Chapter 39

The group had moved away from the crowd and were now walking through a neighborhood. Stopping at the edge of a building, just before a corner, Momo glanced around, seeing if the coast was clear.

"This is the spot the receiver is showing." Said said.

Akina glanced around the corner, seeing a rather run down warehouse standing tall in front of them.

"So that's their hideout... it really looks like one." Kirishima stated.

"I don't know if it's their hideout of not, but from what I can see on the receiver, the villain has not left here for the past day." Momo turned to face the group , "Also, just because that villain is here does not mean Bakugo is. We are here with very little to go on. Please think of that objectively."

"Hayashi, can you smell anything?" Midoriya asked, looking at the mage.

Sniffing the air, Akina tried to get a trace of Bakugo, but there were too many strong scents around her for her to find a specific one. Most of the scents coming from the warehouse were animalistic. "No, there are too many smells mingling together over here that's it's hard to pinpoint anything specific. Sorry."

"No, it's alright." Midoriya said, and he started to mutter, putting his hand to his chin as he tried to think out a plan. After a few minutes, he decided that they should all huddle up nearby a ending machine to watch the entrance of the hideout. So far it seemed as if nothing was happening.

"There's no reaction even though we've gotten this close." Momo muttered, putting Akina's thoughts into words.

"The lights aren't on, either. It doesn't look like anyone's in there."

"To hide a tree, use the forest." Todoroki said.

"Nature reference. Nice." Akina muttered, not loud enough for anyone to of heard her.

"I guess they're hiding as an abandoned warehouse."

"The weeds under the front door are pretty thick." Midoriya observed.

The strong smell of booze hit Akina's nose, and she noticed two obviously drunk men saunter over to the group.

"Hey, what're ya doin', hostesses?" One of them asked. "Come drink wit us!"

"Stop that idiot!" The other one said, slapping his friend on the back of his head.

As Iida and Midoriya used their lines from when they were walking out of the shop, Akina cleared her throat and narrowed her eyes. "You think you can mess with me or any of my friends?" She asked, her voice similar to that of a gang member. "Well, you've got another thing coming to you if you don't back the fuck up." By now, she was in the persons face, her teeth bared in a threatening way as she glared at the two men, who seemed scared shitless now. "If you want some fun, why don't you go run back to someone who doesn't have any standards." At that, the two men ran away, and Akina could feel the surprised eyes of her classmates on her. Turning around, she gave them an innocent smile. "Alright, I suggest we find somewhere else to stand watch."

-_-_-_-_-_-_-

"There aren't many people walking by, but there are some." Todoroki stated.

"We can't do anything to stand out. What should we do?" Momo asked.

Midoriya looked over towards the warehouse, "Let's try going around to the back."

With that, the group moved and snuck around to the back of the abandoned warehouse, shuffling between a wall and the wall of a house.

"This is very narrow." Momo muttered. "I feel like I will get stuck."

"No one will see us here as we move." Midoriya stated, "We don't want to risk being seen by anybody walking outside." There was an audible gasp from him as the teen looked up, Akina following his gaze to see a barred window not too high up. "And at that height, we should be able to see inside too!"

"Will we be able to see anything in this darkness?" Todoroki asked.

"I can make a night vision scope—" Momo started.

"Wait Yaoyorozu! Actually I brought one with me..." He pulled out a par of night vision goggles.

"Good going, Kiri." Akina said.

"Wow, why?" Midoriya asked.

"When I thought about what we'd have to do, I thought we'd need them."

"But isn't that super expensive? I did research on the online when I was thinking about my costume, but if I remember correctly, they cost around fifty thousand yen..."

"Who cares about how much they const? Stop talking about it!" Kirishima said.

Wow... if he spent that much on this mission, he really cares about Bakugo... Akina thought.

"Okay, then Midoriya and Kirishima, you two look through it. Iida and I will carry you on our shoulders. Akina, make sure they're stable."

Akina nodded, and everyone started moving around— some complaints about it being too crowded and being able to run the second it might get dangerous flew around. Once they were up, Akina summoned some vines and made sure the two were stable on top of Iida and Todoroki's shoulders.

"Kirishima, what's inside?" Todoroki asked.

Akina watched as the boy put the goggles up to his face, looking through the bars and into the abandoned warehouse. "It's just dirty, I don't really see anything..." he cut himself with a gasp and moved back, as if he was trying to jump away form something. Making sure he didn't fall, Akina helped steady him as he calmed himself down.

"What's wrong? What can you see, Kirishima?" Todoroki asked.

"In the back on the left...! Midoriya, look in the back on the left." Kirishima said, his voice shaking with terror.

Midoriya took the goggles and looked exactly where Kirishima told him to look, "No way..." he muttered, his voice starting to tremble as well. "Are those... all.. Nomu?"

"Nomu? Are you sure Midoriya?" Akina asked.

Midoriya nodded, "There's no doubt about it." He said fearfully.

Akina gritted her teeth, ready to bust into the warehouse when the ground shook for a small moment. Looking towards the alleyway, she saw a giant foot lift up a nearby truck. And it wasn't long before there was a loud crumbling noise and a strong wind that blew through the alleyway.

Covering her ears to slightly block out the loud crashes coming from the crumbling building, Akina used her vines to make sure all the others weren't blown away from the force of the wind, as well as that, she moved both Midoriya and Kirishima safely down to the ground so that they would be standing behind the wall— in case any heroes might look over in their direction.

It seemed that Best Jeanist, Tiger, Mt. Lady, Gang Orca, and a team of police officers had swarmed the building, rendering the Nomus unable to move. But it seemed to easy for them. Even if they were weaker than the one at the USJ, they were still probably very strong for the pro heroes. Of course the heroes mentioned that, and Mt. Lady asked if they should be with All Might.

"He heroes were already moving way before we were!" Iida said, breaking Akina out of her thoughts. "Now, let us fall back immediately. There's nothing left for us to do now."

Iida was obviously trying to get them to leave, and it was understandable, since this was a dangerous situation for a group of untrained heroes and one mage.

"If All Might is there, then there's even more reason to rest easy." Momo said. "No, hurry!" The group started to move along the alleyway. Though behind her, both Todoroki and Midoriya stopped, causing the mage to look over at them.

"Sorry, Tiger, She's always had a good quirk." A new voice from inside the warehouse, getting Akina's attention.

It wasn't that it was a new speaker, no, it was the fact that even though she couldn't see him, she could feel the malice coming off of him in waves. "It was the perfect opportunity to steal it."

"Are you with the league?" One of the heros' Gang Orca, asked.

"After my body turned to this, I also depleted a lot of what I'd stocked up..." the newcomers voice trailed off, and Akina heard Mt. Lady saying something along the lines of the newcomer possible being a citizen. Though, Akina assumed the capture attempt ended up badly, since there was a huge explosion behind her, causing the building to start falling to pieces, the warehouse wall crumbling to nothing.

And that was when Akina felt it. The malice that had been there seemed to triple in strength, and the paralyzing fear she felt made her think of the stories of Zeref. In that moment, she imagined her own death, her body laying limp and bloody. Was this him? The one villain that rules over all villain?

Whoever he is, I wish I never knew a man like this ever existed.
