Chapter 40
And that was when Akina felt it. The malice that had been there seemed to triple in strength, and the paralyzing fear she felt made her think of the stories of Zeref. In that moment, she imagined her own death, her body laying limp and bloody. Was this him? The one villain that rules over all villain?
Whoever he is, I wish I never knew a man like this ever existed.
______________
Akina heard a slow clapping from the other side of the wall, but she didn't even dare look to see who was making the noise— she could already guess.
"As expected of the number four hero, Best Jeanist." The villain said. "I thought I'd blown everyone away. To pull and manipulate everyone's clothes and pill them to the side in an instant— that quick decision making... and skill... you must have nerves of steel."
There was some more commotion before a strong scent of blood hit Akina's nose, the mage knowing who exactly was the on to be injured. Best Jeanist... he didn't deserve that. Akina thought.
"This is strength from a huge amount of practice and practical experience. I don't need yours... It's a quirk that doesn't go with Tomura's disposition."
Akina looked over to hear friends, seeing the paralyzing looks of terror on their faces. And just by one look at their trembling bodies, she knew that even if they wanted to, none of them could move.
"Damn it... the hell?" A familiar voice said, causing Akina to perk up.
"Baku... go?" Akina muttered, glancing through a hole in the wall and seeing the said teen now standing in front of the masked villain.
"Sorry, Bakugo." The villain said.
More scents came to Akina's nose, first a tar-like smell, then the scent of decay, a reptile scent, a scent that mingled with other scents, two different scents in one that Akina could've place, as well as two others that she couldn't place.
"Master." A familiar voice said.
Shikigari. Akin thought, remembering the USJ incident.
"You failed again, huh, Tomura? But do not be discouraged. Just try again, I hav brought your associates back as well, even this child. Because you judged that he was an important piece." The villain said, "Do it over as many times as you need to. That is why I'm here, it's all for you."
Of course, Shikigari is learning from this insane asshole. Akina thought to herself.
Next to her, Akina noticed Midoriya starting to move, only stopping when Iida grabbed his arm to hold him back, and Akina saw that Midoriya noticed just the amount of shock and horror the others were in. It was almost like they were all thinking the same thing.
How can we get out of here?
"You're here after all, aren't you?" The villain asked, and Akina looke over the wall, watching as All Might appeared through the smoke.
"I'll have you return everything!" All Might exclaimed. "All For One!"
All For One? Is that the villain's name? Akina thought, watching through the hole as the number one hero and All For one clashed, a rush of wind blowing past her from the contact, soon resulting in a small shock wave that caused whoever was in the warehouse to be flung away.
Akina listened as All For One rambled about All Might getting weaker, and All Might proclaiming that he would take Bakugo back and bring the league of villains to an end.
There was another gust of wind and Akina summoned some vines to hold herself to the ground and to steady herself on the shaking ground.
"All Might!" Bakugo shouted, and Akina risked a glance over the wall, seeing that multiple buildings had crashed down, most likely from All Might being flung through them. The destruction was almost Fairy Tail level. As the villain forcefully opened a warp gate using Kurogiri, All Might had jumped back to where they were.
The battle going on behind the group was intense, though it mostly seemed like All For One was making sure All Might couldn't get to Bakugo, it seemed to Akina that the league was trying to make and escape with Bakugo. Turning her attention to the teen, she noticed that he was avoiding attacks from the other villains, successfully defending himself. Akina's attention went between Bakugo's battle and All Might's battle. The terror she had felt when All For One showed up was slowly subsiding, and she was able to move freely, though she knew that just jumping into the battle without a plan was practically suicide.
"Iida, everyone!" Midoriya whispered, breaking Akina out of her thoughts and turning her attention to him.
"You can't, Midoriya!" Iida said.
"No, there's a way! A way that won't involve fighting that will let us leave this place, but still save Kacchan!"
"Let's hear it." Todoroki said.
"But this plan also depends on Kacchan... I don't think my plan will succeed if I do it. That's why, Kirishima, you're the key to increasing the success rate!"
"Give us more details, Midoriya."
"Right. This is my plan."
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
After Midoriya explained what everyone was going to do, both Todoroki and Iida looked at him like he was crazy.
"That's your plan?" Iida asked.
"Kacchan should also realize the situation All Might is in." Midoriya responded. "He's on guard against the enemy, fighting from a distance. We need to do this at a time when Kacchan is a certain distance away from the enemy."
"It's risky, but it's the only plan we've got, and sometimes, having a plan is better than not having one." Akina said, "I'm in."
Wrapping her vines around Kirishima and feeling Iida and Midoriya grab onto the two of them, she felt herself immediately get shot forwards through the wall— using Kirishima's hardening to break through the wall. It didn't take long before a ramp of ice was created, allowing the whole group to propel themselves over the battle field. As they did that, Akina summoned some vines out of her back and casted a spell.
"Nature Dragon: Basilisk!" The giant snake erupted and Akina wrapped the newly formed vines around it and her friends, making sure they were all secure. The basilisk being there made sure they didn't just suddenly fall to their deaths.
"Bakugo!" Kirishima shouted, getting the teen's attention.
Looking down, Akina watched as Bakugo generated explosions and flew through the air, clasping onto Kirishima's outstretched hand.
"You stupid or something?" Bakugo asked.
Making the Basilisk disappear, Bakugo set off another blast as they started to arc downwards towards a building, keeping the group up in the air. Looking behind her, Akina watched Mt. Lady grow in size and stop one of the villains from catching up with them— though she did stop him with her face.
"Mt Lady!" Midoriya shouted, seeing the same scene as well.
"Prioritize... the rescue... Go... stupid kids." Mt. Lady forced it before falling to the ground.
Once the group landed safely, Akina retracted the vines back and let out a breath, relief washing over her. She hated having to flee, but this was one of the times where she had to if she wanted to survive. That man's malice and fighting ability were on par with some of Earthlands darkest villains.
Calming herself down, Akina walked through the crowd, chaos happening all around her. She had gotten separated from the others, but she could smell that they were both somewhere within the crowd and safe.
"Akina. What are you doing here?" A voice asked, and the mage jumped, fear starting to rise as she turned around to see a familiar mage dressed in more modern clothing.
"E-Erza. What a funny coincidence." Akina said, clapping her hands together and smiling at the mage. "I didn't expect to see you here. What brings you?"
"I was just out seeing what this world was like when I was told to evacuate. You wouldn't have anything to do with that, would you?" She sent a glare Akina's way and the mage started to feel a cold sweat through her.
"I mean, I wouldn't say I directly had anything to do with it." Akina said, feeling Erza's glare strengthen. "Fine! I went with some others to save Bakugo! I didn't fight anyone so you can't blame me for any of this damage." She said.
Erza just sighed. "Honestly, you're almost as bad as Natsu sometimes."
"Speaking of which, where is he?" Akina asked.
"He's right here, along with the other two—" Erza started, only to cut herself off when she realized that she was standing alone.
Getting a creeping suspicion that Natsu ran off and the other two followed, Akina glanced towards the screen that was currently broadcasting the fight.
"And it looks like three other people have appeared to the battle! I don't recognize them, could they be upcoming heroes?" The newscaster said
"Fuck." Akina said. "Does this mean we have to go back there and drag him out of this?"
Erza didn't respond, and only turned and walked away, leaving Akian to chase after her, the asked question being answered by the older mage's silence.
Once they arrived, they saw Gray and Lucy holding Natsu back from jumping into the battle, which was a good thing because Akina assumes Natsu had already done some fighting just by looking at the collapsed and slightly charred buildings around them.
"Natsu, I told you we weren't going to get caught up in the fights if this world unless absolutely necessary." Erza said, getting the attention of the struggling mages.
"Well, this battle seemed like it involved us, I mean, look at how intense it is!" Natsu complained, getting out of Gray and Lucy's grips and turning towards Erza.
"No. All Might's got this one." Akina said, looking towards the now Skeletal All Might who had just delt a strong blow to One For All's face. "We need to leave this to the heroes of this world. Plus this is being broadcasted and if anyone found out about magic and our world, I can only imagine what would happen."
"I think we should listen to Akina." Lucy said, "Besides, that man over there doesn't have a face and it's creeping me out."
Natsu just huffed, crossing his arms and stomping away from the battle. "Fine, but somebody owes me a battle once we get back to Fairy Tail."
Akina let out a small laugh, following Natsu and the others as they walked away from the battle, mingling with the rest of the crowd in the city streets, all of them cheering for All Might.
Stopping and looking up at the screen, seeing All Might with his fist directly up in the air, as she had suspected, it had been near the end of the battle, and it seemed as if All Might had won it.
As the sun was rising, the reporter had gotten onto the scene and was reporting about the casualties until she caught sight of All Might. Instead of allowing her to rush over to him and interview him, he pointed straight at the camera.
"Next. Next it's your turn." He said.
"All Might! You really are amazing after all...!" A woman in the crowd shouted as everyone burst into cheers. Though through the noise, Akina heard a familiar sobbing.
Looking over she saw Midoriya in tears as the crowd around him cheered. She knew that something was up, but she decided against going over and talking to him. Instead turning and following her guild mates through the crowd.
