Prologue ~ Darkness
I feel numb. My body is unresponsive. When I blink open my eyes, water fills my vision. Shock makes me splutter and gasp for air. Despite being a water-type and able to spend several hours under water, I choked on water, my lungs begging for air.
I pumped my legs, but something clawed my ankles, I lean forwards, but smack into a different surface. I form blades of water and slash at the object blocking me from life, but the last of my air escapes me. My muscles fall weak after a last shout of protest. My bones feel water-logged, they drag me down. My vision goes foggy and I shut my eyes, pleading for me to stay awake, for this nightmare to end. After a few seconds, invisible claws clench my lungs, taking one last breath of water, I faint.
Bright light floods my vision, burning my eyes. Indescribable pain seared through me like wildfire. I tried to lift my head to no avail. Cold metal wrapped around my neck like an Ekans. I could hear muttering and focused on the speech I could hear and understand.
"Subject G has responded... ...every test... ...It's determination excedes... ...expectations, it is smarter... ...improvise and adapt... ...situation." The human hesitated. "...problem."
"What?" The figure shrouded in shadow snaps, his voice loud and clear. "What could be the problem with such an amazing specimen?"
"It has a strong sense... ...golden heart. It helps... ...during tests, and objects... It gets in the way in fact, we usually have to... ...the other subjects, and it is resilient against torture." The human pushed up against its nose. "Its resilience is both a blessing and a curse for us."
"Not once we've broken it in." I could see a cruel smile in the dim lighting. Nothing scared me more than that smile. "Begin Operation D and C. At the same time. It will be easier to reprimand them in that state."
"But sir-" The meek human protests weakly.
"But what?!"
"No subject has ever... ...Together would be..."
"We'll find another test subject if this one fails."
I notice a shock of blue and yellow heading towards me, and at the sight of the electricity, I tense up, preparing myself for the undeniable pain.
At impact, a scream rips out of my throat. I grit my jaw. Never give up. NO, not until its over!
The pain rips through me like fire. I feel myself shrinking, my proportions becoming smaller. When the pain ceases the human with wide oval eyes, gazes over me. "It..." They gulp. "Worked."
"12 years of research finally pays out."
My eyes flutter close, the pain forcing me into a state of unconsciousness.
I heard the crash.
I heard the roar of flame.
I heard the metal snap.
I felt the warms arms envelope me.
I heard the voice from Arceus's Hall (heaven) itself.
"You're safe now."
