~Chapter I~
Helga had her bags packed. She took everything she hold dear and brought also her tribes emblem. When she left her home she saw mister and miss Savere standing in front of her.
"Hi Hellie, we wanted to wish you good luck with your teacher and give you this." she uttered the two children forwards. The sisters had made a dreamcatcher and were giving it to her.
"So you won't have any bad dreams." Sarah smiled.
"Thank you!" Helga gave both a hug and thanked the parents more then ones. She walked towards the borders of their city. She turned around.
"Bye." She said before sprinting towards the wood. She heard the villagers talking about how strange she was and about a made up story just to get away. Just outside of the view from the people, Salazar joined her.
He too had some heavy bag on his shoulders.
"Ready for this Hellie?" He asked.
"A little nervous, what if I'm not good enough or what if they made a mistake or..." Salazar held her shoulders.
"Hey, you can do this."
She breathed in and nodded. Then looked around and frowned.
"So which way to go?" She asked. He grinned deviously.
He lead her through the woods and when they reached a clear spot, he pointed towards the feather in the middle.
"Is this it?" Helga asked confused.
"Wait and see." He took her hand and let it tough the feather. When he touched the feather the world started spinning. A few moments later they stood in front of a tower. Salazar laughed at her when she ended on her stomach and spit out some leaves.
"You could have warned me." She told him.
"Ah, but where would be the fun in that?" She elbowed him and looked up.
"That is a crazy high tower, how did no one ever found it." A glance of her friend told her the answer. Together they walked to the door. Salazar knocked. The door opened and inside a whole new world opened. The place was massive. Everywhere you could see wizards and witches practicing magic or some new students looking lost. Helga realized she probably looked the same way.
"Welcome miss Hufflepuff, follow me if you please." An old wizard stood in front of her. He had a long silver beard and a wore dark blue robes. His eyes looked old, like he had seen to much but there was still a sparkle.
"Salazar, can you go and get Rowena for me please."
"Of course professor Merlin."
Helgas eyes grew wide. Her mind flashed to the stories that Salazar gave her. While they walked towards a strange cottage she asked if he was the real Merlin from the stories. The old man laughed and told her that he did not know another Merlin.
"Helga dear, this is the cottage of wands. Each wizard or witch needs a wand to perform magic, in some cases a very powerful wizard can even practice wandless magic. In this cottage, we will find your wand." Merlin explained. He pushed open the doors. Helgas eyes grew wide before she looked confused.
"I don't see a wand, sir." Merlin laughed and ushered her inside. He made a fluent movement with his wand and a diversety of trees appeared.
"Remember miss Hufflepuf, a wand chooses his wielder. We let the different parts choose their own. Just hold your hand out and move from one tree to another, the tree will choose which wood you'll get."
Helga did as told and let her hand touch every tree. Suddenly, a very small plant began growing. It produced a sweat smell and beautiful golden light balls.
"Alder wood, this is an unwielding wood who seeks an owner who is helpful, considerate and most likeable. When it finds a good partner, the wand becomes magnificent. I believe it choose wise." Merlin looked at Helga with the twinkle in his eyes. Helga was still staring at the plant, Merlin doubted she even heard him.
"Let it grow Helga, you need to find your core." Immediately, she joined the man and when he performed a spell for the second time, different cores came forward, flying in a glass, old Greek jar. Each core gleamed in the light. Helga acted on instinct. She walked towards the cores and let their light guide her. Finally a golden, orange feather lighted up.
"A Phoenix feather it is. I hope you are worth his wielding." Was the only thing Merlin said. He held the core and the wood together and seamed to perform a really difficult spell.
"A fine wand, miss Hufflepuff. 7 inches long, not to stiff and not to flexible. Alder wood and a Phoenix feather." Helga carefully took the wand and held it in her hand. It felt perfectly, like it belonged there. Without her knowing, they had exited the cottage and were walking towards the tower. Suddenly a beautiful ebony haired girl stood in front of her. She had deep blue eyes which seemed to hold an certain sparkle of intelligence. She had red plump lips and a little nose. Her skin was milky white. In short, she was a natural beauty. She wore blue robes.
"Hello, my name is Rowena and I came in Yesterday. We are roommates and I already know we are going to be the best of friends. Is this your wand?
My wand is made from Beech and has a core of unicorn hair. They say Beech is a wood for very intelligent people." The girl said.
Helga subconsciously pushed a lock of her own red hair behind her ear.
"Hi, my name is Helga, but you can call me Hellie." Rowena complimented her name and together they walk towards their room.
"You have to meet my friend Goderic. He is amazing. He also came in yesterday and we are from the same town."
"Sounds fun!" Helga answered before she was pulled out of the room, which they entered literally 5 seconds ago, and got dragged towards the garden. There they could see a boy with brown hair and green eyes. He wore red robes and his wand was light brown. Helga already knew he was going to be a heartrobber.
"Greetings, my fair ladies, who do I owe the pleasure?"
Rowen a laughed and pulled her hand from his grip.
"Goderic, you aren't a knight,"
Helga swore she heard a yet, "this is my best friend Helga, but you can call her Hellie."
"It's an honor meeting you."
"Same to you Goderic." Helga answered. She looked at his wand, wondering what it was made of.
Goderic catches her gaze and smiled.
"This piece of perfection is made of Aspen with a core of dragon heartstrings. It was meant for a great battle hero and..."
Goderic began. Rowena interrupted him with and insult about how the wand seems to have chosen the wrong person and the two of them began bickering.
"Dragon heartstrings you said?" Helga interrupted.
"Yes, indeed".
"My friend Salazar also has a wand with this core." Helga exclaimed happily.
"Salazar? Salazar Slitherin?" Goderic asked with a darker undertone. Helga nodded confused.
"Don't worry about it," Rowena laughed, "Mister Hero here challenged your friend to a duel and lost."
Helga smirked.
"Of course you lost, no one can best Salazar."
"Good to know you have confidence in me!" A voice said. You could hear the smirk. He put an arm around Helga.
"Goderic Griffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, nice to meet you both properly."
"Likewise Salazar." Rowena smiled. Goderic grumbled something about getting someone. Salazar in response gave him a wolfish grin.
"I heard they are going to open the restaurant soon, we need to hurry or we'll have no place." Rowena said before they all sprinted after her. It was a beginning of a beautiful friendship.
