.

"Oh no!" The wife and the husband said together, their voices tinged with surprise and horror.

"We want to get rid of this child." the wife said, feeling a mix of guilt and disgust.

"Are you sure?" The Doctor asked, trying to confirm if they really wanted to go with this harsh decision.

"Yes, we're sure." The husband said.

"We are having another kid! I hope it's a boy this time; I don't want to eliminate a child again. Let us hope for the best." The wife expressed.

"Yeah." The husband said.

A week later, a tiny fist grasped the world; a son whose melody was sung in the language of coos and gurgles.

The parents showered him with love and affection that bound him to his cage. He carried a secret: a pair of invisible wings that whispered to him about the promises of freedom.

Only he could feel their caress against his back, a constant reminder of another life, a life where the sky was the limit and his dreams took flight.

In the golden light of childhood, he reveled in this invisible gift, a constant companion in his playful adventures, soaring through the boundless skies of imagination.

But time, the relentless sculptor, chiseled away at his youth, the world around him hardening into a rigid mold.

Decisions were made on his behalf, paths laid out in smooth marble, a future preordained that gleamed with expectation but lacked the whisper of his own desires.

A gnawing emptiness settled within him, a hollowness where the wings had once pulsed with possibility.

He reached for them in a desperate attempt to recapture his childhood dreams, but his grasp was met only with chilling emptiness.

The wings, once his solace, his confidantes, were gone and sacrificed on the altar of a caged life.

His spirit, once buoyant with the thrill of the unknown, felt tethered. His soul was sold, making him a prisoner of his own privilege, a king in a gilded cage who longed for the boundless freedom of the open sky.

A/N: The difference between boys and girls is evident here. But then, I didn't know how to write the Android Child part. I hope this at least gives a basic idea of what the prose actually wanted to convey. Lemme know what you think in the comments section. I'd appreciate any positive and constructive feedback.

Lots of love,
Saramitra
