Nine

Jenna was late for work. It was her last day and she was supposed to train the new girl Eva who would take her place. She looked like she came right out of highschool and therefore perfect for the job. Boris said she would be light on her feet and wouldn't elope with customers. He was still mad that she had gotten married without telling them. She had to promise him she would throw a reception and invite him to meet her husband's friends who were also filthy rich for the man to stop giving her evil looks.

Jeremiah had told her she could keep working if she wanted to. He didn't mind his wife working so long as it was a decent job. But Jenna wanted to dedicate all her time to their marriage. They were newly weds and if both of them dived back into work, they wouldn't have time to be with each other. If she left her job she could stay at home and make it into something they would be comfortable in. Besides she wanted to go back to school. Her savings were enough to pay for the business course she wanted to take. Add the money her husband deposited to her account and she could do whatever she wanted.

It had been a month ever since they'd come back from their honeymoon and money was the first thing they argued about. She didn't want him to make deposits to her personal account but he wasn't hearing any of it. So she gave in if only to stop their arguments. It was too early for them to fight over something as stupid as money. If she didn't want to use it then it would keep piling up. No problem there. This week they were going house hunting. Apparently an apartment wasn't ideal to raise a family.

"Hi guys." Jenna called out when she walked into the bakery.

"Hey. So Luis made you a small goodbye cake." Lily told her

"Thank you guys so much. You're the best"

"Please my eyeliner is not waterproof so don't start with the soppy goodbyes." Boris retorted from behind the counter. He was joking but Jenna knew that among her friends he was the one who took it hard when she said she was leaving.

"Don't be a jerk B" Lily replied shoving him.

The day went pretty fast and by the end of it Jenna had cleared her locker and was ready to go. Everyone insisted on hugging her even though she said she will still visit from time to time. On her way home she bought a recipe book. Jeremiah had been cooking most of the time and she wanted to try out something new for him. Their marriage had been going on well despite the little fights they had now and then. She entered the house and heard Jeremiah on the phone. Following his voice she found him in the bedroom packing.

"Hey going somewhere?" she asked when he ended the call. He didn't answer just grabbed her and kissed her.

"I'm going to miss you. And to answer your question yes. I have business to take care of in Japan. I'll be gone for two weeks" he said wincing. That was too long even for him.

"And what will I be doing for said two weeks?"

"I don't know. Shopping, spa day or week whatever you want to" he'd wrestled her to the bed and was lying on top of her.

"Okay. I'll sort myself out. How long before you leave?"

"Why do you have any ideas?"

"Plenty." she said wrapping her legs around his waist and digging her heels into his back.

The first day was the hardest. Jenna had no idea what to do with herself since she had also left her job. She cleaned out her wardrobe and took out clothes she didn't wear anymore to donate to charity. The second day she went shopping as he had suggested. Even though he deposited money in her account every week he still left her the credit card he had given her in Vegas. She bought him a red tie she had liked and added to her collection of heels. She had a haircut and a mani-pedi. By the fourth day she was done with her list of to do things. Jenna walked around the house aimlessly trying to find something to do.

Jeremiah had called her everyday since he had left no matter the time. He knew she stayed up all night waiting for his call and he loved her more for that. He called his sisters on the weekend and told them to go keep her company. Terry had been insisting that they go for dinner so he could introduce her but he was just so busy and he couldn't send her over there alone. So he would introduce his family to her in doses. Zoe and Chloe would get to know her so that when they finally went to meet them, she wouldn't feel like a stranger.

On Saturday that first weekend Jenna woke up when she heard someone downstairs. They were in the kitchen and upon closer inspection she heard two people talking. She stopped dead in her tracks. How could thieves get in her house? It was impossible so it had be people her husband knew. But he would have called to inform her they were coming. Maybe his friends were thieves? No way. That's stupid Jenna all his friends have money like him. Then who were they? She took a step forward then stopped. Better to arm herself than walk in vulnerable. She grabbed a vase from the bedroom and went to meet her intruders.

"Beware I'm Armed." she called out hoping that would scare them away.

"With what a vase?"

"If that's real it probably cost a few bucks. Better put it down before you actually harm it." Two teenagers. Who looked eerily alike.

"Are you guys twins?"

"Oh my God I love her." the one with longer hair said. That was probably the only difference between them. One with long straight hair while the other had short curly shoulder length hair. And even that couldn't dim their similarities.

"Shut up." the girl with the short told the other one. "Hi am Zoe and she's Chloe. We're Jere's sisters"

"Oh. Nice to meet you. I'm Jenna" she breathed out. So not thieves.

"What? Where's Jennifer then? Did he divorce her already?" Chloe shrieked. She was loud enough to make Jenna wince.

"No. I'm Jennifer. I just prefer people calling me Jenna."

"Why? It doesn't even rhyme with Jennifer. You could have picked Jen or Jenny" Great. Jenna thought. She hadn't made a good first impression because her nickname didn't rhyme with her given name.

"Ignore her. She tends to overreact a lot... Sorry we barged in but Jere said you were bored and needed company" Zoe said. She was the quiet one while Chloe was the loud one.

"It's okay. Nice to meet you two. He talks a lot about you." Jeremiah had told her they were twelve almost thirteen. "So how did you guys get here again?"

"She sounds like mom" Chloe complained crossing her arms around her stomach.

"Our driver dropped us off. Dad wanted to but we told him not to worry." Zoe was clearly the adult here.

"Okay. Make yourselves at home and I'll just take a shower."

"Do you want breakfast? I can make you something" Zoe asked and Jenna thought she really liked her. She was nice and warm compared to Chloe who was snobby and snappy. But it made sense. Just because they were alike physically didn't mean their personalities had to be too.

"Really you don't have to. I'll be right back" she said then hurried upstairs.

All three of them spent the day watching romantic comedies and laughing. After she got to know the twins Jenna realized that Chloe wasn't so bad. Her only problem was that she had no filter at all. "Tell us how you guys met" Zoe asked and Chloe snorted.

"Who cares. Tell us how he is in the bedroom" She whispered making both Zoe and Jenna gasp.

"Chloe!"

"What? Am curious. How long is.... " Zoe jumped on her and clamped her hand on Chloe's mouth muffling whatever she was about to ask.

"We're going out. Get your coats" Jenna decided. If she stayed indoors with them they would end up driving her crazy. Not that she minded. She enjoyed their company and when Chloe wasn't being nosy and inappropriate, she was fun.

It was afternoon so they went shopping. The twins wanted new dresses and Jenna was happy to give them her opinions. After that they went to a restaurant then the movies. By the time they got back home they were exhausted. Zoe volunteered to cook them Mac and cheese for dinner and they spent another hour chatting before going to bed. Sunday was spent in bed just lying around in their pajamas. They had nothing to do so stayed in bed all day taking turns to go for food in the kitchen. In the evening their driver came for them and they promised to visit again soon.

Jenna spent the next week at the bakery with Lily and Boris teasing her about how she had turned into a real housewife. She didn't have a job, Her husband was traveling and all she had to do was sit around or go shopping. "You should form a club" Boris suggested. Jenna decided to ignore him and instead help Lily in the kitchen. Eva was okay according to her friend but they still missed her. On Wednesday Jenna was walking around the apartment aimlessly. She had been doing that at night when she couldn't sleep. It was still early and she wondered if she should go out. A club was too loud and a restaurant wouldn't do. She couldn't just walk in and sit on a table alone.

She decided to go back to the bedroom and read. Maybe if she picked a boring book, she would eventually fall asleep. Jeremiah had a collection of business books on the nightstand so she picked one. Two pages in and her eyes closed themselves. A touch. She was dreaming about her husband again. She missed him terribly and dreaming about him wasn't unusual. He was caressing her face, brushing away strands of her hair that had fallen on her cheek. His touch was really light almost nonexistent. She had to try really hard to actually feel it. Jenna sighed hoping she wouldn't wake up anytime soon.

"Jennifer.... Baby wake up" it was a whisper but she heard it. Why did he sound like he was..... She snapped her eyes open and there he was. "Hi"

"Here. You're here" she said touching him everywhere to make sure he was real.

"I missed you." Jeremiah told her then kissed her. Up until then Jenna was having a hard time believing he was really home but the moment his lips touched hers she flipped them over and kissed him all over his face chanting "you're here"

"Wow I should go on trips more often" he said his hands wandering down to her waist and was pleased to realize that she was only wearing his T-shirt. He slid up the bed removing his boxers until he was in a sitting position with Jenna still on top of him and thrust into her. "There. That's much better" he groaned holding her still when she would have moved.

"Jeremy" his name came out in a sigh and she started moving. Even though she was on top he still decided their pace. Slow and steady. His right hand was on her left ass cheek while his left hand on the right shoulder. He made love to her without any rush wanting to savor every moment, every feeling he had when they were together. Jenna climaxed on a sigh and as nice as it felt they both knew it wasn't enough. In one swift motion she was on her back while he was pounding into her like an animal. His movements were archaic making Jenna's toe curl. This was what she needed. Hard and fast. She needed to know that their passion was still alive. They both came hard Jenna screaming his name while Jeremiah grunted hers. He rolled to his side and pulling her back to his front he slid into her again then fell asleep.

"Morning" he grunted looking down at her face. He had woken her up again at four to make love to her before going back to sleep.

"You look tired." she observed brushing her fingers under his eyes.

"I have to get to the office." she could see how tired he really was and that just assured her that what she had done was right.

"No you don't. Delilah called and I told her to cancel all your meetings for the rest of the week. You need to rest" she had met his secretary on the one occasion she had accompanied him to the office. His secretary together with his family and her friends were the only people who knew she was his wife.

"I love you" he replied but he was already going back to sleep. She stayed in bed with him for one more hour then woke up to prepare him breakfast.

------------------------

"No I don't like it" it was the next day and they were house hunting. Yesterday they had spent the day having sex in every part of the house after Jeremiah had woken up. She found out the kitchen was the best place, with all the food there and different surfaces her husband bent her over, Jenna thought they should move their bed there.

"What don't you like you about it?"

"I don't know. It's too flashy. I mean how can we raise kids in a house full of glass doors? I want something homey. Fireplace, wooden floors, a porch, backyard you know things like that" she said hugging him. "This looks like a place a young couple would buy"

"We are young Jennifer"

"And we want children. Right?"

"Yes. As many as you can pop out"

"Do I look like a popcorn machine?" she knew he was teasing her but still childbirth has been known to be painful. So maybe two kids were enough

"No. You look like a woman ready to give her husband as many children as he wants. In fact Harry?" he called to his Realtor who was standing by his car talking on the phone. "Find us something homey with a fireplace, wooden floors, porch and a backyard."

"Okay sir. I'll make a list and send it to your secretary Delilah"

"Good. Now we are going to go back inside and look around. I might decide to invest on this property" he really wasn't going to but Harry didn't have to know that.

"The extra key is in the pot hanging by the door" Harry told them then got in his car and drove off.

Jeremiah slammed Jenna on the door the moment they got in. "You naughty boy. You're not going to buy this house. Are you?" she asked him although his attention was on her breasts.

"No" his answer was muffled by her nipple in his mouth.

--------------

"Hurry up we're going to be late" Jenna told him. They were going to his parents house for dinner. She had been freaking out for the last two weeks going through her wardrobe trying to find something presentable to wear. She didn't grow up with rich people so she didn't know what to wear.

Two months had passed since Jenna had met the twins. They talked a lot on the phone and made her feel like their big sister. Every time they wanted advice about clothes or boys they would call. Last week she and Jeremiah had traveled to Thailand for his business. When he wasn't working, they took weekend vacations in small towns where no one knew them. The news of their marriage had leaked out and now whenever Jenna went there were paparazzi following her. She had to get used it and also to the fact that she now had bodyguards. "It's for your own safety" Jeremiah had told her that.

"I'm done dressing. You're the one who is still fussing over nothing" he told her. She was in front of a mirror looking at her dress trying to find faults in it. "You look fine. Come on let's go"

"Fine? I look fine? I have to change. Jeremy I'm not trying to look fine. What if your mother doesn't like me? Or your father thinks I look fine? No. No. Give me a minute I'll just wear the pink dress" Jeremiah threw her over his shoulder and left the bedroom.

"If I let you change we'll leave tomorrow" they were already half an hour late.

"Put me down. You're flashing my ass to everyone"

"I am? It's a nice ass. Have I ever told what a nice bum you have?" he said running his hand on her thigh.

"Put me down am starting to get dizzy." they were in the parking lot.

"Here we go. Are you okay?" he asked when she staggered after he put her down.

"No. Now I feel like throwing up. Can we go back inside....."

"Not a chance. Get in before I make you Jennifer. You're not changing your clothes again" he cut her off.

Jenna sulked all the way to his parent's house and blamed him if they didn't like her. When they got there Zoe and Chloe were at the door waiting for them. "We thought you weren't coming" Chloe shrieked jumping on Jeremiah and from the way he caught her it was clear that this is how they greeted each other. Zoe hugged Jenna asking why they were late. Walking in Jenna couldn't help but look at the house. It was the kind of house she would raise her children in.

"Dad they're here" Chloe yelled still on top of Jeremiah.

"Chloe get off your brother you're not five anymore" a voice said coming from the kitchen. "Hello son" the man said removing Chloe and setting her aside so he could hug Jeremiah. Jenna could see the resemblance and decided her husband was going to age well. "And you must be Jennifer"

"Call her Jenna. Only Jere calls her Jennifer" Chloe said finally acknowledging Jenna's existence and going to hug her. Her father had to lift her again and put her behind him in order to hug Jenna too. "Dad if I'm not five anymore stop treating me like I still am" she grumbled stomping her foot.

"It's finally nice to meet you. I get why my son hid you from us. Am Daniel this lot's father" his hug took Jenna by surprise. She figured they were like that. Always welcoming and warm. For a moment she imagined what it would have been like to grow up with a father like him and the twins as her sisters.

"The pleasure is all mine Mr Maxwell"

"Call me Daniel. Mr Maxwell makes me feel old"

"You are old dad" Chloe retorted while Zoe shoved her in the ribs.

"Just act like whatever Chloe says goes in one ear and leaves in the other. You'll have a great time" Daniel told her. They all settled in the living room while both Jeremiah and his father went to fetch them drinks.

"Mom will be right down. She went to change since she spent all day in the kitchen telling dad and the cook what to do." Chloe whispered to her earning a glare from Zoe.

"She just wanted to make sure everything was perfect." Zoe protested.

"Uh huh. Anyway we've decided that you guys are going to have another wedding where we'll be bridesmaids. I know you would totally pick me as your maid of honor but I don't want Zoe to feel bad so I'll settle for bridesmaids"

"Chloe! We didn't decide anything. We agreed to ask if they could have another wedding"

"It's fine you guys. I'll ask Jeremy and see if it's okay" Jenna told them.

"Ask me what" he asked coming from the kitchen with a glass of wine and handed it to her.

"If you guys can..... "

"I'm here. Where is she?" A voice cut Chloe off. Jenna stood up facing the door where a woman walked through. It happened in slow motion for Jenna. She saw the woman's shoes, then her dress and her eyes went up until she looked into emerald green eyes that were smiling.

She was older and more refined. Her hair was short like Zoe's but straight. Even though she was sick she looked healthy with glowing skin. She was still smiling at Jenna who had gone pale. "Honey are you okay?" Jeremiah's voice sounded like it was miles away. But maybe it was because Jenna's heart was beating wildly and her ears were ringing. She couldn't breathe properly. There was no air and she was going to suffocate. She dropped the glass of wine Jeremiah had handed her and clutched to her chest.

"Jennifer what's wrong?" her husband asked again but she didn't hear him this time. She turned around and in her haste to leave bumped into a worried Zoe who stumbled falling down on the sofa to make way. She didn't stop until she reached the front door and opened it flying outside like someone being chased by hell hounds. The last thing she heard was Jeremiah calling out 'Terry's' name.
