Chapter 23

The two days of break had passed by her quickly, and Akina was soon sitting in her classroom, chatting with her classmates.

"It's so weird that people recognize us from TV! Everyone wanted to talk to me and Aki on the way here. Mostly Aki though, since she did win third place."

Akina lightly punched Mina's arm, "Oh, shush. There were a good amount of people who wanted to talk with you, Mi."

"Yeah me too!" Kirishima said, a wide smile on his face.

"You wouldn't believe what a group of elementary school brats yelled at me." Sero stated.

"Nice try?" Asui guessed, which was confirmed by a groan from Sero.

"Aw, you can't blame them Sero, you were up against Todoroki for your first match." Akina stated, patting the boy on the shoulder with a warm smile. "And it was a nice try." The last part was purely her teasing the poor boy, who seemed like he was about to cry.

"What did I do to deserve this?" Sero asked, mostly to himself.

The door suddenly slid open and almost like it was rehearsed, everyone moved to their seats and looked up towards the front.

"Good morning Mr. Aizawa." They said as the tired man walked up to the front of the room.

"Ribbit, Mr Aizawa, you don't have bandages anymore. That's good news." Tsuyu pointed out.

"The old lady went a little overboard in her treatment. Anyway, we have a big class today, on hero informatics." He said as the class started to tense up at those words— most thinking that it might be a pop quiz. "You need code names. Time to pick your hero identities." He continued, leading to the class cheering out in excitement. It wasn't long until Aizawa activated his quirk and everyone was sitting in their seats quietly. Once it was silent, he continued. "This is related to the hero draft picks I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally students don't have to worry about the draft yet— not until the second or third year actually, but your class is different. In fact, by extending offers to first years like you, pros are essentially investing in your potential. Any offers can be taken away if their interest in you dies down before graduation."

"So we're still going to have to prove ourselves after we've gotten recruited?" Hagakure asked.

"Correct. Now, here are the totals for those of you who got offers." He aimed a remote towards the board and names started to pop up with numbers right beside them.

Upon seeing her name, Akina let out an audible gasp. Her name was planted right between Todoroki and Bakugo, her final number of offers coming to 4031.

"I didn't even know there were that many heroes." Akina muttered to herself, "That's insane."

"In past years it's been spread out, but this year there's a pretty big gap."

Around her, people were groaning about how they had gotten no offers or excited that they got some offers, some even pointed out that Todoroki got first while Bakugo got third, different than how they placed at the festival.

Probably because that explosive idiot scared some of them off. Akina thought.

"Despite the offers, you'll all be interning with Pros. Got it? Even those of you who didn't get any offers."

"Sounds fair." Akina muttered to herself as Midoriya asked a question that she didn't catch.

"You all got to experience real villains with the attack on the USJ facility. But it'll still be helpful to see pros at work, up close and personal, in the field, first hand."

"And we need hero names for that! Oh man, this is sounding really fun!" Hagakure exclaimed.

"These names will be temporary, but take them seriously or-"

"You'll have hell to pay later!" A new voice interjected, causing everyone to look towards the door to see Midnight standing there with a smile. "What you pick today could be your code name for life. You better be careful, or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."

"Yeah. She's got a good point. Midnight is going to have final approval over your names." He bent down and grabbed something that was behind the podium he was at, straightening up to reveal a yellow sleeping bag in his hands. "It's not my forte. The name you give yourself in important. It helps reinforce your image and shows what hero you want to be in the future. A code name tells people exactly what you represent."

Grabbing the board that was passed back to her, Akina looked down at the blank slate and thought hard, going back to times when she was in Fairy Tail.

"Everyone here seems to have a nickname." Lucy said, sitting next to Akina at the bar. The girl had joined just the day before and had gotten pretty friendly with most of the guild already— and that included Akina. "Why don't you?"

"I do. It's just not really an official one that the public calls me. Mostly it's something only my guildmates use, along with the occasional out of guild friend." Akina said.

"Really? What is it?" Lucy asked, curiosity in her eyes.

"It's *****"

With a smile, Akina wrote the name down on the board.

"All right everyone, who wants to share their name first?" Midnight asked. The question seemed to put panic in the eyes of some of her classmates. After a small moment of nothing happening, Aoyama got out of his seat and walked up to the podium, a smile on his face as he flipped his board around to show the class.

"I can not stop twinkling! Mon ami, you can't deny my sparkle." He said.

Akina snickered. That's seriously his name? What a laugh!

"It'll be better this way." Midnight said, writing some stuff down on Aoyama's board. "Take out the I and shorten the can not to can't."

She's really letting him stick with that? Akina asked with an unamused expression. Next up was Mina, jumping up to the podium and proudly showing her board to the class.

"My code name: Alien Queen!"

"Hold on, like that horrible monster with the acidic blood? I don't think so." Midnight said as she flat out rejected the idea.

"Dang it." Mina groaned as she walked back to her seat.

Before Akina was able to get up, Tsuyu raised her hand, going up to the podium. "I've had this name in mind since grade school. Rainy Season Hero: Froppy."

That's actually really adorable. Akina thought as the tense air in the room vanished as everyone started to cheer out Tsuyu's hero name that had just been approved by Midnight.

Not hesitating, Akina went up to the front of the classroom with his board, a wide grin on her face. Flipping it over, she showed it to the classroom. "I'm going to be The Fairy Tail Hero: Dryad!" She announced, raising her hand in the air, her thumb and pointer finger outstretched towards the sky.

"A perfect name that describes your quirk perfectly!" Midnight said, giving Akina a thumbs up. "Oh, but it seems you've spelled Fairytale wrong."

Akina shook her head, lowering her hand. "No. It's correct. It's supposed to make people wonder— Do fairy's have tails? It's a mystery just like the stories." Ignoring the confused looks on her classmates faces, she took her board and sat back down in her seat, a pleasant smile on her face as she watched everyone else pick out their own hero names.

After everyone had chosen their names— well, everyone except Bakugo who was sent back multiple times because his names didn't work for a hero— Aizawa stood up in front of the class, a stack of papers in his hands.

"Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we can go on talking about your upcoming internships. They'll last for one week. As for who you'll be working with, those of you who were on the board will choose from among your offers, everyone else will have a different list. You have a lot to think about. There are around forty agencies across the country who have agreed to take on interns from your class. Each agency has a different specialty that it's heroes focus on. Keep that in mind. Think carefully before you decide."

Akina was looking though her list as the bell rung, signifying that it was time for lunch.

"Please keep in mind to have your requests before the weekend." Aizawa said, heading out of the room behind Midnight.

"We've only got two days?" Sero asked.

"Yeah, so you should start now. You're dismissed."

Sitting in her desk munching on some crackers, Akina read through her list. It wasn't long before she had collected three heroes she wanted to intern with for a week.

The first hero was Kamui Woods, since his quirk was similar to her magic Akina figured she might figure out different ways she could use it, as well as maybe some new spells that she never knew she could cast, even if there was no official spell book in this world.

The second hero was part of a group, her name was Pixie-Bob. Her quirk focused more with the earth, which Akina couldn't control herself since it technically wasn't within the Nature category her magic covered. The heroine seemed like a good fit for Akina since they had similar abilities.

The third and last hero she had put down was Edgeshot, the current number five in the hero rankings. While there were no apparent relations between their abilities, Akina thought that interning under one of the top five heroes would be a good way to get a harsher and more informative internship.

Humming to herself as she headed to the teachers lounge, Akina held the request paper tightly in her hand, a small sway to her walk. Though she might not be in this world for the rest of her life, Akina thought that being successful would help her out in the long run.

"Besides, I'll be able to show everyone how strong I got while I was here. Maybe the next time I see them, I'll challenge Natsu to a fight."
