Chapter 21
A smile appeared on Mina's face, and just as she was about to touch her, Akina's body moved to the side, pushing Mina's back lightly and causing her to loose her center of balance and fall forwards, a loud grunt coming from the pinkette's mouth. She was about to get up before Midnight started to speak.
"Ashido is out of bounds! Hayashi continues onto the next round!"
———————
The next two matches consisted of Kirishima against Bakugo- being won by Bakugo's overwhelming power, and that battle ended the third set of matches, and the fourth started with Iida against Todoroki, Todoroki winning by cornering Iida and freezing the exhaust pipes so Iida couldn't dodge the oncoming ice attacks.
It wasn't long before the second, and final, match of the fourth set was about to start, this one being Akina against the one and only Bakugo Katsuki.
The said Dragon Slayer was sitting in the waiting room, waiting for the ice that Todoroki had summoned to be melted off of the stage. After seeing how intense Bakugo could be, Akina was slightly nervous for the oncoming match. Sure, she had fought Dark Wizards who were ten times as scary and strong as Bakugo, as well as sparred with Natsu, but Bakugo held a type of intimidating aura to him.
"If Choco were here she'd probably tell me not to worry so much." Akina muttered, letting out a small chuckle. "Damn. I really miss her." Running a hand through her hair, she sighed, hearing Present Mic make the announcement that the next match would be starting soon. Getting up from her seat, Akina walked out of the waiting room and down the tunnel that lead towards the main stage that was now ice free, though still a little chilly.
"And there we go folks! The ice has been melted and the next match is starting!" Present Mic announced, cueing that it was time for Akina and Bakugo to start walking towards the stage.
"He's proven his explosive strength countless times before, and is well on his way to becoming top dog, Class 1-A Bakugo Katsuki! Versus; she's shown her battle strategy as well as her power, but is that all she's made of? From Class 1-A as well, Hayashi Akina!"
The crowd was going wild as the two were walking to the main stage, and Akina used her enhanced hearing to listen to the chatter that was going on behind her.
"Oh, poor girl. She doesn't stand a chance against that boy's explosions. Her vines will be all burnt up before they even get to him."
"It will be interesting to see how she handles against someone who has such a strong advantage."
What a shame, they underestimate me, don't they? Akina thought, a smile appearing on her face.
Once the two were on the platform, their eyes met.
"I'm not going to go easy on you just because your quirk is at a disadvantage." Bakugo grunted.
"I wouldn't have it any other way." Akina responded, narrowing her eyes slightly. "And don't be too torn up once I pummel your ass to the ground."
Bakugo scoffed, an amused expression on his face. "I won't be. Because that won't happen."
"We'll see."
"Let the last battle of the fourth match, begin!"
An explosion was immediately set off, creating a cloud of smoke that encompassed the both of them. Lifting her nose in the air, Akina sniffed the air, trying to catch Bakugo's scent through all the smoke. Turning around on her heel, she found herself face to face with the blond. Flicking her hand, a vine wrapped around her own waist and she was thrown Ishtar out of the smoke cloud, sliding to a stop just before the boundary line.
He's fast. Akina thought, watching as the blond erupted out of the smoke and headed in her direction. Jumping up and flipping around in mid-air, Akina sliced her arms through the air, "Nature Dragon: Wing Attack!" She shouted, sending the beam of energy towards him. They were stopped by an explosion just as they almost made contact with him.
"You think those little tricks could hurt me? I've seen all your tricks! They're all just shitty weak leaf attacks with fancy names and fancy looks." Bakugo said once Akina had landed, facing him.
Akina started laughing, seeing a look of slight confusion cross Bakugo's face. "You think those are my only attacks? Oh, you're in for a big fucking surprise."
The confused expression on Bakugo's turned into one of fury and a hand was suddenly at Akina's face. It was only a coupe seconds until an explosion was set off, a burning sensation spreading across her face as she stumbled back, rubbing her eyes that had just momentarily been filled with a fiery explosion as well as smoke.
"A close range attack from Bakugo! Hayashi seems to of been blinded by the attack!" Present Mic shouted.
He wasn't too far from the truth, it was hard for Akina to open her eyes, they were watering too much from the attack. Closing her eyes completely, Akina took a deep breath, focusing on her senses. Become one with Nature. She thought to herself, repeating the words her father had said to her throughout her younger years. With another deep breath, all the noise from the crowd around her dissolved into murmurs as shapes started to appear in the darkness. They were faded, but whenever they moved they became bolder. A figure was not too far away from her, and Akina guessed that it could be Bakugo. Not wanting to risk anything, she flicked her hand and summoned a vine that shot up, knocking the figure to the side.
"Woah woah woah!" Present Mic shouted, the crowd going crazy at the attack. "Even though she's blinded, Hayashi managed to land a blow on Bakugo!"
Though the words were quiet, Akina was able to hear them and she smiled slightly. Her assumption was correct. I finally understand what you meant, father. She thought, a second rush of energy flowing through her body. Hearing loud booms from above her, Akina assumed Bakugo was flying over her. By now, the stinging in her eyes had subsided, and she squinted open, only to receive another explosion to the face. It wasn't as strong a the last one, but it still caused her to stumble back.
"Damn, you're relentless, aren't you?" Bakugo asked, sending another explosion in Akina's direction.
This one was more of a smokescreen, since Bakugo noticed that Akina was now able to completely open up her eyes and see what was going on around her. The sensing was great and all, but the problem was that she wasn't able to see the boundary lines all around her, and she risked stepping out of them.
"Well, I guess it's a family trait." Akina responded. Deciding it was finally time to reveal her trump card, Akina got into a stance where she could easily aim an attack at Bakugo no matter where he moved. Placing her hand to her mouth, a magic circle appeared. "Nature Dragon: Roar!" She had only used this spell once at U.A, during the entrance exams against the zero pointer, as well as the USJ incident, though both times were complete chaos.
The beam was aimed directly at Bakugo, who seemed shocked about the amount of power she was able to release. The teen had just barely managed to dodge the attack, but not before he had been grazed by it, one of his legs had been cut up by the leaves, one of the pant legs ripped to reveal multiple fresh cuts where blood was now welling up. The attack made people get quiet. Both from the fact that they didn't expect an attack of that caliber to come from Akina, as well as how the beam had just tore through multiple walls of the stadium, as well as tore up the stage they were on— of course, it was already in pieces from Bakugo's explosions.
"What an attack from Hayashi! Who would of known that she held that much power!" Present Mic shouted, the crowd now cheering loudly.
"Damn bastard! You've been holding back!" Bakugo shouted, holding his hand out and generating tiny explosions, an excited smile on his face. He lunged forwards, propelling him forwards faster as he made his way towards Akina. Reaching his hands forwards and sending an explosion towards her. Jumping back, Akina extended her hand.
"Nature Dragon: Bursting Blossom!" She chanted, the flower pellets getting shot directly at Bakugo, exploding once contact was made. This stopped the blond as he coughed up some of the smoke that had been generated from the explosions. Using that moment of distraction, Akina casted another spell. "Nature Dragon: Wing Attack!" The slices made their way towards Bakugo, who shielded himself with his arms. The attack didn't do much, only tore up his P.E uniform into shreds.
Before Akina could land another attack, Bakugo lunged towards her and grabbed her arm, generating medium sized explosions. Pulling her arm out of his grip and wincing in pain, Akina glanced at it, seeing that some of the layers of skin being blown off of her left arm, her skin where the attack was now becoming a charcoal-like texture. Wincing as she moved it, Akina gritted her teeth. She wouldn't be able to fight with this arm until she had time to heal it.
Bakugo— noticing that the burnt up arm was now out of commission— smiled, lunging towards her left, he aimed an explosion, taking advantage of Akina's new disadvantage, though Akina was fast, able to dodge the blows that were coming from Bakugo, jumping away with her arm waving through the air limply.
"Nature Dragon: Roar!" Akina shouted, sending another beam towards Bakugo, watching as he dodged the attack. Running up to him, she outstretched her uninjured hand, a magic circle traveling up from the palm to the middle of her forearm. "Nature Dragon: Claw!" She casted, aiming the attack at Bakugo.
She managed to land a punch on his jaw, and he took a few steps back, holding the spot that Akina's fist had just made contact with.
The two of them were a few feet apart, both beat up and panting. While she wasn't up against another magic-user, Bakugo was strong competition, able to move around quickly and land strong attacks. Akina might of been strong, but compared to the other dragon slayers— mainly Gajeel, Natsu, Laxus, Sting, and Rouge— she was a few pegs under them in magical strength. Though a bit stronger than Wendy since she had more offensive magic than support like the Sky Dragon Slayer.
"They would of had this battle done in a second." She said to herself. "Maybe... If I knew more." Stumbling back, the pain from her arm was getting to her, that as well as her magic energy was running low. She might of stored up power, but since he tournament started in general, Akina hadn't thought to restore her magic by eating anything. And she was greatly regretting it. Feeling her body fall backwards, Akina found herself staring up at the sky, her body limp.
"I'm sorry, guys. I guess I need to get stronger before I show the full of the Fairy Tail sprit, huh?"
"Hayashi is unable to battle, Bakugo moves onto the next round!"

As Hayashi was being taken to Recovery Girl's office her body was starting to absorb the magic energy that was in the air. By the time she had arrived, she was able to sit up.
"Oh, you look really beat up, dearie." The old woman stated upon seeing the state Akina was in.
"Do I? Well, I didn't mean to concern anyone." She said, a soft smile on her face. "I should have enough magical energy now so you don't have to worry too much on healing me. My ability allows me to heal most wounds I have."
"Oh, that might well be the case, but you should let a professional like me help, dear." Recovery Girl said, looking at Akina with a concerned look.
"No, I can really do this myself." She lifted her previously burnt arm— the charcoal-like skin was now smooth looking and now only a slight bit red, much to the surprise of Recovery Girl. "But I do have a question, do you happen to have any leaves?"
