Chapter 30
It was soon the day where everyone would be heading to the summer training camp. And Akina was standing with her classmates listening as Aizawa was giving them a small speech about how the camp would be a time for everyone to improve their quirks greatly. Afterwards, everyone split into different groups, excited chatter drifting through the air.
She let out a laugh as Mina, Kaminari, and Uraraka jumped around repeating Training Camp over and over, goofy grins on their faces. Though it wasn't long before the scent of an unpleasant person reached her nose. Turning around, Akina spotted Monoma standing a few feet away from Class 1-A, going on a tangent.
"What? There are people in Class A taking extra classes? Does that mean you had people who failed the finals? What? Isn't that weird? Isn't that weird? Even though you're supposed to be way better than Class B? How can that be?"
Akina was just about to punch the boy in the face when someone else from his class, Kendo as Akina knew, and hit him on the back of his neck, causing the blond to pass out.
"Sorry!" She apologized before dragging the boy into the bus.
"Not just girls from class A, but girls from Class B will also be there! It'll be like a buffet we can pick and choose from!" Mineta exclaimed.
"Don't be a freak." Akina stated, hitting the smaller boy in the back of his head with a vine before turning and walking towards the bus that was for their class. "Hey, Kiri. I have a question." She started, looking at the red haired boy with a pleading smile on her face.
"I'm not knocking you out." Kirishima stated plainly.
"Please! I heard this bus ride is going to at least an hour and a half! If you were a good friend you wouldn't let me suffer through something like that fo this long!" Akina pleaded.
"I'm not doing it Aki. Sorry, but you'll have to suffer. Fight it like a man!"
Why do I feel like Elfman is lecturing me? Akina asked herself, trudging onto the bus right behind Kirishima.
Once the bus was moving, Akina groaned, feeling the motion sickness coming over her almost immediately. She knew Aizawa was informing them of something but it took most of her focus to keep from vomiting up her breakfast.
Throughout the bus ride, Kirishima and Mina had to stop Akina from trying to jump out the window at least ten different times, until they has Sero tape her to the seat, making her unable to move.
"I'm always so surprised by how weak you get on buses, Hayashi." Hagakure stated. "When you fight you're always so strong, and yet here you're just... a mess— no offense."
"None taken." Akina muttered, wishing for the bus to stop moving. Once it finally did for a pit stop, Akina jumped out of the vehicle and let out a relived sigh. "Thank Mavis." She muttered, stretching out her muscles.
"There's no point in stopping without a reason." Aizawa announced, getting the attention of the class.
Nearby, the doors of a nearby car burst open and Akina looked towards them, the scent of earth and a scent similar to Warren's hit her nose— as well as the feint scent of water.
"Hey, Eraser!" One of the people in the car said, getting out of the vehicle.
"Long time no see." Aizawa said, bowing in greeting.
The two people who came out of the car smiled before performing what Akina thought as their catchphrase.
"Lock on with these sparkling gazes!" The brunette exclaimed.
"Stingingly cute and cat-like!" The blonde continued.
"Wild, Wild, Pussycats!" The two finished together.
"These are pro heroes who will be working with us during the camp, the Pussycats." Aizawa said.
Akina looked at the two with a sparkling expression. They're in cat costumes. She thought as Midoriya started to fanboy about the heroes, and as the blonde, who Akina knew as Pixie-bob, exclaimed that she was 18 at heart.
"Greet them everyone." Aizawa instructed.
"Nice to meet you!" The class shouted.
Akina watched as the brunette walked towards the fence, motioning over the forest that reached far in front of them.
"We own this whole stretch of land here. You all will be staying at the foot of that mountain." The brunette, known as Mandalay explained, pointing towards a mountain that was far off in the distance.
"Huh? Then why did we stop here?" Uraraka asked.
Wait, they don't expect us to get all the way to that training camp on foot, do they? Akina asked herself a her classmates started to come to the same realization, some even attempting to go back to the bus.
"It's 9:30 a.m. right now. If you're fast... Maybe around noon?" Mandalay said, a grin on her face.
"Bring it on." Akina said, a grin appearing on her face as her classmates were now really moving to get back to the bus.
"Kitties who don't make it by 12:30 won't get any lunch!" Mandalay shouted.
Before any of her classmates could get to the bus, the ground started to rise up from under them, throwing them all the forest floor. Akina looked towards the forest, deciding not to listen to what Mandalay said— only hearing that they were able to use their quirks freely
"All right, guys! Let's do this! If we can get through this forest quickly, I bet food will be waiting for us!" Akina exclaimed.
"Yeah!" Everyone cheered, until there was a mighty roar from behind Akina, causing the mage to turn around and see a creature that smelt of wood and earth.
"Aw man! We get to fight these guys! Awesome!" Akina exclaimed, pumping her fist into the air as her classmates looked at her as if she were crazy. "This really brings me back to where I came from!" Jumping forwards, she used her vines to swing on one of the trees before aiming a fist at the beast. "Nature Dragon: Claw!" She shouted, punching the creature on it's head and watching as it crumbled to the ground, her falling and landing in a pile of dirt. Brushing herself off, she turned and looked at her classmates, who were staring at her in disbelief. "Come on, these guys are easy!"
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Even if the beasts were easy to beat once everyone got into a rhythm of fightning them, the sheer amount of them caused the class to spend more time on fightning through the forest than what Mandalay had mentioned. By the time they had made it though, the sun was already setting.
"Oh, you're finally here, meow!" Pixie-bob exclaimed, a smile on her face.
"That took quite some time." Mandalay said.
The class trudged out of the forest, exhausted and dirty, even Akina was tired. Though her hunger kept her from falling asleep as she was standing up.
"What do you mean, three hours?" Kaminari shouted.
"That's the time it would of taken us. Sorry!" Mandalay exclaimed.
"You were trying to boast about how much better you are?" Sato asked. "That's mean."
Pixie-bob giggled, and looked towards the exhausted class. "But honestly, I thought it would take even longer. You guys didn't have as hard a time beating my earth beasts as I thought you would. You guys are great... Especially... you five!" She pointed towards Midoriya, Iida, Bakugo, Akina, and Todoroki. "We're you able to act without hesitation because of your experience? I'm looking forwards until the four of you guys will be in three years!" She exclaimed, pouncing towards the small group.
Four? What about me? Akina thought as Pixie-Bob surrounded the four boys, even though she complained to herself, the mage was slightly grateful that the hero wasn't pestering her like she was with the boys.
Akina wsaw Midoriya walk up to boy who was not to far off from the group— Mandalay's nephew who went by the name Kota— and watched as the boy punched Midoriya right in the crotch.
"Why would you do that to Midoriya's scrotum?" Iida asked.
"I don't intend to hand out with guys who want to become heroes." Kota said.
Damn for a little kid he's kinda harsh. Akina thought.
"Enough with this charade. Get your stuff off the bus." Aizawa said, getting the classes attention. "Once you've put your bags in tour rooms, we'll have dinner in the cafeteria. After that, you'll bathe and go to sleep. We'll start for real tomorrow. Now, move quickly."
It wasn't long until everyone had gotten their stuff off of the bus, most of them recovering slightly from the forest. Once they were settled, they headed to the cafeteria to get some food.
Stuffing her face full of rice, the hunger Akina felt was starting to subside.
"Are you on your fifth bowl, Aki?" Hagakure asked, her tone full of shock.
"Mmhm. Those forest beasts really made me hungry!" Akina explained. "Though I have a few friends that could out eat me in an instant."
"Really? That's insane!" Hagakure shouted.
After emptying the bow, Akina let out a sigh. "Man, that was amazing. Now, onto the baths!"
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
It wasn't long until Akina was sitting in the hot springs with the other girls, feeling relaxed.
"This feels great!" Mina exclaimed, a wide grin on her face.
"I love that there are hot springs here." Momo stated.
Akina nodded. "This really takes me back." She muttered under hear breath, remembering all the times she relaxed in the hot springs with some of her guild mates.
Hearing some commotion on the other side, the noise of someone climbing the wall made it's way to Akina's ears, and the dragon slayer let out a sigh as she heard the shrill scream of Mineta and a splash as she assumed he fell into the water.
Of course he would try something like that. He never learns, does he? Akina asked herself.
"Thank's Kota!" Mina shouted, waving up to the young boy who looked down to at the girls, who Akina assumed forgot were naked, since he recoiled and fell over the other side of the wall.
Not hearing a splash, Akina waded over towards the wall, "Hey, is he okay?" Akina shouted.
"Yes! Midoriya was able to catch him in time!" Iida shouted back, causing the girls to let out a sigh of relief.
"Well, now that that scare if over, Aki, you keep mentioning you family and where you came from, but you haven't gone into detail about any of it. We want to know your past!" Hagakure shouted. "I mean, it goes without saying that you're super strong and that incidents like the USJ or the forest beasts don't bother you as much as they should, so what gives?"
Akina placed her hand to her chin. "I guess I could tell you guys some stuff."
"Awesome! I bet your family's really interesting!" Uraraka exclaimed.
"Interesting barely cuts it. I bet if you met them you wouldn't know how to act. A normal greeting usually involves getting a table thrown at you. Sometimes a ball of ice, some fire... a sword... maybe some iron. Honestly when you open the door up you have no clue who's going to greet you." She saw the horrified looks she was getting and let out a small chuckle. "Ah, don't worry, we don't hate each other or anything! We're just really rambunctious and kind of destructive. If I'm being honest, I'm probably the one of the most sane out of the family aside from Gramps and like three others." Akina said, waving her hands in the air.
"You're one of the more sane ones?" Uraraka asked, a horrified look on her face.
"Oh yeah. There are some people who could flatten this forest if they put their minds to it." Akina stated. To be honest, they wouldn't really have to think about it. Natsu would do it by accident.
"No way." Jiro stated. "You family is hardcore."
Akina laughed and scratched the back of her head. "You could say that." She said.
"I wonder if we'll ever meet them." Mina said. "I mean, you have to find them eventually, right?"
"Yeah... it would be nice to see them again." Akina muttered, unaware that she would be seeing some members of Fairy Tail much sooner than she had expected to.
