Patton's' Cousin
Logan rolled his eyes, clutching his Book loosely to his chest. "Roman, I hate you."
"What?" Laughed Roman as he joined Logan on the step up to Zeus's' temple. "I was just joking!"
"You know I don't understand jokes!" Logan sighed in loud exasperation.
Roman grinned as they walked further up the stairs. "Aw, doesn't the Book tell you about jokes?"
"Shut up, Roman."
Roman laughed again as the two reached Zeus's' temple. Zeus's' temple was their favourite place to play, as you could see almost everything in Olympus - none of them had ever been able to see the UnderWorld. Zeus's' temple had been filled over the years with possessions of ancient champions, such as pottery or armour or severed heads of Gorgons. It also housed the last portal back to Earth.
Once, Roman had tried to look through. He didn't talk about what happened after he was caught.
Logan looked around. "Patton isn't here yet. I wonder where he could currently reside."
"Ask the Book!" Roman said in a bored voice, picking up Medusa's' head as he inspected the limp snakes. The Gorgons' stare didn't affect him, Logan or Patton - it was because of their mixed power and flexible DNA from being the spawn of Gods.
"I shouldn't rely on the Book for everything- oh, nevermind." Logan glared crossly at nothing in particular as he opened the Book.
Instantly, it flicked a few pages inside and Logan read whatever it said. Roman was never too bothered with it.
"He's at his home and he's bringing someone," Logan informed his friend.
Roman paused nervously, placing down the head. He loved meeting new people but he had been chased around by a female satyr while trying to find Logan and he really hoped Patton hadn't made friends with her because it would be so awkward. "Who's he bringing?"
"I don't know."
Roman rolled his eyes. "Logan, you have the Book in your hands. Just ask."
"I've tried!" Snapped Logan in reply, and the sound of pages being flicked manually concerned Roman.
The romantic, young god walked to his intellectual friend and peered into the book.
Patton is bringing CUeFuk.
"Wha?" Frowned Roman. "Is it glitchy?"
"It's a magical object, Roman, it doesn't glitch!" Logan said curtly, flicking the page over so the book was blank before the same message appeared: Patton is bringing CUeFuk.
Roman shrugged, before suggesting cautiously, "Try to ask it another question."
A moment of silence, then the message faded to be replaced with: The person next to you is Roman; he is the illegitimate son of Aphrodite and Ares.
"It definitely seems to be working..." Logan grumbled, different messages flashing up to fast for Roman to read as Logan kept asking the Book questions. "Why can't it answer that one question?!" He shouted suddenly, making Roman jump away - Logan looked like he'd throw the Book if he didn't care for it so much.
Roman backed up, really hoping his friend wouldn't take his anger out on him, even though he never would, and walked out to the entrance of the temple. "Logan, he's arriving now!"
Logan looked up from the Book, "He is?!" He snapped, striding over crossly.
Patton was running towards the temple but was unaccompanied. He joyfully ran up the steps, pausing and turning around regularly as if waiting for something.
"Please tell me..." Roman said, "That he isn't drunk and he is turning around with a perfectly sane reason."
.:*:.
Patton arrived happily, holding his hand out which was enclosed around nothing at all. Their cheerful friends' beam turned awkward under Logans' angrily confused glare.
"Patton." Said Logan. "Please tell me how you've managed to break my Book."
"I what?" Laughed Patton, the smile returning to its' fullest extent.
Logan turned the Book to face Patton and the message said: Patton has brought CUeFuk to the Temple of Zeus in Olympus.
Pattons'mouth formed on 'O' shape as he nodded slowly. "Oh, yes, I can explain, uhm-"
"Explain." Logan ordered, his grip on the Book tightening.
"I brought my cousin!"
Roman frowned. "Your cousin?"
Patton nodded his head vigorously. "Yep! He's right here," he lifted up his hand that he'd been holding at an odd angle then frowned, "And he's gone."
"He's been gone for a while, Pat, you arrived here alone!" Roman laughed, now finding this whole situation rather funny.
Roman felt a tap on his shoulder, turned around, and shrieked, stumbling and falling to the ground as Medusa's' head hovered ahead of him, her eyes rolled back and her mouth ajar, snakes thrashing around wildly.
Logan jumped away, reaching for the obsidian dagger in his belt, but Patton just laughed.
"Patton now is not the time for laughter!" Roman yelped, hands running around his toga as he tried to find his dagger while his eyes were fixated on the severed Gorgons' head.
Logan stabbed his dagger through the forehead of Medusa and the head dropped with a scared scream.
Patton gasped, stepping over Roman as he rushed to thin air, cradling his arms around something. "Oh my, Vee, are you okay? Did Logan hurt you or something?"
"I-I'm fine, Pat..." A voice mumbled from a now materializing boy. He was looking over his pale hands and was whiter than a skeleton. His eyes were big, black and soulless, with black hair that fell over his face heavily. "Just gave me a fright..."
"Says you!" Screeched Roman, at an impressive octave, from the ground as he stared up at the boy in disbelief. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!"
Logan ignored Romans' loud shouting as he narrowed in on the boy. "How did you do that?"
"Do what?" Muttered the boy with a sharp glare.
"Turn invisible. How did you do it?"
The boy shifted nearer to Patton. "M-My ring... It can turn me invisible..."
Patton beamed at his two friends. "Guys, this is my cousin, Virgil!"
"Hi..." Virgil mumbled, trying to hide his face with his hair by dipping his head away from the others.
"Who's your parent? Posidion or Hades?" Logan asked.
Roman snorted. "It's obviously Hades, Logan, just look at him! He screams UnderWorld completely."
"That's why my Book didn't work..." Logan mused, shutting his eyes briefly as he allowed himself a small smile at the end of his confusion. "It can't reach the dead..."
"So, Virgil, that's Logan, son of Athena, and that's Roman, son of Aphrodite!" Patton explained brightly.
Virgil turned pink slightly, gaze dropping to the floor. "P-Pat, you've already told me that!"
Roman picked himself up off the ground, dusting off his light pink toga as he walked up to Virgil. He took Virgil's' face in his hand, forcing the pale boy to look at him as he leaned in intimidatingly. "Don't you ever do that to me again or I'll force you to go running back to your dad like a little pup." He sneered.
Virgil was bright red and nodded with a terrified squeak.
"Roman, you're scaring him!" Patton complained, pulling his cousin away from the taller god. "This isn't how I wanted this to go, not at all!" He sighed, crossing his arms sadly.
"Sorry, Pat... I can g-go if you want..." Virgil mumbled, twiddling his fingers quietly. "I-I'm pretty sure Persephone m-may need me to look after C-Cereberus..."
Patton patted him on the head. "Nonsense, Virgey, you don't need to go anywhere! We can all just play together and forget about this now!"
Roman scowled. "I don't want to play with him-"
"We're playing." Instructed Patton with a fatherly glare at Roman and that was the end of Romans' protests.
