After a long Herbology Lesson, Alyssa headed down to the dungeons. She stayed at the back of the line for potions and just stared at the wall opposite her. When they headed inside, the room was musky and smelled of snake fangs.
Alyssa sat with the same people as yesterday but didn't bother to contribute to the conversation.
Snape was writing something on the board.
When he turned to face the class Alyssa was able to see what he wrote.
"Cure for Boils".
He wrote down a page number under it. Alyssa pulled out her textbook and started flipping through it. She started reading the instructions, planning exactly what she was going to do.
Snape started talking to the class about situations in which knowing how to prepare this would be useful. After the lecture, he sent them off to make it. "Don't blow anything up." He said sitting down to grade homework papers.
Alyssa looked down at the instructions as she got up.
"Add 6 Snake Fangs to the mortar."
She sat down and placed them inside of the mortar. She realized she misplaced her pestle. She checked under her cutting board, inside her bag, and other places but no anvil. She slowly stood up and walked over to Snape.
As Alyssa approached he looked up. "Yes?" She looked at her feet. And muttered something. "I do not have sonic hearing, ror. You're going to need to speak up." Snape said putting his quill down.
"I-I don't have pestle..." Alyssa repeated loud enough for only Snape to hear.
"Well Miss ror, You're going to have to order another one." He said reaching for his quill, "But what about the potion we're making today?" Alyssa asked, "I would tell you to improvise but I don't want to have to mark you down for exploding your potion." He said holding his quill above his paper.
"But won't you have to mark me down for not doing the assignment?" Alyssa asked anxiously pulling at her sleeves. "Of course," Alyssa swore he rolled his eyes, "Now go take a seat, I'm busy."
Alyssa walked over to her seat and flipped through her textbook for the rest of the period.
"-Then he rolled his eyes at me!" Alyssa said throwing her hands in the air, "Well I don't blame him." Kaycie crossing her arms.
Alyssa dramatically placed a hand over her heart and they both laughed.
Kaycie sighed, "I guess we should head to our common rooms so we can do homework." Alyssa placed a hand on Kaycie's forehead, "Are you feeling okay? You're acting out of character."
Kaycie rolled her eyes and pushed Alyssa's hand away. "Come on."
Alyssa was sat on one of the comfy chairs of the Hufflepuff common room.
She pushed aside a piece of parchment and pulled out a blank one. She began scribbling down a letter to a delivery company. She placed 2 gallons, 15 sickle, and 13 knuts on the parchment and rolled it up. She crossed the common room and pulled open the round door.
She crawled through the dirt tunnel and pulled herself out of the barrel. Alyssa dusted the dirt off her robes as the barrel closed itself. She pushed open the front doors of the school and walked down the oddly shaped bridge while humming.
When Alyssa reached the soft grass, she heard voices in the distance. Curiosity got the best of her and she found herself at the Game keeper's hut. Two strange men were arguing with Hagrid, the guy who led the first years across the lake.
Alyssa cautiously approached.
"What do yer mean there's a dangerous person here?!" Alyssa heard Hagrid demand.
"Its hard to explain, sir." The first one said. He had raggy gray hair with a bald spot on the back of his head. Alyssa couldn't see his face so she started to walk in a wide circle around.
"I can' let yer into ter castle. Sorry." Hagrid said shaking his head.
"Oh please. We have to talk to Dumbledore!" The smaller man begged. His hair was a dark brown, a bowl cut, hazel eyes. The taller man had an eyepatch with unnaturally dark blue eyes.
Suddenly Alyssa and the man made eye contact.
"And who may you be?" He asked, bringing all attention on her.
"What are yer doing out here?" Hagrid asked surprised making its way onto his face.
"I-I was going to the Owerly." She stuttered pointing at the tower silhouette in the distance. "Then I-I heard voices..."
"What's your name?" The man repeated approaching her.
"Whats i-it to you?" Alyssa snapped.
The man's eye narrowed.
"Alyssa. Alyssa Ror." Alyssa huffed.
The man nodded and turned away, stalking off without a word. "He'll be back here. I'll tell yer that." Hagrid said to Alyssa before turning and going back into his hut.
Alyssa stood in shock for a few seconds before just silently walking to the Owerly.
