Captured!! (Then escaped)
Kid Flash POV
I woke up, trapped inside a steel cage. Jinx---that was her name from the Titans' hit list, at least (and that girl was gorgeous with her horseshoe-styled pink hair, ash skin, pink cat-eyes and---wait, what am I saying? Robin says superheroes should never, ever admire their opponents and you don't want to make your best friend angry, do you?)---anyways, she and her teammates were observing me from outside the cage.
I smiled easily. "Looks like you got me."
"That's right!" Billy Numerous shouted. "And when we're through with you, we're gonna... we're gonna..."
They started arguing, and I yawned and got myself some snacks. This was getting boring for someone whose brain moved as quickly as mine. That was when I made a tiny observation.
"Hey, if you're called the Hive Five, why are there six of you?"
The Hive Five---or Hive Six--- were lost for words. Eventually they gave up and went away to watch a wrestling match---all except for Jinx. Smart girl, and I longed to say so. But no, that would break every single rule Robin has ever set for us superheroes. I mean, not that I'm a rule follower or anything, but pissing off the Boy Wonder is a very, very bad idea, and I speak from experience.
"They don't have much of an attention span, do they?" I mused. These people did not deserve a cool girl like Jinx as their partner.
Jinx stopped massaging her head and groaned. "You have no idea---stop that! Who do you work with?"
The Flash, I nearly replied, but stopped. After all, I only used to work with Uncle Barry. I now worked alone---mostly. And that's what I told her.
"You have a nice place," I said appreciatively. "Very... secret lair."
"Quit changing the subject!" Jinx said angrily.
I leaned forward, grabbing the bars. "Does it bother you though, that the guys never listen to you?"
She walked forward suspiciously, tilting her head this way and that. "Why are you so interested in me?"
Because you're amazing. Because you're better. Because you're good at heart, I know it. All these reasons buzzed around inside my head, but I chose not to speak them aloud.
"There's something about you that's different," I said, choosing my words carefully. "I think you can do better." Then, I held up the sandwich, and still gazing into her cute pink cat eyes, I asked, "Could I have some mustard? This looks a little dry."
Jinx's eyes narrowed into glowing pink slits and she hexed the sandwich out of my hands, the ingredients going everywhere. "Have your fun," she hissed. "In a minute you'd wish you were never born."
Uh oh. When you're scared, don't act like it, a little voice in my head advised.
"Oh, right," I said casually, an escape plan forming in my mind. "You wanna see what makes me tick."
"You're an idiot," she said. "I'm turning you over to the Brotherhood of Evil." With that, she turned towards the big screen and started pressing buttons. But no way could she have a way to contact them.
"You're joking, right?"
When a huge red symbol I recognised as the emblem of the Brotherhood appeared on the screen, I realised with a sinking heart that Jinx really had a way to contact the Brotherhood of Evil. Oh, super.
"Jinx," I warned. "You don't wanna get mixed up with them."
She turned and smiled. "Watch me."
"You're making a big mistake," I tried.
Madame Rouge appeared on the screen. "Who are-"
I didn't stay to hear the rest of her sentence. With a flash, I zoomed out of the relatively wide apart bars and out of the room.
---------------
After messing with the Hive Five's training centre, I rushed into their living room, creating chaos. Jinx sent the others after me, but they would never catch me.
First, I headed to the power plant. Kid Wykkyd actually accidentally helped me tear the place apart. Then I ran inside the lab, where Gizmo was working on... something. It sounded like a threat, but I'll have to worry about that later. I trashed most of the machines and trapped Gizmo in a makeshift metal cage. I returned the stolen cars in the garage, reprogrammed the videos, and headed towards a random corridor. There was a door there and I went through, not nearly expecting to find Jinx's room.
A sketchbook was on the table. My curiosity was aroused and I leafed through it. There was a rather large collection of unicorn drawings, but I barely had time to finish admiring them before Jinx came in.
"I never took you for the unicorn type," I said, looking up.
"Argh!" She blasted me with a jinx, but I was way too fast for her, and she ended up destroying her own room instead.
I kept running until I reached a dead end. Oh, no, I thought inwardly as I turned back to see Gizmo, Mammoth and Kid Wykkyd standing in my way. Luckily, I had one last trick left up my sleeve.
Vibrating my molecules straight through the wall, I immediately ran away from their tower---not far, though. I had to keep an eye on them.
Soon, Jinx confidently strutted through the doors and walked to Iveshire Lane.
"What do I have to do, rob a bank?" she wondered out loud.
Nope. No bank robberies today under my watch.
"You'd do that for me? I'm touched," I quipped.
"You're not very smart, are you?" Jinx sighed.
"There's no need to be rude, but it's not like I'm afraid of you."
"Oh, I'm not the girl you should be afraid of." Jinx's body suddenly morphed into... Madame Rouge! "I am," the infamous assassin growled.
