Month's have passed since me and S became friend's. It's been rough with her being about as dumb as a rock half the time but it's been okay. She introduced me to her "friend" DJ yesterday. I swear those two are like twins. Except he's really really cute.....

I shook my head not wanting to get caught up in my own emotions. Love is pointless and stupid. All it does is make killing harder. At least that's what I was taught in that prison of a home.

"Ash! I'm going to go get dinner!" shouted S even though she was three feet away from me.

I glared at her as she just starred at me with a clueless expression on her freckled face.

"OKAY YOU DON'T NEED TO YELL!!!!" I shouted loudly my accent flicking on as my anger rose.

She quickly ran out of the room as I just rolled my eyes and put up my book. "It's not like I'm scary or anything", I mumbled to myself.

As I sat on my bed, I heard loud clumsy footsteps come my direction. I had no doubt that it was DJ. He always runs like he's falling down a flight of stairs on a beach ball.

"Hey Ash what's up want to go watch a movie? I bet you do, come on let's go!" he shouted not waiting for my response. He grabbed my arm, and before I could speak I'd been dragged to the old worn down green couch.

I rolled my eyes at him my face slightly hotter then it was thirty second's ago.

He just smiled at me and turned on a movie. As he mindlessly babbled about the characters, I suddenly started to hear something. It sounded almost like metal claws dragging along a pipe.

The sound didn't go away and began to come closer and closer till finally I saw her. "Alurrie...." I spluttered out as I reached for my guns to only find they weren't there.

"Are you looking for these?" she asked with her lips forming a smirk. as she spoke my guns dangled between her claws.

I growled loudly at the mutant leopard who stood in front of me.

I felt a tug on my arm and looked back to see DJ holding a gun. He protectively stepped in front of me as Alurrie looked him over and laughed at his small form.

"YOU BETTER BACK OFF RIGHT NOW OR SO HELP ME YOU WILL NOT SEE TOMMORROW!" he shouted, he seemed to shake a bit seemingly fearing his own words.

Alurrie pulled out a gun of her own and shot a beam at me.

DJ reacted fast and jumped in front of me taking the hit himself. Blood poured form his left shoulder but he continued to smile that idiotic smile of his.

"No one hurts my Ashley"

I smirked as he said that suddenly filled with confidence.

Alurrie whistled and the rest of the mutants ranging from dogs, birds, and even fish surrounded us.

They all stood starring waiting for some one to make the first move.

So I made that first move. Jumping up in the air and flipping over them. I grabbed my guns and slammed Alurrie into the concrete floor as all of them attacked us at once.

I jumped over and put my shell to DJ as he put his back to me, we both watched each other's back as we took down mutant after mutant.

"Wow, Ash your really good with those pistols", shouted DJ as he shot another mutant down.

"You aren't too bad yourself red" I shouted shooting about fifteen more of them down.

As we finished them off I saw Alurrie get back up. She made a mad dash towards us. Before I could react I saw her collapse. Blood pouring out onto the floor as she ceased breathing. For once I shook at the sight of a death. Maybe because I didn't do it maybe because I'd known her like a sister I'd never know. I collapsed falling to my knees struck with fear.

"Ash Ashley ASHLEY!" I heard DJ shout.

It was all background noise to me. I was stuck in a daze just starring at the destruction I'd caused around me.

I suddenly didn't see it any more. DJ sat right in front of me gripping my shoulders till his knuckles were white.

"Ashley look at me don't look at them, just look at me and nothing else okay, just look at me" he whispered calmly.

I focused on him memorizing every detail of his face as I did.

"Ashley this wasn't your fault, they attacked us, you're the hero not the villain, you're my beautiful intelligent Ashley, not a monster like them".

I would have sarcastically remarked that I'm not a hero, but all I could do was hang onto those three words like a life line. 'You're my Ashley'

Without thinking I kissed him I just plain kissed him. As everything around us just seemed to fade away. I escaped and now I found something that not even I could have predicted.
