Our Busted Gulch story started by a teasing comment between Ronan O'Boyle and Ruechari in the short story selection Sagebrush Showdown. lyttlejoe had thought a showdown between the two authors would be fun calling them out in his "NO QUOTERS" poem and  Bill Temple (original co-founder of the Storytellers Saloon) took his poem and turned it into it's own TITLE...

No one could have imagined what happened next. The misunderstandings grew with Ruechari believing she had somehow gotten herself in trouble with the moderators here at the Saloon who turned out to be a bunch of misplaced commas. Bill stealing lyttlejoe's name, adopting Wild Bill for himself. No one being able to get lyttlejoe's character's name right...which after giving up all hope he shortened to 3Gun, and in all this hilarity and craziness a story was born.

Things only got more fun... and confusing as new writers joined the jolly band. leandralynx was the first to jump in, coming to Ruechari's defense, her horse SixStar becoming more famous than any of us. Before we knew it a bunch of mismatched characters written by AliceMorris7, RonanOBoyle, leandralynx, lyttlejoe, and Ruechari were sitting themselves down for a rousing game of FISH, with a payment of one limerick, about SixStar of course, to be had by the loser.

Trouble comes to town, in the form of BillTemple Wild Bill (the name stealing sheriff) and the Doc (theOldPoet) both harboring secrets and pasts that were trying desperately to catch up to them. All the while quietly sitting in the corner, trying to unearth those secrets, sipping her lemonade was our resident know it all CrazyGoose (crazyp01) otherwise known as CG, ace reporter. 

And then there was CrazyEyes Charlie - Sorry Charlie!!!! (onelost4evr) who try as he might couldn't seem to get out of a state of unconsciousness to be able to cause any trouble in the Gulch.

Shots were fired, the band dispersed, as a paranormal element was introduced, resulting into it's own spin off A New Destiny where Ruechari sets off to discover who her father really is, when a dark stranger rides into town (the Reaper) written by Bill Temple, promises to take her to him and slowly reveals her true destiny, to become Shaman of the West. Soon that story was joined by theOldPoet, who shocks us all when we discover the Doc is a Werewolf and the Doc's girlfriend Long Leg Liz is Queen of the Vampires, and onelost4evr became the gun toting, gadget loving, Van Helsing ancestor who tries to keep the big baddies at bay.

A NEW DESTINY

Busted Gulch regroups and gambling is the scene. The first ever BUSTED GULCH HORSE RACE was the talk of the town. The winner to be decided by the writers in a competition for the best poem written by the readers about the winning horse. The winning poem was written by stannbear. This now started a whole new story line involving a fixed race, gambling rings, show girls, train robberies, villains and interrogations. stannbear who was awarded a walk on in the story became a permanent resident (writer) in the Gulch as the story grew.

We had the first death of a main character Lean who shocked us all but thankfully (leandralynx) rejoined us as Raven a young cowboy with a past we have yet to unearth. 

Soon with over 100 chapters and a rank of 100 (ironically on the SHORT STORY Hot List), the Gulch story and crew started to outgrow their old home and resettled themselves in 

Busted Gulch vol. 2.

A investigator rides into town on a mission in the form of Kae (kpmoulton) and finds herself kidnapped by a local witch Ruby (catlover215). Upon Kae's rescue the town celebrates but it would seem Ruby was to have the last laugh as she hexes their celebratory muffins sending them all into parallel universes in the...

SPECIAL HALLOWEEN EDITION: Night of the Muffins.  

The spell was broken and it was back to business as usual but during the hunt for Ruby, who had escaped from jail, it was discovered that she was related to Steel and her Gang who used Ruby's infamous Chocolate Pudding to break out of County Jail and once again tried to cause havoc for the Gulch. This time they were after Alister's deed as it would seem his old home now sits on a vein of gold. What will they do with the deed... What will happen to BG if it becomes a boom town... guess you'll just have to read and see... 

BUSTED GULCH vol. 3

The Deed is indeed confirmed the gold is real and it's worth it's weight in muffins. Rumors of the gold are spreading fast and so is the town. A tent city has been erected to accommodate the newcomers. Nothing seems the same anymore, a storm is brewing in the tent city as a new villain Tex Mex has shown he will not be pushed around. Are the heros of the Gulch ready to take on such a formidable foe? Will the Gulch survive the on going changes? Will all our heros make it to see another day? BUSTED GULCH vol. 4

Tex Mex had been stopped though he got away. The Red House Girls were now free. What better way to land them back on their feet then hosting a Jamboree. Tex Mex is not through with the Busted Gulch Gang and he planned his revenge well. The entire town and most of the Tent City has arrived to celebrate his downfall at the BG Jamboree. He has used a potion, gleaned from Señora Ruby (the witch) that was guaranteed to have his enemies singing a swan song.

He mixes the elixir with CG's lemonade. Soon they will ALL perish.

Or so he thinks... only instead of dropping dead...

They all burst out into song instead.

The BG Jamboree - Busted Gulch the Musical

The jamboree is over. Tex Mex has escaped again but not before making a sinister promise to return and take his revenge. The town is growing and so has the characters that have decided to stay on at the Gulch and make it their home. Will Alister's deed bring prosperity or disaster to the Gulch... only time can tell.

Busted Gulch vol. 5

The bad guys are piling up in the Gulch. CG's been kidnapped by her cousin. Will the Sheriff get to her in time. Will she be absolved of her crime? Will Lou figure out the clue? With Tex finally get his revenge? Will Alister find what he's looking for? Only one way to find out.

Busted Gulch vol 6

Tex Mex has blown up Busted Gulch and blasted it's residents into the future. Now this Wild West gang as been transformed into 1930's U.S. Citizens, living and working in the time of speakeasies, rival gangs and prohibition. Only instead of alcohol being prohibited it is Muffins and the body of Shamus McGinty, Mob boss of an Irish Gang from the city of Oh Aces has turned up dead in the Muffin District of the big city of Busted Gulch. The cause of death unknown. The only clue...is a half eaten muffin and just about everyone is suspect. In a world turned upside down. Will the Gang solve this crime and get back to their own time? A BG spin-Off written in prose.

Muffins of Remorse

The Jail is gone. The Church is still being rebuilt. The Tent City is growing and so is the Crime Rate. Dogs are running rampant, cats are prohibited, but thankfully muffins are back on the menu. But with Busted Gulch's last Mayor being arrested for corruption, the office and job is now open. Who will be BG's next Mayor?

Busted Gulch vol 7

An election was won, Mayor Lorne Order has been sworn in. There is a lot going down all over town... it's hard to say which way the twists will turn. But the event not to miss is the Wedding of Mayor Lorne Order and Myna Mae Darkly our deputy. Their love has past the test, the details been set, with a love they know will last. Will all go as planned or will fate play a hand?

The river has been open to trade, and the Riverboats are rolling in. Bring trouble in spades. Gamblers, Mistresses, bad guys galore and so much more, BG has in store in Busted Gulch vol 9.
