Prologue
A long time ago, before Bruce Wayne became Batman, he met a beautiful young woman named Andrea Beaumont. She was the first love of Bruce's life, and she did what no other woman did. She made Bruce consider NOT becoming Batman. They were even going to get married. But unfortunately, Andrea's father Carl owed money to a mob. Not just any mob. The Red Hood Mob! And Andrea sadly had to leave Bruce. Without Andrea, Bruce had no reason to live a normal life. And thus...
He became the Batman! As for Carl and Andrea, they fled Gotham City, trying to pay back the Red Hood Mob. But it wasn't enough. The mob sent one of their hitmen to hunt Carl, and the hitman murdered him. After that, something in Andrea snapped. She swore revenge on the mob who ruined her life. And thus, she became The Phantasm!
A couple years later, she went back to Gotham City to hunt down the men responsible for her father's death. She took each former Red Hood member out one by one. While there, she saw Bruce again. They tried to reconcile. And they almost did. But sadly, Andrea found out Bruce was Batman, and Bruce found out Andrea was the Phantasm. They had a falling out involving The Joker, and Andrea was gone, just like that.
Or so one thought. It turned out that Andrea was alive. What Bruce didn't know was that he and Andrea unknowingly conceived a child. When Andrea found out she was pregnant, she decided to retire from being The Phantasm. Once that was finished, Andrea gave birth to a healthy baby boy. She named him Kevin Adam Beaumont. When Kevin was born, Andrea converted to Catholicism, and raised Kevin in a Catholic upbringing, having him be baptized, receive his first communion, and be confirmed. He spent his childhood in Bellevue, Washington. Kevin was Andrea's redemption, and the best thing that ever happened to her. If it weren't for him, she would've killed herself a long time ago.
Of course, Andrea told Kevin of whom his father was when Kev was in his adolescence. She didn't leave a single detail out, and didn't sugarcoat anything. But Kevin never resented his father. But he did want to meet Bruce. Once Kevin graduated from college, he made his decision. Kevin wanted to go to Gotham City and meet his father. Andrea knew it would be pointless to tell Kevin to back off. He was as stubborn as his father sometimes.
"If you're going to meet your father," said Andrea, "you should at least give him these." The first thing she gave Kevin was his birth certificate, which confirmed that Bruce Wayne was Kevin's biological father. The other was a letter written specifically for Bruce. "I will Mom," promised Kevin. "You'll call me when you get to Gotham, right?" asked Andrea. "Don't worry Mom, I will," promised Kevin. They were outside, and all of Kevin's bags which had a lot of his clothes and personal possessions were in his car. Andrea hugged her son and said, "I'm so proud of you son. Be safe out there, okay? I love you." She smiled at her little boy, all grown up. "I love you too Mom," said Kevin, "and no matter where I go, you'll always be in my heart." He smiled as he got in his car, and waved goodbye to his mother one last time. He couldn't help getting choked up. He then started his car, and drove off.
