I hope you are enjoying the exercises. Here are the answers for the exercises given in the first chapter. If you wish you can mark yourself as well. Each question carries 1 mark. So, combined together, the three exercises are of 30 marks.
So, here you all go.
EXERCISE 1: Divide the following sentences into subject and predicate–
1. The boy stood on the burning deck.
SUBJECT: The boy
PREDICATE: stood on the burning deck
2. Don’t make a noise.
SUBJECT: You (this is an imperative sentence and the subject ‘You’ has not been written)
PREDICATE: don’t make a noise
