Usuba's facade.

The gates opened to them automatically. They both knew they were coming. While they were going to the entrance of the mansion, Mineta found out why this place was familiar. He saw it from a distance when he was on his way home from Otogiri with the information. Miyo slowly woke up.
"Danna-sama." she whispered. They stopped. "Where are we?"
"Where we get answers to your nightmares."
"I'm fine. You can put me down."
Mineta hid behind a thick bush in front of the entrance to the mansion. For a reason, because there was Arata waiting for them and an old age man. His authoritative gaze revealed that he was the head of the Usuba family. His voice was very cold.
"Welcome, Kudou Kiyoka. My name is Usuba Yoshirou. I'm glad you brought one of the youngest family member."
"It's my pleasure. But I'd like to know what's going on with Miyo nightmares and the huge power spikes."
"As you wish. Arata! Show them where the living room is. There you will know the truth."
"Yes." he bowed and showed me with his hand to come in. This is where the first major test for Mineta came in. He wanted to sneak up on them, but if one of them spots him when he changes his hiding place, he'll put Kudou in danger. Fortunately, they stopped at the entrance and opened the living room door, so he could quickly crawl in and jump behind one of the statues. He waited until the doors were closed, and then he could interrogate the living room section through the bottom of the door.

Yoshirou started to explain.
"Miyo's gift started to wake up months ago. What she saw as nightmares is actually one of the most powerful Usuba powers. The Spirit Sight."
"What does that even mean?" Kudou asked.
"She is able to communicate with the afterlife. Also, she can enter and manipulate other people's minds. It doesn't matter if she's asleep or not. If she fully learns, she will be the most powerful gift user in all of Japan."
Miyo looked at the old man with shock. She never had the ability, but now it turns out she has it and the strongest one? After all, it might explain why there's so much weirdness around her. Kudou had some questions.
"If the fact of the strongest gift is true, then does she have nightmares?"
"The answer is simple. Because she didn't learn to control her power, it can take over. Fortunately, you came in time to make up for the delay."
"But you didn't say a word to us." he said to Arata.
"We had no intention of telling you anything. After all, it's a family matter, and you don't have a say in it."
"You're realy an Usuba?"
"Yeah, Miyo's cousin. Yoshirou is our grandfather and head of the family. Now comes the best part. You will be forced to surrender Miyo, because you are unable to protect."
"She is not an object!" he blurted out, but Arata smiled. He knows, what he is doing.
"I believe you, but you don't have a choice. You couldn't stop the Saimori family from kidnapping her. Plus, our mansion is protected by the most powerful spells. So she can train here calmly."
"I'll agree to spend a few days here training and learning how to control Spirit Sight. But Miyo will be my wife."
He just shook his head.
"You stubborn moron. You still don't believe the fact, that you can't protect Miyo. In a duel, I can show you that I'm the strongest. If you win, we'll teach her and I accept your marriage. But if you lose, she is mine."
Kudou and Miyo looked each other and nodded.
"Duel accepted."
"Let's go to the garden. You will fight there." Yoshirou stated and opened the door. Mineta hid again and waited for them to leave through the entrance. He was behind the Kudou all the way, but immediately jumped out of the balcony at the door and landed silently again to a thicker bush.

They both went out to the greener part of the garden. Kudou pulled out his sword while Arata took off his glasses and threw them away. Mineta realized that he was wearing them only for deception.
"Like I said, it's a real duel, where death can happen."
"I'm fine with this. Bring it."
He quickly pulled out his revolver and fired two shots. Kudou dodged it and then cut it with his sword and fought back. He tried to shoot his opponent, but when he tried to shoot, the sharp metal split him in half. To Kudou's surprise, the figure became smoke and a shot hit his left shoulder. Arata was a little further away.
"Oops. Sorry. I swear I was aiming for the handle of your sword." he mocked.
"What was that?"
"It's just a clone. Let me tell you a secret about the Usuba lineage. We have never had the vision to fight ghosts or grotesquiers, because our abilities are designed to fight people. This is the reason, why we are the Emperor's personal bodyguards who hunt down dangerous people. But let me demonstrate it in reality. Kage Bunshin!"
There was smoke around both of them. By the time it broke up, 20 of his clones had appeared.
"Get it now? You're not drunk, but you see more of me. That will be your downfall. Give up this fight."
"If that's what you want, I'm gonna have to disappoint you." Kudou said and immediately shot lightning strikes into the crowd. They shot the clones in a row, but soon they'll be re-created. The shots kept coming, but only one was real. Kudou found out and somehow always calculated which one was the real one and defended that shot with his sword. When he felt the area of the lightning strike was complete, he struck. It has already wounded the right hand of Arata and the clones have disappeared.
"You have amazing fighting skills, I'll give you that. If you think you've won... think again."
There were other clones around him. Kudou had no intention of doing this dance again, so he started filling up a fireball. Miyo didn't want to see a bloodbath, so she tried to interviene, but Yoshirou grabbed her wrist.
"Don't do that! You're gonna die, if you try to step in."
"But..."
"Both can draw the line. No one will die."
Kudou fully charged the fireball and shot it at his opponent. The clones got in the way, but each one dispersed and managed to hit him, causing it to roll five meters on the ground. Kudou drew his sword with fire.
"It's over! I win!" he noted and tried to finished, but Miyo stepped between them.
"Danna-sama! Don't do that!"
He succeeded and took advantage of the opportunity. His shot penetrated the clone Miyo and hit his sword holder hand. It fell out of his hand and landed with a metal ring.
"Actually, I win." Arata said and get up. He slowly stepped to Kudou and aimed his gun at his forehead. During the dawn came.
"What are you waiting for? Shoot!"
Miyo's had it this far and wanted to run to Kudou. But then he immidately surrounded by a force field. They desperately tried to hold each other's hands, but the sphere narrowed and disappeared.
"Where'd he go?" she asked in panic.
"Don't worry. I just teleported him and his car back to his apartment. I'll give him the chance to challenge me again, but I'm sure he'll never do it. After all, we are talking about an insensitive person."
Miyo was completely broken inside. She didn't want to believe that she had to give up Kudou forever. He took his gun and held out his hand to her.
"Let's go into the house and get some rest. You can sleep here normally."
There was nothing she could do. She slowly got up and went into the mansion. Mineta was watching them nearby. He really had to restrain himself so he wouldn't smash Arata's face. He knew something, that he was cruelly spineless, but saw this a thousand times worse. He followed them, of course, in constant concealment.

Kudou took a long time after the teleportation to grasp the events. It happened so fast. He tried to hold Miyo's hand for earlier, but now suddenly found himself in front of his apartment, just like his car. He stood up and wanted to go into the apartment when Hazuki opened the door.
"Oh, my God! You're covered in wounds! Where's Miyo?"
"It's a long story, but the point is, with her family."
"What?" she asked. and took him to the apartment, while her arms around him. In the living room he sit down and she began to heal the wounds with her gift. She got the whole story in there, which she was far from satisfied with.
"I say throw in the towel and report this to the Emperor."
"You think he'd believe me?" he asked with a big hiss. "I don't have against the Usuba family."
"Then go back and fight for Miyo. Rest first, of course."
Yurie rushed in.
"Sir! The Special Forces calling you."
"I'm coming."
He goes to the telephone and take that.
"Yes."
"Master Kudou! The Emperor's orders have just come from above. We have to go to the front and fight. All units are exhausted and need rest."
"I'm coming." he answered and hung up. Both Hazuki and Yurie heard it, but they also voiced their opposition.
"Don't worry about the Grotesquier problem."
"Yes. You should fight Miyo right now."
"Sorry, ladies. The Emperor's command above all."
"No way, nrother. You've been tricked, and if you let that happen, you're gonna hurt the Kudou family's reputation." Hazuki said in hard and firm voice.
"What if they try to instigate that poor girl against you?" Yurie asked.
"Mineta has already figured something out."
"Come to think of it... where is he right now?" Hazuki asked suspiciously.
"He's, next to Miyo. He's sneaked next to us, and he's gonna step in if that's what's really happening."
Then he told me about Mineta's plan, which he told her in the car. Hazuki is out of patience.
"Are you seriously crazy? Were you able to send him to the wolves to do your dirty work for you? They could even kill him!"
"He took this task upon himself. He think, that I'm going to have a bigger problem with the crisis."
"Or maybe he deserves Miyo's favor more than you do." Yurie whispered silently, when Kudou snapped.
"What do you know about the weight on my shoulders?! I'd rather fight for the one, I love again and not leave it to someone who's already suffered for us! But I have to deal with a crisis where millions of lives are at stake! Don't you understand this?"
Hazuki was about to answer when she saw, that two tears coming off his face. She came and hugged him, just like Yurie.
"I'm sorry for my rudeness." Hazuki said.
"I hope Mineta isn't get caught and Miyo learns to use his gift. I'm more worried about them now than ever." Yurie added.
"Me, too. I know they are strong and stay by my side. I will protect them and thank them for everything they have to offer. I promise you that when this crisis is over, I will go back to the Usuba estate and get Miyo back. Whatever it takes."
"That's my little brother." said Hazuki and kissed his cheeks.
"Before that, eat the breakfast." Yurie suggested.
"Thank you for being my side. I accept it."

Miyo went through the Usuba mansion in a state of complete remorse. Arata, on the other hand, gave herself the tour as joyfully, as if he had done something huge. In the end, they stopped in front of a bedroom upstairs.
"This will be your room. A true Western luxury that a finest lady, like you deserves." he said and opened the door.
"Thank you." she said with a bow.
"Now go to sleep. If you need to eat, the kitchen is always at your disposal."
"I see."
"Spirit Sight will be taught tomorrow. By the way, I'm sorry for asking, but weren't there three of you?"
"Excuse me, but what do you mean by that?" she asked with a little surprised tone.
"When Yoshirou opened the gate, he mentioned that there was someone else with you."
"Not that I know of. I came in with Kudou. In addition, I'm unconscious and when I woke up, I was in here."
He looked at her face for a while, looking for a lie.
"Then you must have been wrong. Protection spells didn't indicate an intruder."
At the end of the corridor there was a strange boing like sound.
"What was that?"
"Nothing. One of the Usuba children is playing. I told him not to play ball in here. I'll take care of it. I'll leave you to sleep."
"Thank you." she bowed and went into the room. Arata had turned around before, so Mineta had a chance to jump in behind Miyo and hide in one of the closets. He in the meantime found the ball, but not it's owner.
"Little runt! I swear I'll kill Raijin for this. He can't take care of his child." he grumbled, took the ball and goes downstairs. Meanwhile, Miyo went to her bed and sat down on it. She was not tired, but rather consumed by guilt. Mineta had a great opportunity to tell her about his plan. He quietly jumped on the bed and held her mouth from behind.
"Don't scream or make noise." he whispered softly and tried to hold back her hoeing and shouting. "It's me, Mineta."
The statement immediately stopped her. She wanted to ask questions, but he hasn't let go yet.
"I'm gonna let go of your mouth. Don't yell, especially don't tell that motherf*cker, that I'm hiding here. Okay?"
She nodded when he let go. She immediately turned and embraced him.
"I'm really sorry. This is all my fault." She whispered with tears in her eyes. Mineta wiped them out.
"It's okay. I knew there was something sneaky about the Usuba family. That's why I came up with my own plan."
"No, it's not. If I had told Kudou what was wrong with me, we wouldn't be here."
"The fact is that the outcome would not be any different." he nodded a little and stroked her face. "But like I said, I've come up with my own plan and it's on the roll."
"What kind of plan?"
"I watch from the shadows as you learn the Spirit Sight. I have to agree that this is the only way to stop your nightmares. Arata on the other hand deserves zero trust from me. He's very much crossed your marriage. We can say, he's kind of robbed you. If he tries to get serious about break your marriage, I'll punch him in the face."
"Is ddanna-sama mad at me?" she asked broken.
"I think not. He who loves you with all his heart, would never feel anger at you. Now he has a different problem, otherwise he would have demanded a fixed rematch."
"He had every rights."
Mineta hugged her.
"Trust me. So far I've been right, haven't I?"
"Yes." she said with a minimal smile. "I didn't do it last time, but I'm doing it now. I will always be honest with danna-sama."
"Well said. But now, I have a request."
"What is it?"
"Food. I'm hungry, like a wolf."
"Yeah. But how do you want to eat when you have to hide?"
"I'll manage that part. But I have to stay close to you, because then the protection spell doesn't detect me as an intruder in this case."
That's when Miyo saw that on Mineta's right arm was the hair ornament, that she gave him. It had at least two hairs on it.
"Okay. I try to move slowly."
"You need to be calm and at your own pace. Don't give them suspicious." he smiled and turned to the reader. "It's a good thing I'm small. Plus, I feel like I'm in the Migi to Dali. But in this case, I am alone."
Miyo didn't notice that, but opened the door. Mineta immediately snuck into the nearest hiding place. He must be as careful as possible from now on.

That night, a Special Forces unit was preparing to fight in the suburbs of Tokyo. So far, there have been minimal human sacrifices in each battle, but the main parts of the army needed rest. Everything seemed calm, so there was time to prepare. Godou woke up Kudou around mindnight.
"Sir! Wake up!"
He slowly opened his eyes. He barely slept for two hours, which is a big deal. Soon they will have to fight a whole Grotesquier army.
"You spoke in your dream" Godou said.
"I'm sorry." he whispered.
"What do you mean about "Forgive me."?
"Nothing that relates to the present situation." He answered and looked out of the tent. Everything was calm out there. "Report!"
Kazushi, as the leader of the nearby garrison of Tokyo, has already repelled a complete attack. They were unable to eliminate the entire army, but they carried out at least 300 certain killings. No injuries, but very tired."
"I see. How many are they?"
"The scouts said 500 so far. together with the Imperial Army we count 300 people."
"Like the Spartans in the Thermopylae against the Persians."
"I wish we were fighting people like in the legend." Godou sighed, but he felt something strange inside. Like it's a diversion. "Is everything okay with Miyo?"
"Why do you ask?"
"You know, I never felt like anyone was waiting at home. That is why worry is unknown to me. I am only a soldier trained for battle."
Kudou's eyes became a little sad. He didn't even want to tell me what happened to her. He was about to answer when the outpost called out.
"They're coming!"
"Everyone! Take up battle formation!" Kudou shout. They were organized throughout the camp. It didn't take long for the grotesquiers to show up, covering the landscape across the street. Their twisted, twisted bodies and dark tones could only make their screams more frightening. But the team was not afraid. They were waiting for Kudou's orders. It has not yet been released because they were not within attack range. He waited patiently until the first twenty entered their range.
"Charge!"
At his command, everyone shot their gifts in a row. This was because they did not want two opposing techniques to neutralize each other. The game of the elements had a result, as the grotesquiers died in a row. From the outside peoples, it looked like fireworks. From moment to moment, this attack seemed to be successfully repelled, but fifty of them still came to the shields. They tried to break it, but the watchers killed them immediately. The defense was completely successful, as a group of grotesquiers were rather retreating screaming flee.
"Cease fire!" Kuodu gave the order. He quietly watched the field for a possible attack to continue. But everything became completely quiet, and only the torn pieces of land were the remaining traces of the struggle. Godou reported.
"The scouts just sent a telepathic report. The Grotesquiers are really retired."
"How many confirmed kill we got?"
"More than the half of the enemy forces died."
"Got it." He said, and then continued again with a high voice, now to his men. "Everybody, hold. Set up a night watch. Maintain standby status."
"Yes, sir!" they replied and goes back their routines.
"That's unusual, don't you think?" Godou asked.
"What?"
"That the Grotesquiers are fighting so complexly and tactically."
"Yeah, I feel the same." he spake narrowly. Then he returned to the tent and tried to sleep leaning against his wall. All he could think about was Miyo. He hoped he was well and would see her again soon.

The next morning Miyo's training for the Spirit Sight began shortly after breakfast. Arata led her to a special room, Mineta hiding right behind them. Deep down, he praised the her ingenuity, which allowed him to start spying on full stomach. She always gave him food, when no one was looking at her. The room itself was in a special mood, as if they were at the bottom of a well.
"This is where you can learn to control and control Spirit Sight. However, any Usuba bloodline gift that requires mental concentration can also be learned here." Arata started explaining.
"What's the point of my training?" she asked curiously. She has put aside his guilt about Kudou, after all, it is a vital thing on her part.
"Meditation. It can also be described as a conscious dream. We normally have no control over our subconscious. The Spirit Sight is just that. When you had nightmares, you basically had no control over your power. It gives you the ability to take control now."
"How?"
"Well, I have to admit, I don't know. The fact is, my gift is for fighting." he said a little unpleasantly, but after a little coughing, his voice became objective again. "In this situation, the Usuba residence is completely protected both inside and out. That means your power is suppressed. In this room, it will let you release some, but not enough to hurt you."
"Do I have to dream consciously?"
"In a nutshell. You need to rest in the afternoon. You are free to search our library. there you will surely find the right steps to control the spirit sight. I'll leave you to it. Is that okay?"
"Yes. I'll figure it out somehow." she whispered and sat down in the middle of the room. He left, leaving her alone. Mineta thought he didn't have to do any attention now for a few hours. He watched as Miyo closed her eyes and took a deep breath. He turned back to the wall and leaned on it. The breakfast came to his mind suddenly, but it was so empty. Perfectly prepared, but completely tasteless. He already missed the Kudou residence and it's cooking. After all, homemade food is the most delicious, as they say. That's when he realized he was thinking like this was his real first home. Although, how would he know? There has never been such a luxury in life. He can't call his parents' house that, the orphanage was cold, and the student hostel was terribly emotionless. But he feel the Kudou's residence as it's really warm, family-like home. They love him, they care about him and they smile at him honestly. And Miyo treats him like she's his sister. At this point, it would have been best if he could never return to his own time. However, his thoughts were interrupted by an opening door. At first, he thought, that Arata returned, but that made him a much more surprising man. He's got a few muscle colossus in his class, but he was beyond that. It was a miracle that he couldn't just turn normally. He was wearing a traditional white kimono with red spider lilies on the side. Next to him was a four-year-old boy. Miyo also noticed.
"Good day, sir." she stood up and bowed.
"You, too. So you're the newly arrived Usuba family member?" he asked with a deep, basslike tone.
"Yeah. My name is Saimori Miyo. Nice to meet you."
"My name is is Usuba Raijin. Pleasure to meet you. Are you the only one in the room?"
"Yes, I am. I learn the Spirit Sight right now."
The man's face said he didn't believe it. He started looking around the room, but he couldn't see it because of the dim light and the hiding place. Mineta wanted to sigh, but he noticed something disturbing. The child is gone. But that was the least of the problems, because something touched his back.
"Got you." the little boy said. That's when he realized where he'd gone. He managed to get behind. Raijin also looked there.
"Come out, whoever you are. Unless you want to die." he stated. The fear ran through Miyo's face. Maybe that sealed their fate? Mineta came out with his hands raised, behind the finder.
"It's a clever trick, I have to say." he nodded when he spotted the bracelet. "You took advantage of the blind spot in the force field that indicated the break-in. Unfortunately, I have a much more sophisticated sense of power."
"Okay, I get it. I busted and I got the concept." Mineta whispered impatiently. "I don't want to do anything wrong or bad."
"I noticed that. Otherwise, you'd have gone straight for the valuables, or you'd have gone into the library for our secrets. But what I want to know is, why are you hanging around Miyo taking the toughest risk by breaking into the property?"
He had no choice, but to tell the whole truth. Raijin drank his words, but in the end it didn't really look like he was hostile. That's when Mineta got a chance to take a closer look. Seemed like a man who wasn't a good deal to mess with. The child was a bit strange to him. He's black, he's a little weird hair, but he's a cute guy who's looking at them right now. By the time he got to the end of the story, Raijin squatted down at Mineta and patted his on the shoulder. Even though it was mild, he felt his legs crumble at every beating.
"You have noble goals and you are brave. You deserve our respect."
"Thank you."
"So you won't tell Yoshirou about us?" Miyo asked in amazement.
"That old senile old man? And the little pretty boy Arata? I hate them, so I won't. Anyway, he's my son, Itou."
"Nice to meet you." Miyo bowed, squatted and caressed his face. "You're really cute."
"You're pretty."
It was a little strange to hear Raijin say, at least for Mineta.
"What do you mean, you hate him? You are also an Usuba."
"I was disowned five years ago when I didn't want to marry in the family and chose my love instead. Last month, I was reinstated. Since I have no home, and my wife died at that time and all my reserves were taken away by the funeral, I accepted the offer. But I'm sick of their attitude."
"That's explain you kimono..."
Mineta can't say another word, because Raijin raised his hand.
"Hide now! Arata is coming back."
He didn't need any more warnings, because he snuck back silently. He came in when the door opened. The man in question had a kimono in his hand. He noticed them.
"What are you doing here?" he asked contemptuously.
"I wanted to meet Miyo. Also, give him advice on training. Is that a problem for you?"
"Nope. In fact, I'm glad." he said with a quick smile. "I just picked up the kimono used by the Usubas. It's a lot nicer than what she came to. Kudou has no sense of finding the best dress for the most perfect woman."
"I don't care about your insulting remarks to others. I've listened enough since I got here." he said in a disgust tone, and then stood before Arata. "What makes you more upset is your methods in duels."
"What do you mean? I beat Kudou fairly and took from him what he could never appreciate. I've known him for years, and he's an ice-hearted, emotionless man."
"I've seen your entire duel. I'm sick of your methods. You sent a clone in the form of Miyo to stop his attack."
"Don't tell me you didn't do this."
"Never. Only a man who has no honor in his heart and no code of warriors will rise to that level. You don't deserve a real woman."
"Choose your words carefully, wimp." he hissed beetwen his teeth and tried to reach for his gun, but he stopped halfway, because he saw that Raijin's hand was in a fist.
"You'd better give up fighting me. Otherwise, you can expect it to end up worse than our last fight. If the senile old man hadn't stopped me, you'd be in the grave by now."
His eyes showed fear for half a minute. Then he went to miyo and gave her the kimono.
"You're off the hook right now. Lucky for you, there are very few Usuba member among the living. I have no intention of curtailing that."
"I'd like to knock out some of your teeth. Now get out of here. You can't help right now."
Surprisingly, he turned around and left the room and closed the door. Itou listened to the whole conversation silently, but his face was also visible that he hated the man.
"You can come out. He's gone." Raijin said to Mineta. He just came out with surprised face.
"Do you hate each other so much?" he asked.
"That's an understatement. When I got married, he insulted my ex-wife. And I punched him in the mouth."
"And he's not dead? I'm not saying that, but your fists are deadly." he said with amazement.
"I wanted to kill him, but the old man came between us. He was lucky that I didn't hurt old people, children and women until they gave me a choice. But now I want to help you train Miyo."
"I really appreciate the help." she bowed. She couldn't get over the conflict either. "Although, I got a tip on Spirit Sight."
"Let me take a guess. Conscious dreams and such nonsense. Come up to my room. I have a book that can help you. Also, I'll tell you what's going on with the Usuba family."
"Fine."
"Can you follow us, Mineta?" he asked.
"Yeah. If they haven't noticed before, they won't be able to."
"Okay. Follow me."
Raijin opened the door and waved to the company.

The company moved towards the stairs, but by changing the direction of Raijin. He opened into a smaller room.
"Don't we have to go to the bed rooms?" Miyo asked with a little confusing tone.
"Yeah, but like I said, I'm gonna let you in show the Usuba family's tragicomedy." he answered, then he pointed to a huge tapestry. The green-white-based, room-sized pieces were pictures of people, including years. There was something written on top of it in ancient Japanese. Mineta looked at it incomprehensibly, as he had never seen anything like it.
"It's an ancient family sign. Latin equivalent of "Non ducor, duco.", meaning "I am not led, I lead."." Raijin translated. "This is the main motto of the family and the main cause of rot. The dynasty itself exist since the 8th century and has been in the service of the Emperor since then. It has always been proven by great deeds, and therefore all those who have a Usuba family name have been exalted to the divine. For a long time it seemed that we would be invincible, but one day it would all be over. In the early 19th century, Usuba Kaneki, the family leader was believed that those who did not marry their own family members would be banished forever."
Miyo found the man's name. Until then, there were not many exiles, but after that they became more and more dense. Raijin continued the story.
"His first victim was his daughter, who married to the youngest man in the Watanabe family at that time. Then they came in a nice line. Even though the Emperor tried to negotiate with them and withdraw their rules, they fought back offendedly by not interfering with the private affairs of his most loyal men. It is worth noting that many of the most important persons serving in the imperial court at that time were Usuba."
"A typical case of incest families." Mineta whispered with a completely dark tone.
"What do you mean?"
"I learned about these dynasties. As time went on, more and more degenerate offspring were created. Imbecile is the best sign of this, but you associate excessive arrogance and pride with it, and the recipe for failure is complete."
"You're smart. This is where the desire for change came from."
Then he pointed of Usuba Sumi.
"Mom." Miyo mumbled and caressed the painting face. That's all that's left of her.
"Yeah. Your mother married Saimori Shinichi because the name Usuba was beginning to waver in terms of fame. Yoshirou wanted to banish her from the family with that momentum, but he noticed something."
"He left alone." Itou finished his father's sentence.
"Yeah. He wanted to save something. He'll forgive everyone and take them back if they're willing to come back. Those who were willing to respond..."
"Let me take a guess." Mineta interrupted. "They say the Usuba family deserves to be exiled."
"Short and concise. The only real returner is Arata Horikoshi, the father of this scumbag."
"Really?" Miyo asked.
"Yeah. At the time, Tsurugi was still a baby, but thanks to the brainwashing here, he thinks, that he's a full-blooded Usuba. I didn't want to come back either, but I'm willing to do anything for my son. I didn't want him to live in poverty."
"That's why you came back here."Miyo finished and caressed the man's arm. Mineta felt the man's pain. After all, despite his body type, he gives the impression of a great man."
I'm sorry about that."
"It doesn't matter. As soon as I find a better way, I'm out of this hellhole. Until then, I will help you."
"Thank you for that." They bowed.
"Now let's go to my room and study. Let's have lunch before."
The company headed to the dining room. Mineta decided to help him in the place of good deed somehow. He hoped that Kudou would be willing to participate in this.

The lunch was in a tense atmosphere and for a reason. Arata and Raijin were sitting opposite each other, and it was visible that they hated each other. Since the head of the family was here, Mineta couldn't hide at the table. When they finished, he picked up a large portion of food on a tray.
"Where are you taking them?" Arata asked angrily.
"For my child. He's gonna eat a little after his nap. Then we start training. While I help Miyo learn the basics of Spirit Sight."
"Fine. But you should know, she will be my wife. I fought her..."
"I'm not like you and you know that." Raijin noted the same tone, but Arata laughed.
"That's true. You were never aware of the social ladder. You didn't marry a Usuba woman, that's one thing. but you did with a sla..."
"You keep saying that racist thing and I'm gonna keep hitting you until you can't talk with that squeaky face of yours."
"Enough of that now!" Yoshirou cried out. "There's not gonna be a fight!"
"Only funeral." he said it there disdainfully, and then he and his son headed for their room. Miyo obediently, after a bowed and followed him. When they arrived, Mineta learned, that the food would not necessarily serve the child as a snack. Raijin placed a plate in front of him.
"Here's your lunch. Eat it in one of our rooms. This is essential for growth."
"Thanks. Never think you're a comedian, beside the gentle giant type." he laughed and began to eat. Itou went to bed, and Miyo decided to read him something. Mineta looked at the child. He listened to the story as if his mother were reading it. When he was finished, he closed his eyes. By then, he had finished eating and listened to Raijin teach Miyo to Spirit Sight. He didn't get much of it, but the main thing is that he can control her gift with her will. Finally, sitting down, he was slept. He only woke up when he woke up.
"You sleep very deep."
"That's for sure. I have at least 24 awaken hours behind me." he whispered.
"Anyway, I have a question. If I am not intruding."
"What is that?"
"How are you going to bathe?"
And then Miyo and Mineta's face turned completely red. They didn't even think about this situation.
"We'll just figure something out" she whispered.
"I hope so, because until now, only my gift has noticed what the force field has not. But, after a few days, your smell is another problem."
"In the worst case, use the old saying. What happens in the Usuba mansion, it will stays there." Mineta said in wise tone, and Raijin laughed softly. Fortunately, the bathroom door could be locked and there was a curtain for the tub. There were no embarrassing stories.

The night came when they went to bed. Mineta and miyo were forced to share, as this room was also lockable, but only one bed in each room.
"Anyway, I can't get something out my head." he whispered.
"What is that?" Miyo asked quietly and turned. Then she saw that her friend really thought deeply.
"I can understand how late your gifted woke up. But when I saw the tree at the Saimori estate, I felt very strong and strange power. Is it possible that your power has been sealed?"
"My family has never been capable of this." she answered and caressed his face. "Do you miss Kudou and his house?"
"Yeah. Here it may be beautiful and ornate, yet it is so cold. Especially since we learned about the Usuba family's disgusting attitude to themselves. And I thought we were running out of production cash, which is why we're so few." he shrugged his shoulder and continued. "Kudou is at least honest and decent, who was really created for your side. I can live with you two in good and bad. It was like finding my first real home."
"I see. I hope that we can get back there as soon as possible."
Then there was a long silence. Miyo hugged him.
"Thank you for keeping my soul."
"You don't have to. This is what are friends for." he whispered joyfully. Eventually, the dream overwhelmed them.

Four days passed, when Miyo learned the basics of Spirit Sight. She tried to travel with her mind to the afterlife a few times, but this day, she want to did something bigger. She shared this with Arata in the morning, after breakfast.
"I want to know the truth about my mother and my gift."
"I think it's a little dangerous. If there is a mistake in your calculation, you can come back to reality with your consciousness, but there is a risk that that memory will be damaged."
"I don't care. I want answers anyway. If you'll excuse me, I'd like to train."
At the end of her sentence, she bowed and went to the meditation room. When the door closed, Mineta looked at her from the hiding place. He slowly took her hand.
"I hope you succeed. Although, who am I kidding, you're a strong woman and you can do it easily"
"Thank you." she whispered and hugged him. He really was like a brother to her. Finally, she went into the circle and closed her eyes. She took her mind back to the past, straight into her mother's memories. Before her eyes, darkness took shape. It turned into a room that she recognized immediately. This is the living room of the Usuba mansion. The first person she recognized was her mother, Sumi. She also recognized Yoshirou, although he was a little younger here.
"I'm not gonna let that happen." He cried out, while look in her eyes. "I can't let the Usuba bloodline get diluted."
"Do we have a choice?" She asked and waved her hand. "Our family almost died out. Even the Emperor is considering demoting us."
"That's a lie! The Usuba will always be the Emperor's privilege."
"Not anymore. Face the facts. In the past, if you threw a stone among the imperial officers, you must have hit a Usuba. Now that's the rarest thing that can happen. And the idea of your evil ancestor, that those who don't marry within the family should be forever disowned..."
"It was invented by a wise man to keep the purity of our blood forever!" he shout, while gasping. "If you want to spit in our family's face, then go!"
"Fine. If you're so against to saving my family's reputation, I'll do it." she sighed and goes to the door, but stop halfway. "But you should know from me that we are so few because of this foolishness, that the Emperor is really going to demolish us. Getting married to a Saimori family would prevent that."
"How dare you..."
"But in the end, it's just you, and when you're so weak, you can't even stand up... You'll realize that blood purity isn't going to be worth anything."
She left with that sentence, and the room was gone. When it took shape again, she was already on the Saimori estate. Sumi was at the cherry tree the Saimori family cut down. But now it's in full splendor. In her arms, a chubby-faced baby slept.
"Miyo." she whispered, while looking at the baby. "You're the best thing in my life. Too bad I can't see you grow up. I want you to grow up happy and free. If your true strength is revealed, you will never have peace and eternal pain and suffering followed your path. That's why I'm seailng your power. I hope it will be like this forever."
Sumi laid her free hand on the trunk of the tree. All of a sudden, blue-hued lights began to fall into the tree. When it was over, she coughed. The adult Miyo began to cry. After a while, Sumi got up. She had blood on the edge of her kimono, just like her lips, but she smiled.
"I love you, my daughter."
The picture changed again, and now Sumi was lying in bed. Even a blind man could see, that there really wasn't much left of her life. Next to him, the little Miyo slept. Shinichi's voice broke the silence.
"What did the doctors say, how long does she have?" he asked outside the room.
"Days. Maybe weeks." A woman voice answered, when he sighed.
"That's why I didn't want to marry an Usuba. Incestuous, conceited, haughty gang. In reality, they die as young as flies in the winter."
"But, sir. It's about your wife."
"I only took it out of interest. I decided to marry Kanoko, months before the offer of the emperor. My only benefit was that my family's reputation and wealth increased significantly. Come to think of it... It's a good thing this piece of weak joke dies fast. At least I'll make the right decision with no negative consequences."
After a little silence, he continued.
"Stay with her. If she dies, do the funeral. No need for extravagance, it'll be good for the commoners."
"Yes, sir."
After that, the memory was faded. Miyo had enough and returned to reality with her mind.

Mineta quietly watched Miyo meditate. Deep down, he was worried, even though he had no reason to be. He noticed that she was crying. reflexively, he went to wipe away her tears, breaking his cover. Miyo then grabbed his wrists and opened her eyes.
"Thank you." she whispered gratefully.
"I bet what you saw was very upsetting."
"Yes, but I have to known the truth."
"If you want, you can tell me later."
She hugged him a little.
"Now go back to your hiding place. I'm still training."
"Fine." he nodded and goes back. When he hides, Arata opened the door.
"Miyo! I'd like to know how you're doing with your past research."
"I managed to find what I was looking for." she answered and stood up with a little bow. She was wearing the same kimono, as when Kudou brought him here. In fact, she was protesting against the Usubas.
"Glad to hear it. Would you like to tell me?"
"No. This is my personal memory."
"Do you mean by hiding from your future husband what connects us? Beautiful thing, I say."
"What?" she asked with shock. "You're not my husband."
"That was the condition of my duel with the Kudou. Believe me, you're much better off with me because you're safe and comfortable in here."
"I always love danna-sama!"
"How can you fall in love with someone who has no heart at all?"
"That's a lie!" Miyo blurted, but Arata shook his head.
"You're so naive. If that's true, where is he now? The door is open to repeat our duel, but he won't appeared at all. If you take my advice, don't wait for him. He's too stupid to appreciate you."
Mineta can't hold back the urge, to goes out and puch Arata so hard, until he had a head like a balloon. But he went further in the disgusting measure, because he grabbed Miyo's shoulder and manically looked into her eyes. He began to draw closer, but she resisted.
"You won't have a choice. I won the duel, and no one's gonna stop us from getting married."
But then a huge hand grabbed his wrist and squeezed him like a vice. That forced him to let go. Miyo stepped back and saw her assistant. It was Raijin, who pushed the him with his other hand. This why fall back three meters behind.
"How dare you, you damn gorilla?!"
"No one gets away with threatening an Usuba! Especially not you! My grandfather will hear about this, that's for sure!"
"Then he'll hear from me that you tried to rape her." Arata said with merciless tone. Arata stepped back with fear.
"He won't believe your pathetic words! I'm the best..."
"But that's not the case. It's in our family code, that no physical contact can happen until marriage. You know very well. And you will be punished cruelly for the latter. You know what it is."
He turned around disdainfully. All because he lost this fight.
"I'm sorry for what I did. But it doesn't change the fact that Miyo will soon be my wife. And the first thing I'm gonna do is kill you forever."
"Good luck with that. Now leave if you don't want to suffer any serious injuries."
Mineta sighed of relief. He was glad he didn't have to intervene. Raijin sensed this, because as soon as he closed the door, he called back.
"It must be hard to stop the intervention."
"That's for sure. This son of a b*tch deserves to be eaten alive by a lion. Even if I am against animal cruelty."
Miyo bowed before him.
"Thank you for helping me."
"It's unnecessary. But from now on, I'll be watching here. I don't trust this hypocrite. So you can stay in your hiding place." he said to Mineta.
"What about you son?"
"He's a little tired right now, so he's resting." he answered with a smile. Miyo sat back and continued her training.

At the same time, Kudou managed to keep the front against the attack. Although his entire squad was certain someone was in control of the grotesquiers. They normally attack every living thing blindly and don't care if they're permanently vaporized. But they are smart and when they feel the lose, they retreat. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but they were quite tired and exhausted. They didn't know how long they would keep this line of defense. Kudou wanted the whole thing to end because he wanted to get Miyo back. Kazushi came to him about noon with an official letter in his hand.
"The emperor's order had arrived."
He took the letter and read it. At the end of the this, he smiled for the first time. He called the team together to tell them about the current situation.
"Me and my 20 strongest men will escort the newly arrived exorcists to the broken grave tonight. Our scouts have indicated that thousands more grotesquiers will emerge there in a few days. If we succeeds, their supply lines will be cut off, and with a final offensive, we can take care of him forever."
Then the soldiers began to exult in a row and loudly, but at Kudou's admonition they were quiet.
"As long as I'm gone, Kazushi will lead the squad."
"Yes, sir!" they replied.
"Go back to your position!"
The crowd dispersed and all that remained was Godou. Kudou turned to him.
"You're coming with me."
It's an honor to be appointed."
"Forget the formalities."
"Thank you. Why are you choosing me?"
"Because you saved my life more than once. The fact is, your jokes piss me off, but I'd give my life in your hands, because that's what you're looking out for."
"That's what the friends for, right?" Godou asked. Kudou saw Mineta and Miyo in front of him for half a minute. He closed his eyes and sighed deeply. He really hoped that the battle would end soon and he could go back to the Usuba estate.

In the evening, the Emperor's prepared exorcists arrived. By then, Kudou, Godou and eighteen soldiers were waiting for them. After a quick handshake, they went to the grave where the grotesquiers would come up. No one knew it was a huge trap.
