So I did this thing, I'm not sure if I regret it. I let two friends choose a few cards from Apple's to Apple's and well, this is the crazier out of the two.
Raito_Ryuzaki I am looking directly at you, I'm happy you came over for a visit and this is my present to you since I didn't have anything else, though this took a lot of thought and effort to make! <3 I definitely didn't type most of this last minute. Time bloody flies I tell yah, might be revised a little later on.
The things I had to include are at the end because it would give away a few things.
Try, as it may seem, a world so frivolous, many people decide to sit, practically ushering such words of an unimaginable sense of boredom. Some chosen had things considered powers, they weren't anything astronomically cool, more so things like so called magicians with their tricks of simple illusions. These powers, even then was modern life simple and boring to many. Sitting, watching flashing pictures of recorded and staged scenes. Sitting, listening to lectures of someone more knowledgeable. Sitting, doing everyday things like talking to cranky customers or wasting away life doing things that take no part of the brain to think upon a repeated process, selling away hours of a precious unrefundable and limited life for a mere few articles of change per the hour. Many people, most in groups, tried to deny the living ways that the grey society has set up. Pirates, though not necessarily thieving, which hardly would any not, took the name for its abundance of limitless freedom. They scavenged, stole, lived for one word, freedom. Society no longer bound them unless wrapped around the neck and pulled under bars, to no surprise these groups, were illegal. Afterall, they aren't making them any money.
Luffy, a wild and seemingly energetic teenager, was one of these titled pirates. He was scrawny, very kidlike, and surprisingly a captain of a slowly growing infamous crew.
Today, and among the next few, he will be joined by another captain, one a bit calmer, somewhat conflicting personality wise. Law, the captain's name, joined Luffy for a one week trip. Between the two this trip would be considered many different things; vacation, road trip, hell.
"Will we be taking your super awesome super car!?" Luffy practically bounced off the walls, jumped up and down, side to side, unable to stay still with excitement. His question repeated constantly, each never failing to be full of energy and curiosity. His brown eyes even sparkled with a childish sense of wonder.
Law, the recipient of this constant and seemingly endless pestering, had no other choice but to tolerate the other. Neither one of their crew mates were there to distract the energetic one. Law had a pretty rambunctious crew on occasion but they shut their traps within moments of an annoyed facial expression from their captain. Luffy and his crew were quite opposite, some were loud almost all of the time and they had to shut their strawhat wearing captain up themselves.
Heart pirate captain, Law, lead himself out of his hand built underground house, almost professionally built if any onlooker had to guess. His boots clicked onto the wooden floor and out to a concrete path that sloped upwards slightly and into a metal door. With Luffy close behind, Law uncomfortably opened the door that took a lot of effort to do because of the weight to effectively camouflage it from the outside of this place, sworn to absolute secrecy among just a few others, this was the typical lifestyle for these pirates. Their rules were for the most part, pay for nothing and live as you please. Trading with others was okay, seeing as it is less beneficial to government ways. Most cower in fear, or maybe just being smarter then most, they hide under ground. Others traveled constantly, never staying in one place but many still had a homebase, a perminant safe haven.
"So cool!" Luffy gleamed with amazement as the metal hatch opened, he has seen it prior but obviously that did not dull the experience any less.
"Straw hat-ya, get in." Law pointed behind him with his thumb, checking outside just in case the coast was not clear.
Luffy's reaction was simple joys of laughter and woohoos, running to Law's nice and sleek yellow car. He plopped himself into the passenger's seat, all nice and buckled up, having listened to Law's protocols the day before about the rules in the car.
"What is that..?" Law seemed to pale after getting inside his car only moments later.
"I drew you on the window. Is it that bad? It has the same tired eyes, see?" Luffy somehow, had a perminant marker with him, drawing over the windows with apparently some demonic representation that only faintly resembles law. "Oh and it has your hat." Luffy specifically pointed to the part with something like Law's special fluffy spotted hat.
"Gah! I said don't-touch-anything! How-" the car horn honked in response to Law's head hitting it, sighing out of utter frustration.
"I can get it off, party pooper." Luffy's finger whisked over the permanent marker, surprisingly not smearing it, instead it leaves a nice clean line in its path. Luffy then became histerical with laughter at Law's astounded face that slowly went into hiding against the cars steering wheel again, car horn honking ever so gracefully to fully represent his struggles. "And if I do it again-" Permanently, from that moment forward, there will forever be a seemingly cut out line in the car's window. Luffy's power, he can simply erase things, he has to physically touch it but nonetheless it is an eraser, one for more things then just pencil lead. Even an eraser for part of Law's car window, even for that.
After many trials and obstacles, the two made there way on the road for many miles, no blabbering nonesense from Luffy as he pouted, maybe some acute simple whines. Law staid focused on the road, a little aggravated from other drivers, making him forget intirely about the loud noise of wind coming from the hole in the passenger's window.
"I'm hungry..." the first words the strawhat boy spoke in an hour surprised surely no one that knew him with his large bottomless pit, shortly then followed by a loud stomach growl.
The driver sighed and soon pulled into a public park, where Luffy would no longer be hungry as they had already planned in advance with a picnic basket full of food. This area was full of children screaming for no apparent reason but as they pleased in their playground area, a place that can only rival's Luffy's own loud self.
The picnic was eaten very quickly, by Luffy. Law glared to protect his share of which mainly consisted of rice. This not just because the Heart Captain thoroly enjoyed the specific grain but because his crew specialises in growing rice, specifically underground, as their main trade item besides medical care. The captains and crews didn't spend or earn money so they each create their own system of services or products to trade. The Strawhat pirates, Luffy's crew, specialised mostly in fish trading along with mix media trading and services, which is as it sounds, trading different assorts of items.
As Law ate, he seemingly lost the childlike other, and looking at the empty containers of food, he wondered if the boy's erasing powers did it and not an unimaginable appitite. First the container that contained small pieces of grilled chicken breasts, then the container with chunks of baked potatoes that Luffy insisted on calling them naked potatoes.
Luffy was entirely too easy to find once again from his loud voice.
"Traffy!" Luffy ran, shouting a weird nickname based off of the other's last name of Trafalgar, surprising Law slightly with it. "Look, look! Some kids didn't want these beans but, they're so good!" Luffy held a bag of green jelly beans, and a mouthful as well. He was not much for sharing yet, when Law waved him off in annoyance, that changed. "Take one, take one! You gotta try it!" He brutally forced past Law's defense, effectively making the jelly bean go in the dull one's mouth.
"Kah!" This was not the sound of Law choking physically, but more so mentally at the taste as his mouth staid open wide at the appalled flavor that was quickly spit out on the grass and gravel covered ground below. "The hell was that?! You trying to kill me!"
"Pffthahahaha!" Luffy was enjoying the unexpected discust and suffering from the other and his heavy breathing. "More for me!"
"What was that?" Law asked with a glare, not taking anything else for an answer.
"Like I said, they're jelly beans and I think they said it was juicy pear."
"Juicy pear, my ass." Denial, Law found the flavor aweful, so much even to say he abhorred it. A nasty flavor he could not believe could be appealing to any human being, even with differing tastes. "We wasted enough time in this blasted park as is, let's get back in the car. I don't want to hear anything from Eust-ass-ya for being late for the meeting." The less confrontation from Eustass Kid, the better. Law and him clash constantly on site, getting the nice sports car on a trade was troubling enough.
Kid was the captain of the Kid pirates, obviously named, which was the leading crew in all mechanical trades, it was a large business and task for the size of crew he had. Kid was also a hot headed individual, flaming red hair to match the ego, he clashed with pretty much anyone. Fights and thrown wrenches, quite normal around his territory. A blond man rushing to calm and talk sense into the red head, called by Killer, also normal. A man such as that, he will be at the destination of Law and Luffy's little trip.
Back on the road, Luffy babbled on and on, Law staid focused with a long road in front of him. The trip was nearing closer to the destination. Two hours left, or any other nonesense that Law would say to shut Luffy about his impatient wiggling and wavering. The destination is an underground community of pirates, a central area of a few loyals, otherwise they would have been busted instantly if just anyone could go there. This community was the bazaar for all pirate trading goods, half of them were liable to be shady and the other half know better. Many crews stay to make deals on the regular though just as many return on random days to sell. These sells are not measly by any means, this is the largest known soley pirate based trading area, ones with the most technical deals, the New World. Law and Luffy's place in this whole ordeal is to meet with a few other captains to establish their own territory in this trading district. They must be approved by at least one of four rulers of this territory. Luffy already has connections with one, red haired Shanks, he's sure to establish as trustworthy but the boys goal to over throw all four may break those chances. Law had no connections to any of the four but, he hopes that with Luffy's assistance, he can overthrow one of them. Overthrowing, typically means monopolizing them, raining over the trading industry for pirates. A missing throne sits above all four of the rulers, there will be sat the king. The goal, work underneath a ruler, to overthrow them in the end and claim the throne.
One hour left, Luffy became even more impatient, saying he is hungry and the what not.
"You just ate two hours ago!" Law probably has had enough at this point, between the practically whiney child in the passenger's seat and the drivers on the road that where just plain awful, he could only take so much. This whole nonesense was out of his normal comfort zone, not used to these kind of things on this level.
Hearing the annoyed statement, Luffy went to doodling on the car window again with the permanent marker, drawing out his frustrations of a demonic and angry Law.
"Is that power useful in any way?" Law grumpily sighed, giving in to the marker on the car window.
"Not really but, this one time, I got caught by the police and erased the handcuffs around my wrists! Shishishi"
The power was useful, only very little of the time. He was basically an infinite eraser, but with how hard he wrote on paper, there was no way of completely erasing his own writing or drawing. From the occasional now and again situations, his power came in handy if one of his friends told him to use it, it takes brains to use an almost worthless power after all.
Law drove, Luffy drew. In an instant neither expected, they were both whisked away, pushed to the side, and off a cliff. The crash was unexpected, Law's eyes were everywhere yet, not able to see it coming. This was dangerous, precarious and wavering in extremity. Both let out gasps of surprise while the car loudly crunched and tumbled, seemingly sending them in many directions inside the vehicle. This jarring experience lasted but only a few seconds, long enough for damage to be dealt.
After the commotion was over, Law looked over to the passenger's seat, air bag deployed and all. He could see Luffy, yet the younger boy seemed to be in a worse condition.
Luffy's arms shook to undo the seatbealt, it seemed too much of a struggle though, as he very smartly erased a line through the belt to set himself free. His teeth grit with abvious pain and struggle, blood slowly dripping and spreading through his already blood soaked red shirt. During the tumble, his head banged against the window, getting glass shards in his scalp and shoulder.
Law, with his medical skills, he knew the other's situation could be bad. He quickly unbuckled the annoying seat belt, and hand reaching for the door handle. The car landed upright, luckily, though the handle was busted and therefore could not function properly. Reaching over Luffy, Law managed to open the passenger's door, at least one thing was going in their favor.
Worryingly, Luffy fell out with a crunch from the fallen dead leaves below, not good but also convenient for Law to climb out of the car. Once out, Law dragged Luffy onto his lap to check injuries and the condition seeing as he was not responding correctly. The boy's eyes were dialated and his words jumbled, with a condition like this, it was high risk to not let him sleep.
"Trabbbuh"
"Luffy-ya, this is critical, I don't have time right now. Where is your phone?" Law ignored the babbling, to try to get Luffy's phone considering Law's phone was in the car. Luffy seemed to be not helpful at the moment though, as Law rummaged through the other's pockets, managing to find the device and opening it with ease. Normally Law would dial his crew, take care of it himself, but this time, they were hours away. No money in his pocket yet, he called for an ambulance without hesitation.
"Just stay awake." Law looked down at him who staid awake in a daze. Law was curious though to who caused them to crash. Up further towards the road, a man stood. Dark hair, and a long white coat.
"Vergo!" He knew this man from way back, not necessarily in good terms either. This accident was not on accident, without a doubt it was an attempted murder.
Vergo simply turned away, walking out of the scene. Law hesitated to go after the man, until remembering Luffy was on his lap. They set an alliance between the two, there was no abandoning the other for dead. Law gave up and did not chase after Vergo, for another day.
After the ambulance came, and back at the hospital, Law was asked a question.
"Who are you to the patient?"
Law answered honestly, not bothering to fake being related to him, an acquaintance.
"Can you get hold of any relative of his?"
Law answered yes. He had Luffy's phone, he assumed Luffy would have at least one relatives phone number on it. The only contact that seemed promising was one titled 'Gramps.' Law hesitated, not necessarily interested in talking to someone related to Luffy. Notheless, he dialed the number.
"He-"
"WHAT DO YOU WANT BOY?! HAS MY GRANDSON FINALLY UNDERSTOOD THE LIFE OF A TRUE SERVICEMAN!"
Law was a little shocked by the loud and immediate interrupting voice on the other line.
"I am assuming you are Luffy-ya's grandfather." Even if the facts were obvious, Law still needed a confirmation on the matter.
"And here I thought my dear grandson would tell me he loves me, what a pain. What trouble has he gotten into this time?"
The situation appeared to be normal to Luffy's grandfather. Law notified him about the situation, and he was on the way, just about an hour drives away. Law had nothing to do while waiting in the lobby so he walked outside to call upon a person that he dreads doing so, his car was totalled that only meant one thing.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT!?" Kid, it's no wonder anyone could dread calling this hot head of a human. This marks the second person Law had called that day that apparently loves to shout.
"Yes, Eustass-ya, I'd like one of your finest batches of cocaine." Law grins a smirk from his end, anything to mess around.
"Yah yah yah Trafalgar, how funny but I'm not your damn drug dealer alright. You're too much of a wuss to do it anyways. You calling because you're going to be late aren't yah? Been fooling around with your little boy toy haven't you?"
"Got stuck at the hospital an hour away, seems like the car doesn't take cliffs too well." Law's words were not too appealing to Kid.
"What the...? THE HELL TRAFALGAR?! I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE TRADED YOU THAT CAR. GET YOUR TAIL OVER HERE SO I CAN BEAT YOU TO A PULP!"
"After you're done throwing a tantrum like a spoiled brat, I'll need a new one when we meet. Oh, and tell the others I'll be there tomorrow." After that Law immediatly hung up with what seems a grin of sadistic origins, but soon changing to a sigh of relief after the short and tiring conversation.
"Excuse me, sir, are you Traffy?" A girl who seemed to work at the hospital soon questioned Law, he never seems to get a break.
"I guess." He seemed to recall that had been Luffy's weird nickname.
"The patient had been asking for you, he just woke up." She seemed to be a little nervous, Luffy was probably being a pain.
"Fine, I'll go." Law gave a sign he was going to see Luffy, along with another sigh for the inevitable doom to behold him.
"Traffy." Luffy whined. "Why'd you leave me?"
"I have other matters to attend to."
"But- wait..." Luffy seemed to be saying something until he cut himself off with a look that said he sensed something.
"What is it now?" Law asked but Luffy turned serious in an instant, grabbing Law by the collar.
"Did you call gramps?"
"Yes, I needed a family member to call." Law responded honestly, not quite understanding the situation at hand.
"You couldn't have called Zoro?!"
"Last I checked Moss-ya wasn't your relative."
"I-we gotta go quick, before he comes!" Luffy grabbed his straw hat from the side table where it was put for safe keeping and attempted to run away, even with an IV drip still in his arm.
"LUFFY!"
It already seemed too late for Luffy's escape, seeing as who yelled his name through the halls was none other then his grandfather. Luffy's other approach was to run through the window, likely not even having time to erase a way out but was soon stopped in his tracks by the room's door being busted down.
"I heard you were in a coma, seems you woke up in time to see your grandfather. My fist of love will sadly have to wait, they won't be happy if I put you in another one." Grandfather, Luffy's was a bit harsh but seemingly a little jolly too.
Both of the captain's froze in sight, even at this point Law was thinking of jumping out the window as well.
"What? Neither of you have any words? You two look as if you've seen a monster. Hahahahahaha. And might you be the lad who saved this worthless piece of trash of a grandson?"
Law did not say anything as a response, too shocked by any means by the man's seemingly large personality, overbearing by any means necessary. He simply nodded a yes in response.
"Great! What a nice one you are." Gramps patted Law on the back, seemingly with a force of a punch. "You don't get any reward though, so don't expect one yah hear? Oh Luffy boy, I take it you'll wanna stay at my place for a night? After all, I did pay for your hospital bill, damn pirate."
"B-but Gramps, they havn't released me, they do that right?" Luffy wasn't too well known about hospitals, just what was from television, he had a doctor friend named Chopper to handle anything and all medical. Hospitals mean a big bill and that is not in the life of a pirate.
"What? I just signed your release. They wanted to keep you longer but to heck with that. Oh, he can come too if you want."
Luffy was not going to stay at his grandfather's without Law, so in the end, he got dragged along as well.
"You a pirate too?" Gramps asked Law once they arrived at the house.
"Yes, a captain."
"Figured as much. The name is Monkey D. Garp. I'm probably your enemy, could turn your dispicable butt in jail along with his. I won't this time though. I won't ask what you two are doing way out here, you two seem to have been through a lot today. Don't think I didn't see your bruises and bandages too."
Law did not know quite how to respond to Garp, he came out and said the truth along with relising the trouble he and Luffy went through that day.
"Thank you for letting me stay." That was all he could mutter, a simple thank you that did not happen much coming from Trafalgar Law, a rare occasion that rarely happened in a non-sarcastic sense.
"Yeah yeah yeah. Just go to sleep already. You can share Luffy's bed, don't think he'll mind too much, after all he's already asleep. Hahaha. Night kid." Garp left with a wave to sleep in his sleeping quarters.
From what Law recovered from his damaged car, he changed into a clean pair of clothes. Normally, he would go without the shirt but seeing as his bedding would be with Luffy, he kept it on. He felt awkward going to sleep next to him, they have known each other for a little while but the feeling was still there. Law pulled the red covers up to lay under, only then realising then that this must of been Luffy's actual room from all of the nonesense decor of a badly drawn straw hat wearing Jolly Roger. Once laying down, Law also noticed the close proximity of him and Luffy. It was weird, a little uncormfatable, until Luffy woke up and gave him a hug of sorts.
"Hey, Traffy." Luffy asked while smiling much like a child and having his answer being just a hum of a yes. "Thanks for saving me today, I owe yah."
"Just get some more rest." Law could not resist himself from ruffling the other captain's hair.
"Hey, do you have powers too? I never asked."
"Yeah, it's stupid though. Kind of like magicians that hide and reappear things in a hat."
"That sounds cool to me, show me, show me." Luffy begged and begged, not with his normal complete energy but more of a calm and tired one.
"Later."
"Fine, but I want something for waiting."
Law was going to come back with Luffy's statement of owing from earlier but he seemed to be too tired to argue.
Luffy leaned closer, making Law his first kiss. Connecting the empty space between the two, and showing what can barely be said.
Law could not deny, the feeling felt just right, as he slightly gave Luffy a kiss back. For the first time Law has experienced a new emotion, one of a romantic love.
For the rest of the night Luffy slept against Law's bare chest to keep warm, after having erased a line through the front much like an open button up with the ability to reclose it. Law did not have the energy to be upset, simply settling with a ruined shirt.
The next morning, after being promptly kicked out of Garp's house with a few threats and a key to Luffy's old red, car, they were back on the road for an hour.
"Traffy, I had this weird dream that you had freckles like Ace did. You should get some, they looked nice."
"That's not how it works but I'll consider it." Something to make Luffy close his mouth.
"Oh and Zoro and Sanji were in it too. They had their whip and was going on a honeymoon."
Law made a strange face towards the whip part but allowed Luffy to continue with his weird dream. Maybe Luff was not as innocent as he first appears.
"And and Zoro was really manly. So manly every shirt turned him away because he was too manly too cover it up. There was also Sabo who shouted revolutionary in the background the whole time. Oh you also had a bunny tail and every time you walked glitter would appear."
Luffy blabbered on and on about his almost never ending dream until they reached there destination, and surprisingly Law learned that Luffy's dreams actually make less sense then Luffy himself which is honestly a surprise. The entrance to the place was secluded, which was to be expected. Located in a heavily dense forest of trees and down below a concealed entrance, after having to go through many checks to identify they were who they said they were. Immediately when parking, they were met with Kid.
"So here's Trafalgar. Too busy to show up yesterday because he was out fun destroying the nice car I regretfully traded him. You know showing up a day late doesn't leave a good rep with the higher ups."
"And here's Eustass-ya. The pirate that's likely a fake seeing as he trades nice cars. Won't admit how he gets them." Law, responded back immediatly, ready to rile up the man in seconds.
Out of nowhere, Kid was punched hard in the gut by Luffy.
"I don't know who he is but he's in our way, let's go. I have to be king of the pirates." Luffy already ran off to who only knows where with Law soon in pursuite, finding out that he likes the straw hat wearing kid even more after that action. To the trading era they go, and to the goal of monopolizing them all, set go.
