What Would You Like For Christmas? 🎄
Starting December, Kevin was impersonating Santa Claus at the Gotham Mall. On one day in December he was at the mall wearing the Santa Claus outfit. It featured the fat suit, white beard, white wig, and the suit of course. He used the same cartoony jolly voice. He was by those "Visit Santa" booths sitting on a throne, greeting children, and taking photos. Barbara was in the mall with some friends. She needed some free time and she said to go out and have some fun with Frankie and Dinah. Babs glanced at the booth as she smiled at it, thinking it was cute. Both Dinah and Frankie dragged her into the store adjacent from the booth. Kevin was talking to a little girl who was sitting on his lap. "And what's your name little girl?" Kevin asked in his Santa voice. The girl was holding a Pinkie Pie plushie. "My name is Abigail," she said. "Abigail, what a pretty name," complimented Kevin, "have you been good this year?" Abigail giggled and said, "Yes Mr. Claus."
"What would you like for Christmas, Abigail?" Kevin asked. "I want the My Little Pony playset," she said, "it features Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Cadence, Princess Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rarity."
"That's a very detailed list Abby," said Kevin, "I'll see to it my little helpers can do that for you Abby." She smiled happily and hugged Kevin. Babs and Dinah were both looking at the booth to pick out clothes. "That's so cute, isn't it?" Dinah exclaimed. "Yeah... I feel like I know the guy playing Santa... But with the beard and the fat suit I don't know if I can place features from this distance," said Barbara, and she looked at the man, then she turned back to the clothes. The photographers took their photos of Santa and Abigail, and Kevin did his best Santa laugh, going, "Ho, ho, ho!" The only thing that was even remotely recognizable was his dark blue eyes.
"I can't see much either. Once we're done here we can go see if you recognize him," said Dinah as she went to check another rack of clothing. Frankie walked out of the dressing room with a green dress and Babs turned around to look at her. "You look fantastic, Frankie," complimented Barbara as she smiled at her, grabbing a brown jacket. "What do you guys think?" she asked and Dinah put her thumb sideways as if to say eh... "I saw another one similar to that on the rack in the front," she told her and Babs went to check it out. Coincidentally, she had a slightly better view of Kevin. After a few more minutes of posing and talking to children, the people running the booth told Kevin he could go to lunch. Kevin stood up and eyed Barbara. He smiled, seeing her. Once he smiled, Barbara immediately recognized him. "Frankie, Di, I'll be right back," she said leaving the jacket she had chosen in Dinah's arms, and walking over to Kevin. She waved at him. Kevin waved back. He pointed at the little house he used to change into costumes, indicating that he was going to change into his regular clothes and talk to her. She nodded and waited for him to walk out. Babs looked rather casual in jeans and a long-sleeve top. Her hair was tied up and she wore glasses, not unlike her usual style. Kevin went inside and took off the Santa costume, and got into some more regular clothes. He opened the door and asked, "Is it safe to come out?"
"Yeah. There aren't any kids looking, Kevin." Barbara whispered with a small smile. Kevin got out in his regular clothes and shut the door behind him. "Hey Babs," he said, smiling, "funny seeing you here." Barbara tightened her ponytail and asked, "Hi Kev... Funny why?" Kevin got out of the booth and said, "Well, it's a pleasant surprise, that's all."
"I'll say. It's sweet that you're doing that for those kids," she told him, admiring his generosity, "I'm just shopping with some friends though."
"I figured it'd be fun," said Kevin, "and are you having fun?"
"Yeah, Dinah and Frankie are always a blast," she chuckled and tucked her hands into her jean pockets. "Well I'm on my lunch break," said Kevin, "you hungry?"
"A little bit. I'll tell the girls I'm going to go eat," she told him and made her way to the store. "Sounds good," said Kevin as he patiently waited for her. Barbara walked over to her friends Frankie and Dinah. Frankie smirked and looked around and spotted Kevin along with Dinah. They both looked at each other and pushed her out, Barbara rolling her eyes. "They cool with it?" asked Kevin as he looked at them. Then he looked at Barbara. "Well if they're smiling and smirking at me, they're okay with it," she chuckled. "Well that's good," said Kevin, "where to Babs? We got tons of options."
"We could just go to the food court and get some pizza," she offered and shrugged. "Pizza sounds nice," said Kevin, "can't go wrong with that." He saw where the pizza court was. "Definitely not," she chuckled, "you said you liked to cook right?"
"Yep," said Kevin, "it's my passion. It was a way Mom and I bonded. I was her little chef." They walked over to the pizza stop. She chuckled. "What's your favorite thing to cook?" Barbara questioned curiously. "Hmmmm, I like cooking burgers, anything Italian and Mexican," said Kevin, "especially desert. Pastries, cake, you name it." He looked at the pizza cashier and said, "one slice of pepperoni and a lemonade please."
"I'll have what he's having," said Barbara, then she turned to Kevin, "honestly, all those things you just mentioned are delicious." Kevin paid for the lunch and the pizzas and drinks were given to them. "Believe me, I get very creative with the food," said Kevin, "I've thought of one hamburger where the beef has a stick of cheese stuffed in it, and instead of buns, it's fried chicken sandwiching the burger." He found a place they could sit in. "Oh my gosh, that actually sounds so good," she said as she held her order. "I'd definitely test that." Kevin sat at the table and said, "I'll definitely make it for you." He was now ready to eat his pizza. She gave him a smile before digging in. Once she had her first few bites, she took her glass of lemonade. "The pizza here is pretty good."
"Agreed," said Kevin, "so, you looking forward to Christmas?" She nodded. "Yeah. Definitely, I love Christmas." Babs told him happily. "What about you?"
"It is my most favorite holiday," Kevin excitedly said, "I love everything about it!" He took a few bites of his pizza. "What's your favorite part about it?" Barbara asked him, enjoying his excitement. She rested her head on her hand as she ate. "I love the songs and the Christmas specials," Kevin said, feeling nostalgic, "especially holiday themed food. I got to say, the peppermint mocha at that coffee shop sure is good. What's your favorite part about it?"
"I've got to agree with you, the food is one of my favorite things about Christmas but I think that my favorite part is spending it with family," reminisced Barbara, "Christmas with my dad sure is something."
"What do you and him do on Christmas?" Kevin asked out of curiosity as he sipped lemonade. "We have movie marathons and we sing Christmas songs as we decorate the tree. We used to have a dance party too when I was younger," she chuckled. "Sounds like fun," said Kevin, "out of curiosity, what do you got planned for this year?"
"The same thing we do every year, Kevin." Barbara smirked at the reference she made. She remembered it from the many times she watched it with her dad. "Try to take over the world!" Kevin said, doing his best impression of the Brain, which was semi ironic because the voice actor to the Brain, Maurice LaMarche, based the voice on actor Orson Welles. "Nice one. Not sure what I'm going to do this year." She chuckled, "you could come over to my apartment and celebrate with us. Unless the Wayne's have their own party." Babs finished up her pizza and moved on to her lemonade. "I'll talk to Dad, see what happens," promised Kevin, "one way or another, you'll get a call from me indicating what happens this Christmas."
"Alright. That sounds great. It'll be great to introduce you to my dad if you come. I'm not going to the Wayne party this year though." Barbara said with a shrug. "That's okay," said Kevin, "I don't know half the people either, so I'm probably going to catch a movie. Maybe that Possession of Hannah Grace movie, just to see how bad it is. Or I might watch Ralph Breaks the Internet. I hear they got It's a Wonderful Life in theaters."
"That's such a bittersweet movie. I see it with my dad a lot during Christmas," admitted Barbara. "It's definitely my favorite Christmas movie," said Kevin as he finished his pizza. "Okay, but you've got to admit, Home Alone is fantastic." Barbara pointed out. "That movie totally makes me laugh," chuckled Kevin as he did the Kevin McCallister pose, "let's just pretend that the sequels that occurred after the second film didn't happen." Barbara started laughing. "You're such a goof," she said and smiled, her head still leaning on her hand. Then she nodded. "But I have to agree with you on that. I honestly watch the first and second movie only." She shrugged. "Why did John Hughes even write that third one?" Kevin asked, dumbfounded. "I don't know. Makes no sense," said Barbara as she smiled. "I mean, if none of the characters from the first two films aren't even in the third film, then why call it Home Alone 3?" Kevin asked as he sipped his lemonade. Barbara shrugged and shook her head, she actually had no idea why. "Even if it wasn't a sequel to Home Alone, it would still be a bad kids film on its own with forced slapstick. I'm all for slapstick comedy, but if it feels forced..." Kevin said as he continued to sip his lemonade. "You're not wrong," said Barbara as she shrugged and nodded, "I guess they just ran out of content."
"Yeah..." said Kevin. By then he finished his lemonade. Barbara agreed and set her cup down, it was just filled with ice now. Kevin looked at his phone and said, "Holy smokes I better get back and suit up."
"What's happening?" Barbara asked him, standing up already. "Got to get my Santa suit on is all," said Kevin as he got up and threw away his trash. "Oh. I'll walk you there, I'll join my friends anyway," she told him and threw away for things. "Sounds good," said Kevin as he walked with Barbara. She smiled at him and looked around for her friends. He smiled back. A couple minutes later, they were outside the Santa booth. "Well guess that's my cue," said Kevin, "see you around." Barbara smiled at him and looked around for her friends. After that, Kevin went back to work. What they didn't know was that the same motorcycle dude that was at the coffeeshop was watching them.
