19- Rannett: Benny's adventure ft. Razor
"Go to the Midsummer Courtyard Domain at Starsnach Cliff, an Abyss Mage stole my feather artifact and I want it back, it really looked well with my outfit. If you can get my feather back, I'll forgive you for blowing up, ripping, folding, tearing and ruining my book," Lisa explains.
"Deal!" Bennett exclaims, "Benny Adventure Team, assemble!
"Wait, Razor here will accompany you on your journey," Lisa says.
"OMG, HELLO I'M BENNETT," He says all too happily, he holds his hand out for a shake.
"I... Razor," Razor says, hesitantly taking Bennett's hand.
"Now go, I'll be expecting you to come back in three days, if you don't, I'll come and get you," Lisa assures the two.
"ADVENTURE TIIIIIIIME!" Bennett shouts as Razor walks by his side out of Mondstadt, with enough food to feed them for two days.
The two officially leave Mondstadt, leaving Timmie mad and growling at them, but who's he gonna tell about this? His dad? Hah!
"So Razor, it seems that you don't speak very much, are you not familiar with our language?"
"No," He says.
"Ah, that makes sense, well, I can do all the talking for you if you'd like!" Bennett says, turning his head towards the wolf boy.
"..Yes," He says.
"Great! If we meet anyone, you don't have to speak at all! And if you want something, don't forget to ask!" Bennett grins.
Razor nods to Bennett, but then feasts his eyes on the dirt path ahead of them. Bennett knew where Starsnach Cliff was, so they were fine, but Razor was still worried about treasure hoarders suddenly attacking them, but that thought was interrupted when someone was pushed to the floor with a grunt.
"Bennett?" Razor asks as he turns towards the sound.
"I'm fine, Razor, I just tripped!" Bennett says as he gets up.
Razor looks at where Bennett tripped.
"Trip..?" Razor asks, then turns his gaze toward the pyro boy.
"Yeah! It means that you fall on accident; when your foot catches on something you didn't know was there so you fall! I also have very bad luck so I trip at least three times everyday!" Bennett explains, holding up four fingers.
When Bennett gets no response from Razor, he just smiles and continues down the path. There wasn't much silence, for Bennett decided to talk about his friends and the previous members of Benny's Adventure Team.
That is until they reached the top of Starsnach cliff.
"Wait, we aren't supposed to be all the way up here, right?" Bennett asks himself, looking down at the map he always carried.
"No... Trip," Razor warns, and Bennett backs away from the edge he almost walked off of.
"I almost forgot! Thanks for the warning, Razor!" He says, trying to give a first bump to the boy.
"Oh, you probably don't know what a first bump is! So you form your hand into a fist... Then we bump our fists together! Fist bump!" The two fist bump, Razor having no idea what's going on.
"Aw man, that was a terrible fist bump! I'll show you how it's supposed to look like," Bennett says.
The unlucky boy proceeds to fist bump his own hands together, then try again with Razor. After a few tries, Razor and Bennett do a moderately okay fist bump.
"Yay, we did it! High five!" Bennett exclaims as Razor lets out a small smile.
Bennett raises his hand for a high five, but Razor leaves him hanging!
"Oh yeah, I forgot you don't know what a high five is..." Bennett gives a little pout.
"Sorry.." Razor says quietly.
"Oh no! You're totally fine! You didn't do anything! I was just exaggerating!" Bennett nearly shouts, trying to brighten the other's mood.
"Rea-ly?" He asks.
"Yeah! Of course!" Bennett smiles.
Then the smiling boy puts his hand out in a fist. Razor does it too, and they fist bump! But this time, Bennett's ankle found a crack in the dirt to dig into, forcing him to fall backwards, and then a Cecilia flower to make his other foot lift from the ground. Of course, tripping wouldn't be that bad, Bennett was used to that.
But... They were on a cliff. So...
"Oh shoot." Bennett says.
Then he falls down the cliff.
Leaving Razor.
On the top of a cliff.
Thinking that he just killed Bennett.
By giving him a fist bump.
But it's all fine! Razor lays on his belly -so he doesn't fall- and overlooks the water, just as a big SPLEUSH could be heard.
"Bennett!" He shouts, vaguely hearing some splashing noises.
Razor would hate to kill someone, so he was genuinly worried for the other, but then his off-white hair could be seen breaking the surface.
"I-" A pause to choke on water, "forgot how to swi-"
Then he pauses, Razor couldn't see Bennet's face, nor did he know if he was dead, but then Bennett's full body begins to float on top of the water.
"I forgot I could float!" Bennett shouts, and Razor makes a little sigh in relief.
After half an hour, Bennett floats successfully back onto shore and Razor climbed down the cliff on an easier side, as he didn't have a gliding lesson- or a glider.
"This is the place!" Bennett shouts, it's the third domain they went to, and third try's the charm!
Bennett, once again, gets no response from Razor. The overly-excited boy just brushed it off and proceeded to open the door with some caution, as he almost got smushed last domain by the two heavy doors. The two leave the night and enter even more darkness.
"And we're in!" Bennett exclaims.
"Hili," Razor says, pointing towards a group of hilichurls.
"Oh yeah! Maybe if we defeat them, we'll get Ms. Lisa's feather!" The unlucky boy quickly runs up to the danger, drawing his sword from thin air. Of course, he didn't grab it right as first so he drops it- but then he grabs it again and merges it with pyro, swinging it at the closest enemy.
Razor follows close behind him, he slashes the enemies with electro, sometimes causing the overload reaction from Bennett's pyro. The two teens had no fighting plan, just slashing at the hilichurls with elements and large metal sticks.
"Argh!" Razor hears Bennett shout.
Razor darts his eyes in Bennett's direction.
"I got hit with an arrow, we need to take out the hilis in the back!" He says, as he stupidly yanks the arrow out of his left arm.
"Let the enemies gather around me! I can take them! Get the archers!" He says, pointing towards the two hichurls shooting arrows with no element.
Razor lets out a grunt in response, running towards the archers and slashing them instantly.
A sudden flash of and orange-ish red came into his peripheral vision. Razor fully turns his eyes to Bennett, who had just tumbled to the floor. The hilichurls that were attacked with that power lie still and unmoving.
But then a sharp pain erupted from Razor's back.
"Razor!" Bennett shouts, eyes wide. "You got shot with an arrow!"
Razor summons his claymore and throws it toward the last hilichurl left. The blade slams perfectly into its face and Razor clutched his right shoulder blade, blood seeping from the wound.
"Lemme help you," Bennett says, crouching down to the other's eye level.
Bennett forms pyro in his hand then slams it into the floor, forming a warm circle around them. Then he grabs his backpack, grabbing for what seemed to be a pink flower a pink feather, he placed the flower's stem in between his hair and goggles and the plume in his ear.
"These artifacts increase healing by a little, I thought it'd help with your wound. Now turn around, I need to see what I'm treating," Bennett says rather calmly.
Razor slowly shuffled around so his back faces the other, he pulls up his hood all the way so its not in Bennett's way.
"Okay, I need to pull this out," Bennett says after a few second, earning a nod from Razor.
"My wounds were a lot less worse, that's so weird..." Bennett mumbles as he pulls the arrow out.
"Wow, you didn't even flinch- well, you did, but not that much!" Bennett exclaims.
"Now, the Benny Circle should be healing you up, but not clean you up. I still have blood on my arm from the arrow earlier, and the two arrows that hit my shoulder and around my knee, of course. My sword was also made in a special way so each time I use a bit of my vision, it heals a little bit of my wounds!" Bennett explains, turning Razor back around.
"I love my Traveler's Sword," Bennett says, drawing the red and black weapon and hugging it.
"Like Lupical?" Razor asks.
"Lupical?" Bennett repeats.
"Family," Razor explains.
"OOOOH, well, not really. I just like it and would hate if it broke or if I lost it," Bennett says.
Then the heat slowly faded from the floor.
"Aw man, I tried to make it hold for longer! Anyways, are you feeling okay?" Bennett asks.
"Yes... Bennett, good.. Hea-ler," Razor says.
"O-oh, well no need to compliment me- you did great too, the way you wield your claymore is super cool!" Bennett says.
"Varka.. Train," He says.
"Wait- Varka trained you?" Bennett attempts to translate.
"Mhm," Was his answer.
"OH. MY GOSH. THE GRANDMASTER TRAINED YOU!?" Bennett exclaims, stars forming in his eyes.
Razor nods calmly.
"THE GRANDMASTER OF MONDSTADT TRAINED YOU AND YOU JUST BRUSH IT OFF LIKE IT'S NOTHING!?" The not-so-calm blonde(?) shouted.
"He-was.. Nice," Razor says.
"I bet he was! He'll lead over Monstadt again after he's done with his quest-mission-thing!" Bennett says.
"Y'know, you should train me sometime," Bennett grins at Razor, who gives a small nod.
"Anyways, how is your wound?" Bennett asks again, just to make sure.
"Fine, you?" Razor asks.
"I'm totally fine, I've fought with a dislocated toe once!" Bennett says proudly.
Razor doesn't say anything to that, but he begins to move further away from the entrance, where another door would soon be opened.
It turned out that there was a puzzle needed to be solved to open the door, so the two use their very smart brains to solve it.
"So there are two thingies you can press, would we press them at the same time, or in a certain order?" Bennett asks, looking at the first cube-like-thing.
"One.. At time," Razor says, studying the second cube thing.
"Okay!" Bennett exclaims, fully believing that that was the right answer.
Bennett then did the stupid decision and slammed his hand into the cube-like-thing, and the door... Actually was opening... Nope, it was just making another door close. So now the two gays have TWO doors they need to get to. And- oh, now they can't use the cube thingies? That sucks.
"Oh no!" Bennett says.
"Camp.. Here. Wait for, Mama Lisa," Razor says.
"Yeah, we should wait- this room is also quite big so it may be hiding some stuff, like that cooking pot- WAIT," Bennett runs to a cooking pot, no fire below it but wood prepared for one.
"We can survive with the food we have, and if we need it, we'll just take food from barrels if we find any," Bennett says, actually being smart.
"Yes," Razor says, then he yawns.
"But we should sleep soon, when we entered the domain it was around midnight," Bennett says.
"I'll set a fire and we'll sleep next to it," Bennett says as he sets flame to the sticks below the cooking pot.
The pyro user also decided that they didn't need the pot there so he removed it.
"Goodnight!" Bennett says happily, laying on the floor.
Once again, there as no response, but Benny didn't mind! Both Razor and Bennett both fall asleep faster than the average when sleeping around a fireplace on a cold, hard floor.
By the time Bennett wakes up, he sees Razor running toward him holding some light-colored things, but Bennett just woke up and his vision is bad.
"Wheat and.. Potatoes," He says, placing the two wheat and four potatoes on the floor.
"Woah, the floor might be dirty!" Bennett exclaims, picking up the food and putting it in the cooking pot still sitting on the floor.
"Sorry," Razor says.
"Oh no, you're good, should we roast these though?" Bennett asks.
"Yes," Razor says.
Bennett is quick to take one potato out and let pyro envelope his hand, setting the potato on fire.
"Ah! I didn't know unrotten potatoes were so flammable!" Bennett screams as he runs around, throwing the potato in the air only to catch is again.
"Put it in.. Pot," Razor says, and the pyro boy instantly does so.
The now-burnt potato warms up the other potatoes, and the fire settles down.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have set fire to it so quickly..." Bennett mumbles.
"You are, fine," Razor puts a hand on Bennett's shoulder.
"Well, I guess I'll eat the burnt one, you can eat the warm ones," Bennett says.
Bennett quickly grabs the burnt potato and plops it in his mouth.
"Gah- itsh jot!" Bennett waves his hands at his mouth, trying to cool the potato down.
After Bennett eats the potato, Razor instructs him to roast the potatoes instead of burn them. The potatoes aren't the best, but aren't bad in the end, and the two pale-haired teens were happy.
"It's getting cold," Bennett says, squatting by the fire.
"I should've brought more layers and food..." He mumbles, "wait, why didn't we just eat the food I brought?"
Bennett takes his back from underneath his head, as if was currently being treated as a pillow. The boy opens the bag and finds... one normal egg and five soggy, drippy fried eggs.
"All we have for fire wood are these barrels and boxes, I wish we had some blankets, and the food's soggy!" Bennett complains.
"WAIT." Bennett suddenly says, standing straight up and sprinting towards a corner of the domain.
Razor was confused when the other left, but stayed close to the fire, trying to cover his bare belly with his hoodie thing. When Bennett comes back, he's dragging two wood boxes, and Razor runs to help. Once the two boxes are close to their camp, they stop dragging the boxes.
"We'll sit in these! They can reflect our body heat!" Bennett explains.
No response, but Razor opens the top of the box he was dragging. He jumps over the side and plops into the box.
"Is it okay if I close the lid?" Bennett asks.
A nod.
So Bennett closes the lid, leaving a little bit of space for air- even though they could breath in the boxes in the first place. The teen outside of a box tries to open his own, failing greatly.
"Razor," Bennett calls.
"Yes?" Razor asks, voice muffled through the box.
"Can you help me open my box?" Bennett asks.
Razor pushes the lid of his box up and jumps out gracefully.
"Sword," Razor says, summoning his claymore.
With his claymore, he pries open the lid in a quick second.
"Ooooohhh," Bennett says.
Bennett tries to jump into the box, well- he does, but his foot caught on one of the sides and he topples into the box. Momentum also decided to do its part and caused the box to also topple over and push Bennett out onto the floor.
"Well so much for sitting in a box..." Bennett mumbles.
"You.. Okay?" Razor asks.
"Wait! What if we tip the boxes over and warm our backs through the end and face the top towards the fire!" Bennett exclaims.
Razor was confused when Bennett moved the boxes near the burnt out sticks. Then Bennett grabs his lid and tries to break it.
"Help..?" Razor asks.
"Yeah! Can you tear this lid apart to make a fire place?" Bennett asks.
So the two make their camp a little warmer, a fire in the middle and two human-sized boxes lid facing the warmth. Razor and Bennett both sit in their designated boxes, their bodies a little warmer with the boxes containing their heat.
"Goodnight!" Bennett says.
"Ni..ght," Razor says.
...
"RAZOR," Bennett's voice screamed.
"Yes..?" Razor asks, rubbing his eyes.
"Its cold, can I join you in your box?" Bennett asks.
Bennett was right, it was really cold, his cheeks and hands rosy.
"Yes, fire from box," Razor says.
"Great idea!" Bennett exclaims.
Bennett and Razor disassemble Bennett's box and set it aflame. The two huddle together in Razor's box afterward.
"Well, I'm glad you came, otherwise I'd die from the cold," Bennett says jokingly.
"Die?" Razor asks, alarmed.
"Yeah, I'd be so unlucky I'd be blind to the boxes and be cold for a lond time," Bennett chuckles.
"Of course, I can produce heat with my vision, but I do have limits," Bennett explains, "wait- we should eat, all we had yesterday was those potatoes,"
A backpack was opened quickly and in it was six eggs.
"You can have the normal one," Bennett says, handing the one that's not soggy to Razor.
"We'll eat four today and safe the last two for tomorrow," Bennett says, taking three more out of the bag.
"Thank," Razor says, inhaling the two eggs he was handed.
The two were not tired, as they did nothing that day, but they tried to go to sleep anyways. The only sound was the crackling fire ahead of them. Bennett leaned against Razor's shoulder, dozing off into a dream. Razor glanced at Bennett, glancing at the two artifacts still in his hair. The plume was falling from his ear and the flower was still secure between his goggles and hair, Razor thought that the artiacts looked cute on Bennett.
"Yes, I made an.. Egg..." Bennett mumbles.
Then another sound was heard, and Razor was alarmed. A small weird giggle and a small crackle of a separate flame.
"Benny," Razor says, shaking his body aggressively to wake him up.
"Wha..?" Bennett asks, sitting up straight.
"Wait, was I leaning against you? I'm so sorry!" Bennett says, cheeks red from the cold, and maybe something else...
"Oh-byss," Razor says.
"Abyss mage?" Bennett guesses.
"Yes," Razor says.
"Okay, lets get ready for a battle," Bennett says, leaving the warm box.
A high-pitch screech.
"There it is- it's a pyro one," Bennett says as Razor shuffles out.
"Hihihihi," The Abyss Mage says.
"I have no idea what you're saying but I can't attack it because only elemental attacks work on it and I'm pyro. Good thing is, the shield should be warm and I'm FREEZING so Imma go charge at it," Bennett says, then charges.
"Hiya!" Bennett says, attacking the Abyss Mage with his sword.
"Oh, that's a warm shield," Bennett sighs as Razor lands a hit.
The Abyss Mage screetches as it waves its wand in the air and sends three fire balls in three opposing directions, only one having a possibility to hit them. But luck seemed to run out as Bennett was hit in the shin as he was dodging.
Bennett hissed in pain, but landed a pyro-infused hit on the Mage to heal himelf.
"I can heal us soon," Bennett says when Razor comes closer to him.
"Good," Razor says, even though he's woundless.
"Oh yeah, and when you're in my Benny circle, your weapon is infused with pyro!" Bennett shouts as Razor runs towards the enemy.
A crack and a hiss was sounded and the pyro shield was shattered.
"Oh no! The heat!" Bennett exclaims.
"Benny circle," Razor says.
"Right," Bennett shakes his head and concentrates on the battle.
Bennett sprints the short distance to the Abyss Mage and slams a fist of pyro into its face, causing it to shriek. Bennett falls back as Razor attacks with his electro wolf thing, pyro consuming its claws causing a nice blast of overload on the Mage.
A final screech and the Abyss Mage stopped moving. Razor stabs his claymore into the body just in case it was still alive.
"Well, I'm tired from all that running around," Bennett breathes.
"Agree," Razor says.
When Bennett plops onto the floor, still consumed by the Benny Circle's heat, Razor quickly follows, laying by his side. Razor held out his fist, Bennett was confused at first but then he held out his own. They fist bumped as they tried to calm their breaths.
"Well... That was a good adventure," Bennett says, facing towards Razor, "I had fun, I really like- uhm, spending time with you,"
"I.. Agree," Razor says happily.
"Aww, are you smiling?" Bennett asks.
"No," Razor turns away from the other.
Bennett bursts out laughing, and soon, Razor joins in too.
A few minutes pass. The Benny Circle faded, but they still were warm, and there was the sound of a door opening.
"Door open because fight.. Abyss Mage?" Razor asks, looking at Bennett.
"Are you two okay?" A familiar voice asks.
It was Lisa, she came a few hours earlier than she was supposed to and wore quite a worried expression, as she saw the two just laying on the floor.
"Shh," Razor shushes, glancing at Bennett.
"Oh, Bennett's asleep," Lisa notes.
"Well you stay here, I'll be right back," Lisa says, then walks off towards the cube puzzle.
After some electocuting the cubes, the door flings right open, and she enters. Some more sounds of crackling lightning and she walked right out, twirling a purple feather between her fingers.
"It seems I got what I wanted, let's head home,"
Lisa carried Bennett back to Mondstadt with Razor trailing behind. Bennett was unconscious for at least half the way, leaving Razor some time to think about the pyro boy.
Bennett was very kind to me.. I wonder if he's that nice to everyone else. What am I thinking? Of course he is. He's so cutely energetic... Even if he snores as loud as Mama Lisa. Well, I hope that I can speak with confidence when he wakes up, I am more confident around people I like.
"Razor," Lisa calls.
"Whuh- AGH," Bennett shouts as he falls from Lisa's shoulders.
"Oh, you're finally away, little cutie," Lisa observes.
"OH! We got out! Yay!" Bennett cheers, standing up quickly.
"Yes... We did, it," Razor says, managing a smile.
"OMG YOU'RE SO CUTE. Miss Lisa, can I keep him?" Bennett turns over to Lisa with pleading eyes.
Lisa smiles for a second, but then her face turns grim.
"No. He is my son." She says harshly.
"Darn it!" Bennett says, kicking up some dirt, making him cough.
"Well let's keep going," Lisa says.
"Hey Razor," Bennett says quietly while they walk, "can I keep you anyways? You're a real joy to be around,"
Razor didn't know how to respond, so he just stared at Bennett.
"I will never get over how cute you are," Bennett squeals.
"Razor, Bennett, hurry up," Lisa calls from ahead.
The two exchange a smile -Bennett's a lot bigger than Razor's- and dash up ahead to catch up with the adult.
"I guess trauma really does brings people together," Lisa mutters under her breath, smiling at the sight of her son smile with the other kid.
"I should do this more often," Lisa cackles.
