Hayden was curious. He doesn't recall what exactly how he ended up in the hospital, or the fact that his cousin is acting so casually around Freddy and Rachel. 

Rachel seems to be nervous about telling him about his condition, as he touches her hand, "Just tell me, Rach. 

I can handle it, no matter what." He said. 

Rachel said, "I really don't know if you can, Hayden. It has been three months you were in your coma.

It would shock you." 

Hayden said, "Come on, Rachel, how bad can it possibly be?" The Cheerleader bit her lip as Hayden pulls the covers of his bedsheets . 

What he saw, stunned him. 

His  left leg was completely gone, and there was a massive bandage up to his knee. He has become an amputee. 

"I'm so sorry , Hayden. " Rachel said, sadly, "I didn't know that would be the result of the operation ."

"Operation? What you mean?" Hayden asks, curiously.

Rachel sighs, "You didn't really know, but you were in a car accident, Hayden. A terrible one."

Hayden couldn't believe it, as if it was a joke, but he sees Rachel's eyes that she was telling him the truth, and it pained her deeply. 

Hayden said, "You said that I was in a coma, for three months from a car accident? How did-" 

"Someone called 911, and you were sent here, to the hospital, and I came fast I possibly can, Hayden.

It's harder on me, Hayden. You were in a coma, couldn't wake up and I was scared, scared that you wouldn't wake up." 

As she was explaining, Hayden didn't interrupt her. He can sense her emotions that she has experienced during his absence. 

Hayden begins to grow curious of the accident, trying to recollect the incident since he was the victim. 

"I remember that I was on my way to your house, then everything stops , like a pitch black." He said. 

"You did gain some memories about the car accident, don't you?" Rachel said in total amazement. 

Hayden said, "Only a little bit. After that, I don't know, and the first thing I see is you in my hospital room." 

Rachel sighs, "Well, at least you are still the same person I've met. Still, you would be extremely mad when you find out who made you an amputee in the first place, and she makes it even harder than ever." 

"What you mean?" Hayden asks. 

Hathor walks to the hospital nervously. She wants to make sure that her best friend can handle explaining to Hayden about Ashley, if he ever wakes up. 

As she walks towards Hayden's room , she notices Scott and Freddy. 

"Scott, Freddy, you already visited Hayden?" She asks. The boys saw her as they ran towards her.

"Actually, Rachel is inside his room right now, and he is finally awoken up from his coma!" Freddy exclaims happily, as I sigh in total relief. 

"Thank goodness, that he's awake. For a second, I thought that he would never wake up. I feel happy for them." 

Scott nods in total agreement with that statement, but the jock grew concern.

"What is it, Scott? Is something wrong?" Freddy asks the jock with a curious expression on his face.

"Well, I was thinking about how would Hayden would react to find out that the entire school knew about their love for one other... and about ..."

Hathor knew what Scott meant as she flexes her fists, "Yeah, I'm still mad of Ashley has done. Does Mr. and Mrs. Hofferson know what Ashley has done to Hayden yet?"

Scott said, "Principal Valka makes a meeting with them next week, that's what I've heard in school , I believe.

Still, I wonder what Rachel is experiencing right now."

Hathor seems to be curious too, considering that Hayden is finally awaken from his coma.

"Should we go check on them, just be safe?" Hathor asks.

"Nah, I think it's best to let the lovers be. This is their private moment ever since Hayden was in the hospital. " Scott said, knowing that Hayden and Rachel need each other's support and couldn't interrupt their moment. 

"Yeah, you're right. " Freddy said, as he looks at Hayden's room.

Hayden looks at Rachel as she twists her braid nervously, before continuing her explanation. 

"Ok, you know that I have cheerleader team, right? Well, you know the team leader." 

Hayden's eyes grew wide as he slowly realizes who made the car accident. 

Furious, he yells, "Son of bucket, raiding eating witch!"

Rachel knew that he has to calm down as she quickly kisses him on the lips as he cools down by her comfort.

As they pulled away from one other, Rachel said, "I'm not thrilled about it either, Hayden. Believe me, I really want to fight her, but my conscience is telling me that I should be calm and let fate lead the way. 

Fighting isn't you, Hayden. And you know that I'm right. You are special and that's what I like about you." 

Hayden's eyes sparkles as he heard that she likes him. 

"Wait, you really like me, Rachel?" He asks. 

Her face blushes with redness , as if she was embarrassed of the question, but she smiles, "Yes. I do, Hayden. I really do, I know it's so sudden-" 

But Hayden hugs her tightly as he said, "I'm so sorry that I worried you, Rach. I don't want my girlfriend to be sad because of it." 

Rachel couldn't believe it. She thought in her mind, "Wait, am I dreaming? Did Hayden call me his girlfriend?!?"

Rachel pulls from the hug as tears form in her eyes as she said, "Welcome back, Hayden Haddock. " 

Suddenly , there were cheering outside as Freddy , Hathor and Scott burst in, as they were excitement that Hayden and Rachel were finally a couple. 

"Finally! I knew you two were destined to be together, I just knew it!" Hathor said, grinning and nudging her best friend in the shoulder. 

Scott said, "It would be a lot tricky since you have no leg to replace the one you lost, Hayden. But I will try my best to get all the money you need so you can walk again." 

Hayden was stunned by this, "Since you were nice to me, Scott? This changed you. Wait, how you become so easily friendly to Rachel? 

I haven't formally introduce-" 

Rachel and the others laugh at his reaction. "It's all right, Hayden. Scott told me that you were related. " Rachel reassures the boy, "He even allows me to visit your house and help him raise Toothless for a while ." 

Scott said, "I'll be heading home . It's kind of late and it's a school night." 

Freddy said, "I should be going too, I don't want my parents to be mad if I come home late on a school night." 

Hathor fists bumps Rachel, "I'll see you at school." 

"Ok, I'll see you all there. And Scott, we have to beat Outcasts tomorrow night. I'll be loud in the stands cheering you and the team on." Rachel said.

"Thanks, Rach, and don't worry, those boys wouldn't stand a chance against Berksville High!" 

As she was about to leave, Hayden said, "Rach, can... can you please stay with me tonight?"

She said, "Of course I would. Besides, you're my boyfriend after all. I just have to tell my brother and father I'll be staying over." 

Hayden sighs a relief, but he was irate that Ashley did this to him, and when he gets out of the hospital , he would confront Ashley Hofferson, and demand an explanation for doing what made her to cause so much pain to him and Rachel.
