Making an OC Pt. 1

OC: Original Character

Before you can join a Roleplay, you should definitely make an OC of your own. There are four steps, and I'll walk you through them! For this, I will be using my OC, Rose, as the example!

Step One: Designing the Character

This is personally one of my favorite parts of making your character. People make the mistake of making a personality before the design - this is why we end up with so many dark-haired bad boys and perfect blonde girls. I say design the character and the personality separately.

For the first part of designing, I start with the ethnicity to give me a base and find the hair, eyes and skin tone from that. Rose is Irish. She has relatively pale skin, green eyes and straight blonde-red hair.

Note: You do not have to make your character have the same characteristics of the average Irish or whatever ethnicity your character is!

Height and weight is next. Make sure the height and weight correlate correctly! Rose is 5'1 and 113 lbs. This is slightly heavier than most short girls, but Rose is curvy. I suggest looking up a chart or converter so you get it right.

Next, pick out imperfections for your character to have. Freckles, scars, deformities. Whatever you wish. Rose has a few freckles on her cheeks.

Lastly, you need to figure out their style. What kind of clothes do they wear? What kind of clothes would they hate? Do they care about their appearence? Remember, this includes makeup, jewelry, and shoes as well as the normal pants and shirts.

Rose cares a lot about her appearance. She wears classic Hot Topic style clothes - dark skinny jeans, boots, fandom and band shirts, hoodies, chokers, and a lot of silver jewelry. Rose doesn't wear a lot of makeup, but likes eyeliner and mascara.

Now, your character is designed! Next, we'll go over creating your personality.
