Pit Stop

Warning: Brief mentions of death in the first paragraph and this is literally just a filler chapter. That's it!

Virgil walked into the building and the warm artificial air rushed to greet him. He felt a spirit try to grab at him, crying desperately, and felt even more pass to join his world. Deceit quickly rushed to help the scared spirit who was currently there and Virgil shut his eyes to try to block out the terrified and fearful questions of the ghost. She had been playing with her grandkids and then she felt a pain in her chest and she woke up over her body, with her son crying, her daughter in law phoning an ambulance and her grandkids wailing for her to get up. Every time he heard one of their stories, he wanted to cry. That's why Deceit and Remus were so different. Deceit seemed to have found his death to be a minor inconvenience and Remus laughed throughout the entire explanation.

The god closed his eyes tighter as he began to hear another spirit beg to talk to him, picking up his pace. He walked into something and stumbled back, eyes snapping open to see that he had just walked into Roman.

"I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-!" Virgil began, turning bright red.

"Virge, it's fine. You must be exhausted, no wonder you can hardly stand!" Laughed Roman. If this had happened in Olympus, Roman would've been shouting. He'd changed after that... incident a day or so ago. Roman pulled Virgil from his thoughts, wrapping his arm around the smaller gods' shoulders. "There, you can lean on me!"

Oh, damn, why must he smell so nice?!  "Th-Thanks... You really don't have to..."

Roman shook his head. "Nonsense, Virgil, you are really tired and it's not your fault Talyn kicked us all out of the caravan to fetch them McDonald's. Besides, Patton would kill me if he thought I didn't try to help you!"

Virgil laughed nervously, trying really hard not to fall asleep on Roman's' shoulder. He nearly failed, leaning his head against Roman's' chest as he stumbled drowsily against Roman's' steady pace. "You smell nice..." He mumbled, closing his eyes sleepily.

Roman glanced down at the other god, feeling his face go bright red. Not many of his exes had bothered to comment about the more subtle magical tributes. It was always how beautiful he looked or how strong he was. Never how his smell always adapted to a persons' favourite scent.

"What do I smell like, then?"

"Mmm..." Hummed Virgil, hardly looking up. "Like a funeral lily..."

The attractive god laughed lightly. "You like the way they smell?"

"Mhm... There are loads of them in the Underworld. There's a whole field of them. It's nice. I should take someone..." Virgil said quietly. He seemed to have no filter in his sleep-deprived state and it was hilarious.

"Would you take me?" Roman asked cheekily.

Virgil shrugged. "Probably. You're nice, sometimes."

Roman gasped in mock offence, grinning despite himself. He glanced around, catching sight of a bench. "Do you want to lie down somewhere?"

"Yeah, sure..." Virgil hummed, allowing Roman to guide him along.

Patton looked over from where he'd been standing and quickly tugged at Logan's' sleeve. "Logan! Look!" He whispered. "They're getting along!"

Logan followed Patton's' gaze and caught sight of the Roman helping an exhausted Virgil onto a wooden bench. "It would seem so. Do you think Roman has caught on yet?"

Patton shook his head. "He's far too oblivious."

"And he somehow manages to be the son of Aphrodite." Sighed Logan.

"I have no idea," Agreed Patton.
