Hive City Walls

Guardsmen Rhodes of the Cadian Shock Troops.

Yet again for what felt like the 1000th time I was walking on top of the Hive City walls, doing routine patrolling until my shift's up and another poor sod take my place. To be completely honest, I wished I had died when the attack from Orks came out of nowhere. The only way to get even some rest in the Imperial Guard is by death. Like literally.

Rhodes' mind: 'Just another hour until my shift's done.'

I continued to pace along the walls flooring, the only thing proving some privacy or cover on these walls were the walls of sandbags and turret emplacements, there were guys on the lower dirt ground in trenches. They act as the first line while us on the walls were second.

Rhodes: I wonder if the Commissar is getting his precious time. Fucking bastard.

Unlike many Guardsmen who sometimes adore their accompanying Commissar, I didn't. Our regiment got a fucking cunt of a Commissar, I just wished a laser shot from a lasgun came in and killed him. Anyways while I was pacing through the wall, I saw a small metal stairway.

Rhodes: Well I still have some more time. I'll just smoke a little then I'm done.

I went to the stairway and went down it, at the end of the stairway there was a door.

Rhodes: Perfect, should be good enough.

I placed my hand on the door handle.

*Click*
*Clack*

I pushed down the handle a d opened the door not thinking anything of what's inside.

Rhodes' mind: What in the name of the Emperor?

To my surprise there were two people inside one being a woman with short dark hair and the other a shorter girl with short blonde hair, one in a white dress and rocking something like a short black skirt only to the upper thigh and elongated socks probably along with a floating aparatus above her head. The other was wearing a coat, white shirt, a red tie, and a longer beige colored skirt.

Rhodes: What is going on here!

I shouted that got the witch's attention, as I held and aimed my Lasgun at them.

Witch: Don't even try, human weapons doesn't do much.

Rhodes: That wasn't a warning witch.

I fired a single shot from my Lasgun at her hand.

Witch: OW!

The shot caused the witch to drop the girl, and it made a burn mark on her hand. I ran up and got in front of the girl while aiming my Lasgun at the witch, the witch then looked back at me with an angered face.

Witch: Did you just shoot me?

Rhodes: That was the warning, witch.

Witch: Why you-

I switched my Lasgun's firing mode from single shot to fast fire.

Rhodes: Die witch!

I pulled the trigger and unleashed a full barrage of laser from my Lasgun. It wasn't doing her harm, damned witch.

Rhodes: Girl, you should-

I looked behind me to see that she held some kind of watch and opened a portal. Was she a psyker?

Girl: Hold on!

She grabbed my flak armor from behind and pulled me with her into the portal, it felt like I was falling from the sky.

Rhodes: WHOAAAA!!!

Witch: Come back here Watson!

The witch came after us into the portal.

Girl: Sorry for this!

The girl pushed me forward as we were falling, another portal opened in front of me and I fell through it.

*SPLASH*

I landed in water and I instantly got up fearing it was toxic waste, but it melt me into mush so it seems to be okay.

Rhodes: Great now my uniforms soaked.

I looked around and saw my Lasgun on the dirt outside of the water. I went and walked out of the pond and bent down to get my weapon.

Rhodes: At least it's dry.

I slung my Lasgun on my shoulder and observed where I was.

It seemed to be a park, with pink trees? I assumed I was teleported into the part of the Hive City's elite sector but when I looked up it was night time.

Rhodes: Strange... Last time I checked it was still bright.

I decided to check where I was at, venturing out of the park and onto the streets.

It dawned on me that I am no longer at the hive city.

Rhodes: That blonde haired girl... Where did she take me to?

Civilians in clothing I do not recognize walked on the streets, weird wheeled vehicles also drove by.

I walked until I was at a large open space, the ground had weird striped marking that probably serves no use. I also feel like many people were looking at me, I can hear them whisper as well. As I cane to the end of the road, looking behind me I saw a little girl and an older woman who is probably her mother standing there waiting.

Little girl: Whoa look mommy! A soldier!

The girl pointed at me, I tried my best not to make eye contact.

Mother: It seems so dear.

Little girl: Can we take a photo with him.

A photo? What in the Emperor's name is that?

Mother: Okay sweetie, wait a moment ok?

The mother tapped on my shoulder.

Mother: Uhm... Excuse me sir?

Seeing no choice I turned.

Rhodes: Yes? What is it?

Mother: My daughter here wants to take a picture with you. Are you alright with that.

I looked down at the little girl, her eyes were beaming with happiness. Probably her first time seeing s soldier.

Rhodes: I see why not.

Mother: Thank you kind sir.

I kneeled down to the little girls height and the mother took out some weird rectangular device.

*Snap*

A snapping sound was made by the device, the mother then showed me the screen of the device. To my surprise, it was an image of me kneeling with her daughter. I got up and looked at the device with a genuine surprise.

Mother: Thank you sir, my daughter really likes soldier costumes.

A costume? She thinks of my uniform as some sort of flashy wear?

Mother: What do you say to Mr. Soldier?

Little girl: Thank you Mr. Soldier!

The girl thanked me in probably the most happiest voice I heard. I felt myself smile too.

Rhodes: No problem little one.

And with that both the mother and daughter walked away. I sighed and looked up.

Rhodes' mind: Emperor please hear me...  Guide me through this unkown world...

I prayed that the Emperor would hear me, a worthless soul in the imperium. I then continued to venture out in the city, trying to find what kind of world I am on
