Chapter 13: More & More
It's been a good week, your training with the Straw Hat Crew hasn't made much if any progress. Wherever you walked, you left a trail of crystals in the shape of your boot. Whatever you touch, became encased in crystals as well. You made the executive decision to sleep outside upon the deck of the Sunny in order to keep the destruction of the crew's belongings to a bare minimum. Law allowed such a decision and didn't question it, he were letting you be as free as possible when it came to these types of things. However, Law never gave you a choice on the training of your devil fruit, the powers were out of control and more times than none, you fought him on the decision. You were just running away from your feelings, letting them fester, allowing the problem to grow and grow until they get out of hand.
You need to put your past behind you, that's what Law wants from you at least. Yes, because of the Straw Hats, the World Government force & conducted experiments on one of their top secret agents in hopes of a brighter future where a soldier can apprehend the crew single-handedly. Because you were forced into such a situation, you lost your job, were forced to consume a devil fruit thus stealing your ability to swim, and ran away into a life of hiding where you must have 24 hour access to a doctor in case your weak heart stops beating. That Doctor eventually became your Captain, and then a trusted boyfriend and here you were, traveling the world with Trafalgar Law and the crew that ruined your life at the cost of your safety. It's a lot to put behind yourself, Law understands, but you can't run away from the problem forever. That problem being a grudge that towards anyone is hard to let down.
Trafalgar Law had a trick up his sleeve, even though he wasn't a psychologist, it were a route he were willing to tread. Being you are blaming your lack of practice with your devil fruit for its sudden malfunctioning when in reality it is the grudge you hold against the crew that is resulting in a wild behavior behind the powers.
"Your request is finished," Franky sang as he held up a nicely decorated box of metallic silver wrapping. "Hope they're fine... I'm not an expert when it comes to women's clothing."
"It should be fine for what their purpose is..." Law took the box from the cyborg inventor, lifting the flap lid to allow his golden eyes to peer within. Even the contents within were chrome, not a hint of color to be seen.
"I must admit, this was an odd request," Franky kept up the conversation. "There's no benefit to the wrist brace and boots I made, if anything they'll just weigh the girl down."
"I'm aware," Law hummed, closing the box. "They'll fool (Y/n) into thinking they'll help conceal her powers."
"But they won't," Franky cocked his brow. "That's a bit dirty don't ya think?"
"I already had this talk with Black Leg and I won't repeat," Law wedged the box under his arm and thought over a rather quick explanation that the Cyborg deserves since he did in fact create the present. "This is like a placebo; if she's persuaded they're helping her, her performance should improve. If not... Well that's a road I'll cross when the time comes," Franky nodded showing he understood.
"I suppose if you're trying to help," Franky shrugged.
"Thank you," Law bowed his head and progressed to leave the Cyborg's Workshop. It were another journey in itself just to get to the upper deck, Luffy bumped into the Surgeon and kept pestering the man into telling him what lied within the decorative box. Eventually it got so bothersome Law called upon his 'Room' and teleported himself to the upper deck. There, he were welcomed to another surprise, you were fighting Humming Brook, and rather well too.
You swiped your arm, a wave of clear jagged crystals rose from the deck of where Brook stood before he jumped within the air and float merrily due to his lack of meat on those bones. From there, you opened up Law's eyes of gold some more once you pulled out some of your prior experience in combat and with one jump, you were walking within the air. You shown your palms to the skeleton, a shard shot out from them like a bullet from a gun. Brook shrieked and dove out of the way by gliding out of reach, you followed with a puff of air under your feet.
"Whoa she can walk on air just like Sanji!" Luffy chuckled, catching most if not all of the attention from his crew. Everyone seemed to agree with Luffy, meanwhile Sanji furrowed his brow with concern.
"Am I missing something?" Law turned to the crew. Why is everyone so amazed by her fighting style? I'll admit, I've never seen it myself but it's nothing to go crazy for.
"That's a technique very few people know," Sanji couldn't take his cerulean eyes off your fleeting form of aggressive fury from the sky. "It's called Moonwalk, one of the six secret powers that the agents of CP9 use to travel within the air. I've learned the technique myself after learning such a technique exists," Law hummed to the newfound information, but it also didn't peak his interest all that much. "I know you've informed me of (Y/n)'s origins, but it's still very alarming she knows this Law," Law's blood went cold.
I'm beginning to not like Black Leg in the slightest... "How so?" Law remained calm, fixing his eyes on you as you kept chasing Brook within the air.
"If (Y/n) knows the six powers, that meant she were, at one point, a member of CP9," Sanji remembered back to two years earlier when the crew had just returned from Skypiea and sailed into the city of water named Water 7. The Mayor, Iceburg, were a wonderful man and his own employees out of the blue tried to assassinate him. Even their names were still fresh in his mind: Lucci, Kalifa, Blueno, Kaku, Jabra, and a few others that were a blur. They all knew the of the secret six powers and used them regularly in combat. Even with those cursed memories in the mind, Sanji couldn't help but to glare at the Surgeon wearing a spotted hat of white. "Law, aren't you aware of the possibility that (Y/n) is just an agent in disguise? CP9 were masters of disguise, even went as far as to go into hiding for five years and striked when the opportunity was right-"
"Sanji, why are you bringing up Enies Lobby?" Robin held a cold dead glare within her sapphire orbs.
"Law claims he's dating a former CP9 agent..." Robin took offense and switched her attention onto the Surgeon. "I could be mistakenly stirring up the pot, but I feel that (Y/n) could just be undercover and-"
"Like hell she's still an agent," Law growled. "I've known Kessho long enough to know she isn't. Let alone the Government left her in pieces and I had to put her back together-"
"Guys if Tra-Guy says she isn't an agent then she isn't," Luffy told the bunch. Be it the first time Law were thankful the idiotic Captain were around.
"Again, I said I could've been mistaken about my assumption and it looks to be that way," Sanji sighed. "Sorry about this Law. I know you're not very fond of me, especially after the first time we've spoken."
"Ya think?" Law huffed, crossing his arms.
"Is that it?" Sanji asked.
"Huh?" The Surgeon hummed.
"That box, is it the 'present'?" Law nodded his head, pulling the box out from beneath his arm.
"It was just completed," Law agreed, putting his attention onto you for a second time. You and Brook were still brawling within the air, Brook had his cane-sword drawn and slashing your crystal bullets to avoid becoming hit. You grew annoyed with his defensive attacks rather than becoming attacked, and changed from ranged attacks to close range. You spun yourself around the air, a kick springing yourself forwards within the air.
"Tempest Kick!" You growled, the air condensed into a rift as if it were cut. The slash headed right towards Brook, his features hardened and he were tired of dodging. His sword drawn, he cut through your attack much like the others , except this time his attack caught you as well, and Brook never even touched you. There were a sharp pain penetrating your stomach, breath caught within your throat, you fell out from the air. Law and Luffy jumped into action, Luffy inflated himself with air like a balloon and Law made sure he were in the correct spot. Luffy's bulbous belly acted like a pillow and you were safe, for now. Luffy had to deflate himself immediately as even contact with you made jagged blue tint crystals crawl up his body. Your powers were more than out of control now, that were clear, especially after that fight where you lost, your feelings must be swirling around like a tornado.
I'm not so sure if the present will even help her now... Law regrets to think and knelt down on his knees to assess your damages. Your hands were pressed to your hip, Law lied a hand on yours to move them, and just like Luffy, your crystals trapped his hand. "Kessho, deep breaths in, keep calm," Law grew a little worried once the crystals continued to climb up his arm. He did notice your change in breathing the second the crystals stopped their route, a change from pain laced in your features to calm tired bliss, the crystals melted like ice releasing the Surgeon from his bind. "Hm, interesting," he hummed. You didn't react, more you fell into a slumber within the moment allowing Law to work his magic onto you. He peeled your hands from your hip, pulled your shirt to roughly chest height, and examined the injuries.
You had a cut here and there, but where Brook had struck you was nothing more than a minor case of internal bleeding and dark purple bruises to occupy the flesh of your hip for a few days knowing how fast your body could miraculously heal. Law sat back, "You're a handful Kessho..."
"A handful indeed," Brook adjusted his hat and sheathed his sword. "I felt as if I were gonna die out there, YoHoHoHoHo!"
"My apologies," Law's head drooped.
"We agreed to help the gal so I see no problem in the slightest," Brook reassured him. 'Oh gosh we've arrived already!" Like a squirrel to a dog, Brook was distracted by another item of interest. Law got to his feet.
"We shouldn't be arriving at Dressrosa for another week," he stomped over to the railing, catching sight of an island dominated by plush foliage of many colors. There were even pink and blue trees poking out from the patches of green and brown. Dark storm clouds hovered above the island, vultures circling just below said clouds, their calls were audible even from a mile away. This island just screamed danger, but never has Law ever seen such an island even in the history books. "This isn't our island... turn around," Law spun to Nami who held her wrist to the man.
"The log poses all say to come here," she growled and in fact every pose on her wrist pointed towards it.
"Then what the hell island is it to have such a strong magnetic field?"
