Chapter 9: Body Shopping
“I thought I asked you to bring (Y/n) out here…” Law growled noticing his crew stepped upon the outside platform of the submarine with their hands barren with only scars to be seen.
“She… She’s sleeping,” Shachi awkwardly pointed out afraid that his Captain will gut him for not fulfilling his orders
“She’s been sleeping an awful lot lately,” Law hummed, resting up against a wall with a hand to hold his chin. Penguin and Shachi gave each other mutual glances as they did not expect such a calm and collected response. “I suppose her time limit is about to expire, it only makes sense.”
“Time limit?” Penguin and Shachi tilted their heads in confusion towards their Captain.
Bepo perked up from what was once a heavy slumber. Just the mention of your name got the polar bear exploding with joy. “That means (Y/n) is about to die!” Bepo shouts out expecting praise.
“D-Die!?” Shachi coughed.
“Why are you so happy about that? We actually like a woman on the crew!” Penguin retaliates.
“Calm yourselves,” Law glared at his crew, a vein popping out of his forehead. No doubt he were stressed. “T’is true that (Y/n)-ya is close to dying. It’s all cause her heart is worn out no thanks to a surgery the World Gov conducted before I intervened. It only means I need to replace her heart with another’s temporarily until I can figure out how to reverse the effects of the surgery,” how to get said heart will prove to be a problem. It sounds like it’s about time to dock on an island once again, maybe even attack another ship and steal one.
“When do you think you’ll be able to reverse said surgery?” Shachi hummed.
“Not for a few months,” Law regrets to admit. “I have to replace her heart every month. Every time I replace the heart I’ll take a look into the changes done to (Y/n)’s body and change things as needed.”
“Sounds like trial and error…” Penguin points out.
“It is,” Law glared at the man once again. “Follow the log pose… We’re going to land.”
“Don’t you worry that you could accidentally kill her?” Shachi points out a fact of his own.
“I worry about her mental and physical health everyday…” Law’s mind no doubtedly clouded to the variety of problems you were developing by the day besides those that have been lingering for a long while now such as your heart condition not to forget your next to useless pair of legs.
Those legs… There’s no saving them. Law has looked you over more times than he can count and the muscles in your legs were nonexistent which was peculiar more than anything the Surgeon has seen over his many years. Law has first hand seen crash and burn victims bounce back faster than you have. Even one component of that surgery the Government conducted on you raised your heart and blood rate to such an exponential rate to decrease recovery time when injuries were taken on. Yet… Your legs weren’t recovering any mass. How will he break the news to you?
At that moment, Shachi and Penguin knew they lost their Captain to the dark reaches of his own mind.
-----
Luckily all three of the white and red steel needles on the log pose directed towards perfectly safe islands. Not one of the needles shook or twitched within their glass bulbs. Was it fate? In Law’s perfectly calculated mind, it were all perfectly coincidental for the problem at hand. You awoke in time to join in on the island shopping quest.
“Are you sure I can come along?” You asked timidly. Your palms began to grow all clammy before you rubbed them off upon your shirt.
“Why wouldn’t you be able to Kessho?” Law casually asked, slipping his leopard print hat atop his head of black before fixing it out for maximum comfort.
“I can’t walk,” you sighed. “Somebody’ll have to carry me the entire time…”
“Nobody’s carrying you,” Law claimed. “I’ve thought around that factor and then some,” upon finishing said claim, Law held out his right arm with his hand held in a distinctively familiar manner. An orb of electric blue formed in the pit of his hand. “Room,” he spoke, the orb poofed out of existence with the air all so suddenly turning thin and a feeling of electricity crawled beneath your skin.
“Whoa…” You awed. “I’ve only heard of your devil fruit but I’ve never seen you actually use it.”
“I’ll be using it on you today,” Law hummed.
“What-” Law flicked his index and middle fingers upwards, you began to float from your seat as if the laws of physics and gravity don’t apply. “I’m… I’m flying!!!” You cheered only to flip backwards within the air to float upside down. Your center or balance of gravity was all out of whack, this’ll take a bit to get used to.
“You’re under my control, but… Yeah, this will be your mode of transport for today,” Law manually flipped you back upright before taking hold of your wrist and stepped out of the room where your body seamlessly followed.
“Thank you so much Law,” you took hold of his wrist as well with your free arm. Pulling yourself to him where you hugged his neck while the rest of you floated above him. Law’s breath hitched. “You’re really going out of your way for me today… I can’t ask for anything better.”
“Don’t mention it Kessho,” Law eased up, allowing this hug to continue. You nuzzled your cheek up against the side to the bill of his hat.
“That nickname… Where’d it come from? You seem to call me by that name quite often.”
“Maybe you should brush up on your japanese sweetheart,” the Surgeon snickered pulling you with him as he strode on into the streets of the new island bustling with business. As you loosely clung to him, you grew irritated as Law had to nerve to keep his mysterious bravado even towards you when you’ve seen nearly every side he had to offer thus far. What does Kessho mean? It was a pet name for sure. Another thing for sure was that your Japanese vocab were non-existent.
“Law?”
“Yes Kessho?” Law glanced up at you with his golden eyes only.
“What are we shopping for? That’s one thing that popped into my head just now… I mean we’re passing up all of the little shops and stores,” That’s one realization you’ve came to terms with. What exactly was Law shopping for if he passed up every little stand of fresh fruits and vegetables, the clothing inlets, even the shady guys offering up weapons at a high price on wooden tables. Maybe this trip was for medical supplies? That’s a possibility right? No stands seemed to offer up gloves, syringes, blood, chemicals, or medicines of any sorts.
“This will sound weird,” Law warned you ahead of time. “But we’re shopping for body parts.”
“Body parts?” Your eyes went large.
“For you,” Law rolled his eyes. “You’re in need of a heart and a new pair of legs-”
“What!?” You cried. “Legs? Why new legs!?”
“There’s no circulation in your legs, at this point your legs are useless weights. Either you get around with my assistance for the rest of your life, or get a new maybe even better pair of legs than what you had beforehand,” way to be blunt about everything. You frowned, Law was right… If he figured out the reasoning behind your legs falling limp, then… Then it’s time to look into a better bottom half.
“Fine… I’m on board,” you sighed.
“That didn’t take much persuasion,” Law cracked a laugh.
“So… How do we go leg shopping?” Your features scrunched up with complete and utter confusion. “I don’t think there’s such thing as a leg store…”
“There isn’t,” Law groaned. “Keep your eyes open for any fairly shaped women. Find a pair of legs you like and/or are similar to your own Kessho, we’ll offer a trade,” please tell me that everything he just said didn’t sound crazy in the slightest? Sarcasm on point. Are we seriously going to take another woman’s legs? And what in the hell are we trading them for!?
“Fine… Ya… Will do…” You were too confused to even come up with a legit reply. Better if it stayed that way.
If you all want a chapter on how they decide on a pair of legs I can do that. But if I don't get much feedback then I'm not really going to bother with it.
Guess it really depends on if you want a filler chapter or not.
