Prologue
As I look back in my life, I think about my high school sweetheart, my mom, my two sisters, my brother, and, oddly enough, even about my enemy. Yes the enemy. The ones that are crawling through this god forsaken jungle, yes the ones that are killing my buddies, and yes the ones that are the sole reason why we are in this hell hole. Yes I think about them, what their lives were like, how their lives are now, and how like my life, are being changed by this war. Yes, I understand they are my enemy, yes I understand my Drill Sargent "Kill! Kill! Kill 'em all!" But I don't think my comrades understand what oh so little people do. They think war is just about killing your enemy, who is depicted in 100s of ways just so the military can get you to enlist. I didn't join the army because I was stupid, no, I joined because I was smart, or so I thought. I figured "Hey! We are at peace right now! I can do some service and get collage and most everything else at a discount." I was poorly mistaken, and that brings me here, in this fox hole, with the enemy suppressing our positions.
