Chapter 19 page 2
Then from the distance, I caught a glimpse of a somewhat familiar figure, pale blotchy face with ginger hair coming in the opposite direction, someone whom I don't feel like meeting especially on a drowsy Saturday morning like this. Jason Stuttart. He walked unsteadily, giggling to himself and then slowed down as I drew near about a couple of metres away from him.
"ZJ?" he squinted his eyes to adjust his focus on me. "Haha! It's you! You alright?" I groaned in frustration and wasn't really up to meet anyone within Abs circle at the moment. So, I slowed down to a complete stop before turning away from him. "Oi, ZJ!" he called out and quickened his pace to catch mine. "Where are you goin'? Aren't you excited to see me?"
He came near, following me to the side and I could tell that he was drunk and stoned from the smell of his breath and the funky smell on his shirt. "Not really, I just don't feel like seeing anyone right now. Especially you," I retorted.
"Come on, mate. I'm actually excited to meet you. Why are you dressing like you want to go for a shag?" he said mischievously.
"I'm in my long shirt and jeggings, Jase," I snapped, increasing my speed while he followed. "What's so shaggable about it?"
"I don't know, just different. You smell different too," he responded and wrapped his arms around my neck, pulling me closer to him.
"Well, I had a bath and you don't!" I fumed, pushing his arms away but it didn't stop him from poking me around.
"With who?" he asked but I didn't reply, continuing my strides. Swiftly he grabbed my wrist and twisted it until I felt a sudden sprain. "Can you bathe me as well?"
"Go to hell, Jason!" I wriggled, trying to release my wrist while my other free hand smacked him in the face.
Jason grabbed me by the neck and lifted me up. I felt my air supply instantly cut off through his tight grip and my torso almost detaching from my lower body. My screams became a yelp when he dragged me to a van nearby and pinned me to its side, continuing to strangle me.
I almost felt like the world was turning blank, struggling to breathe. I felt the coldness not from the weather but from my body slowly withering. I quickly reached out for his neck, constricting his throat to which he choked and coughed. He yanked me forward and slammed me to the windscreen of the van, causing me to be concussed. But the hit was bearable that I managed to blow on his face with my strongest fist.
He staggered backwards before slumped onto the ground, giving me the opportunity to flee. But as I was about to throttle, I felt him pulling my ankle that I tripped and fell onto the tarmac on all four. He swiftly straddled on top of me as I was lying facing down. I screamed for him to stop, but at the same time I screamed for help but there weren't any people out here to save me.
"That ass!" he let an intoxicating laugh while groping my bum. Quickly, I mustered every energy I had in my body to push him away and toss him outwards like a raging mechanical bull in revenge. But then there was a thump above me and Jason was thrown to the side, like someone knocked him in the head. I turned my head to look up and my eyes met the sole of a familiar black Lanvin sneakers. I saw Nick standing in front of me.
I got up instantly and hid behind him while Jason was on his knees, looking at us in vexation.
"Hey, mind your own fuckin' business, you cock!" Jason shouted angrily at Nick.
"No, you should mind your own fuckin' business," Nick said coldly.
Jason got up and charged towards him but Nick briskly kicked Jason by the chest causing him to be thrown backwards. Jason went up again, persevering for another fight. He went balling his fist and about to throw a punch at Nick but Nick managed to dodge the blow and elbowed Jason by the jaw. Jason clobbered again onto the floor losing his balance. I began to see soberness in his face, and he wasn't able to fight anymore. Whatever that was in his body no longer made him invincible.
"Okay, Nick. That's it, we're leaving," I said in my raspy voice but Nick walked past me as though I wasn't there. He marched towards Jason, blootered him in the stomach and his head relentlessly. I cried for him to stop but he ignored me, like I was his conscience that he refused to listen. Jason's face was beginning to spew blood from his mouth and nose.
"Nick! Stop it! Knock it off!" I yelled frantically. "You'll kill him!" I looked at Nick and saw the same anger in his face confronting the waiter at Alderley Edge. Psychotic, irrational and wrath read all over it. I wrapped my arm around Nick from the back and retracted him away from Jason with every strength reserved in my body, while repeatedly chanted "Enough, Nick. Beat it!" like a mantra. I finally succeeded and he complied.
