Chapter 1

Could she really do this?

Mitsuki stood outside the entrance to UA high on exam day. She wanted to follow her Mother's footsteps, to be a great hero and she has attended this place. She didn't want to just be A hero, she wanted to be the kind of hero that villains fear, the kind that makes people feel safe...the kind that little girls in need feel like they can depend on...god knows that what she needed. She looked at her hand, but her name, her connections to that man held her back. People just assumed that because she was HIS daughter that she was a villain, that she was untrustworthy. She had the power to do this, and then some. No one can deny that both of her parents were extremely powerful but they had been on completely different sides. The bright life her mother had built for herself, her father has been the one to take that all away from her and Mitsuki was unwillingly and violently brought into this world.

Mitsuki sighed and let her hand drop to her side. This was the day they would prove them wrong. She would show the world that she rejects the life her Father has intended for her and she would follow in the footsteps of her Mother. She had to, it was after all because of her that her Mother lived the last years of her life in disgrace. A great hero birthing the child of an evil man...and to make matters worse...Mitsuki had inherited his quirk instead of hers, which was just salt to the wound. If Mitsuki wasn't here...then maybe her Mother would be. For that reason she needed to do this, she needed to become a great hero not only for herself but to also untarnish her Mother's legacy...

It was then that she spotted a green haired boy, he had a hand over his mouth like her was going to throw up at any moment. Nerves, she thought. She understood that, she felt them too not that she would allow herself to show them. A blonde haired boy approached from behind him, the two seemed to know each other from the way the green haired boy seemed to greet him, but the boy didn't appear to get the same friendly greeting from the blonde haired boy, the look on his face was one of fear as the blonde boy walked by him. People seemed to be looking at him and whispering about something, something about a sludge monster from what she could hear from people closer to her. No idea what that's about, she thought. The green haired boy let out a sigh of relief after his angry friend left. Mitsuki looked away, she needed to focus on herself and stop people watching, it had always been a bad habit of hers. She didn't really get out much, she hadn't ever hung around people her own age so this whole thing was pretty overwhelming.

Mitsuki had placed herself at the back of the orientation all, she didn't want to interact with people but the massive hall was packed. Guess they weren't joking when they said that everyone wanted to go to UA, she thought. With everyone there is lowered her chance of getting in but she was confident that her power would get her in, yes she had much room to grow but her ability and quirk had never been a concern for her...her concern was her heritage. Would they even let someone like her in once they know who her Father is? It might not be the best press for them. The school symbol appeared on the massive screen at the front of the hall, catching everyone's attention.

'What's up UA candidates? Thanks for tuning in with my your school DJ.' An blonde haired man stood in front of the screen and with open arms he welcomed everyone with a smile on his face. He must be a teacher here and a pro hero, Mitsuki thought. 'Come on a let me hear ya?' No one replied. Silence filled the hall. 'Keeping it mellow huh? That's fine I'll get straight to the main show. Let's talk about who this practical exam is gonna go down, okay? Are you reeaaddy?' He sang at the crowd. 'Like your application said you boys and girls will be out there conducting 2 mintue mock battles in a super hip urban setting. After I drop the mic here you will go to your specified areas.' Everyone looked down at the little sheet of paper in her hand. She was in battle center C.

'Okay, okay.' He continued. 'Let's check out your targets. There are 3 types of pro villains in every battle center. Your points will be passed on their level of difficulty, so you better choose wisely. Your goal in this battle is to use your quirk to raise your score by shredding these pro villains like an awespme guitar solo but check it. Make sure your keeping things heroic, attacking other UA candidates is a no no, ya dig?' It was then that a boy with blue hair and glasses stood up with his hand raised.

'Excuse me Sir but I have a question.'

'Hit me.' The DJ replied pointing at the boy. A spot light appeared and the boy held up the print out that everyone had been given when entering the room.

'On the print out you've listed 4 types of villain not 3. With all respect, if this is an error on official UA materials it is shameful. We are exemplary students, we expect the best from Japan's most notable school. A mistake such as this will not do.' Jeez, this guy is really going in on the very school he's trying to get in to Mitsuki thought. The he suddenly turned around an pointed at someone. Mitsuki recognized the bushy green hair as belonging to the boy she saw outside. 'Additionally you with the unkempt hair. You've been muttering this entire time, stop that. If you can't bother to take this seriously leave. You're distracting the rest of us.' A squeaky 'sorry' was heard in reply and laughter was heard from around the large hall.

'All right. All right.' The man at the front said, regaining everyone's attention. 'Examinee number 711, thanks for calling in with your request.' He said with a thumbs up. 'The 4th villain type is worth 0 points. That guy is just an obstacle we'll be throwing your way. There's one in every battle center. Thing of it like a hurdle you should try to avoid.' Mitsuki frowned, just one. If it was an obstacle designed to distract them, to get them to waste their stamina on things that won't get them anywhere then surely there would be loads of them. The fact there was only one made Mitsuki think that there was more to it and this 0 point villain was gonna be the most trouble. 'It's not that it can't be beaten but there's kinda no point.' The school where clearly trying to throw them off, trying to see how the react when the unexpected happened on the field. After all there were told exactly what the test was, they knew what to expect it wasn't gonna be like that in the real world. Beside, UA wouldn't be the hardest school to get into if they made there tests as simple and straight forward as this. 'I recommend my listeners ignore it and try to focus on the ones at the top of the charts.' The blue haired boy bowed lowly to him.

'Thank you very much. Please continue.' Then he sat back down and his spotlight vanished.

'That's all I got for you today. I'll sign off with a little present. A sample of our school moto. As general Napoleon Bullivard once laid down "a true hero is one that overcomes life's misfortunes." Now that's a tasty sell bite. You ready to go beyond? Let's hear a plus ultra!' Still nothing from the crowd. 'Good luck, hope you practiced hitting more than just books...'
