deer and a stranger

Tristan placed his hand on a tree that had a gold hand print on it, it was smaller than his hand and more feminine. He stands up and with a powerful swing of his axe the tree was half way cut and with another powerful swing the tree fell to the ground with a snap.

The man put his axe away and reaches down to pick up the tree, he stops when the bandage around his arm unravels revealing old scars from the chained swords he used to carry.
"Found some." A voice from behind him said. Tristan turns his head seeing his son. "Get in the boat boy." He replied and fixed his bandage.

The son nodded and went to get into the boat. Tristan grabs hold of the tree and picks it up like it didn't weigh anything. The boy waited patiently for his father, it didn't really surprise him when he saw his father carrying the tree, he thought it was just because his father was really strong.

Tristan put the tree into the water and put a hook into it's bark than he climbed into the boat and paddled down the river. "Everything seems different." The boy said as he looked around. "Everything is different Connor can't you feel it?" Tristan asked as they got closer to their home. "Yeah I do." Connor replied.

Tristan stopped the boat and the two got out, he pulled the boat and tree onshore and pulls the hook from the tree and picked it up again carrying it a pile of tree trunks. He placed it down and put it with the others as Connor went inside. The young boy lit a candle and walked to an area of the house where his mother was kept. Connor lit more candles that were placed around her and said a little prayer for her.

Tristan stepped into the house and approached them. "She's ready." Connor said and stepped aside. Tristan carefully picked up his wife's body. "You are free now." He quietly said to her and carried her outside to the pyre he built. He set her down on it and started the fire using a rock and the blade of his axe. The flames grew higher and Connor rushed forward grabbing the knife that was left with her. The handle was hot and he dropped it immediately.

"I'm sorry." He said to his father and hung his head in shame his blondish brown hair covering his face. Tristan got down on one knee, picked up some snow and gently opened his son's hand and put the snow into his palm.
"Squeeze." He said softly. Connor did as he was told and hissed slightly in pain. Tristan picked up the knife and handed to him.
"This knife was hers, now it's yours." He stated as Connor took the knife.

"She taught you how to hunt?" He asked getting up. "Yes sir." Connor replied. "Show me." His father said. "Now?" The boy asked a little confused. "Now." Tristan replied and followed his son as he went into the woods.
"What are we hunting?" Connor asked. "You are hunting deer." Tristan replied. "Okay." The boy said and looked for tracks.

As they walked a giant buck jumped out of the bushes in front of them scaring Connor. "Whoa! Found one." He stated and chased after it. "Remember boy your hunting deer not chasing it." Tristan said as he ran to catch up with his son. He catches up to him as he pulls the drawstring back on his bow. "Hold." Tristan said but it was to late. Connor lets go letting the arrow fly, the buck looked up and ran when the arrow wheezed past its head.

"What are you doing! Now his guard is up!" Tristan yells taking the bow from his son, this new side of his father scared him. "Only fire....!" He stopped and calmed down. "Only fire when I tell you." "I'm sorry." Connor replied. "Don't be sorry, be better." His father said. "Now find it." Connor reached for his bow but Tristan jerked it away. "Find it." He said sternly.

Connor found the bucks tracks and followed them and just like that the hunt was on. The duo chased the deer until it thought it got away from them. Tristan gives Connor his bow back and he pulled back the bowstring.
"Now." Tristan said and Connor fired. The arrow soared through the air and struck the mighty buck, it ran a few paces and collapses. "I got it!" Connor exclaimed excitedly as he turned to his father. "Do not loose it." Tristan reminded him and the young boy ran to the deer.

Tristan walked up to the deer as Connor stared at it. "It's.... it's still alive." He stated as the buck stared at them. Tristan pulled the knife out of it's sheath on his son's hip and placed it into the boy's hand. Connor knew what had to be done and took the knife into both hands but couldn't bring himself to do it. "I can't." He said.
Tristan put his hands over his son's and helped him end the animal's suffering. Connor leaned against the dead deer
and cried a little. Tristan raised his hand to place it on his son's shoulder but stops himself.

A large hand reaches up grabbing Connor and pulling him off the cliff. "Connor!" Tristan yelled, the hand came back up grabbing the deer and pulling it down. The god jumps down punching the creature in the face causing it to roar and drop it's stolen prey. The creature grunts and growls as it picks up a large wooden block.
"We're fighting that thing!?" Connor shouts. "We have no choice." Tristan replied grabbing his axe.

The creature caught fire and the blade of Tristan's axe coated itself with ice. "Careful boy Trolls are just as dangerous like that." Tristan said. Connor nods and fires arrows at the beast while his father hacked at its knees.
The troll roared and swung its weapon at him. Tristan dived out of the while Connor continues to fire arrows.

The troll continued to try and smash the god but he was to fast for him, soon the troll became dazed and Tristan launched himself at the beast and delivered powerful blows to it's face. The troll stumbles and falls to the ground. Tristan jumped off of it and with a swing of his axe the troll was dead.

Connor yells in anger and repeatedly stabs the dead troll.
"You think I'm scared of you! Your nothing to me!" He screamed. "Boy, boy look at me."
Tristan commanded grabbing him by the shoulders. Connor calms down and smiles a little.
"We did it." He said. "You are not yet ready." His father said. "We're going home."

"What....but I've proved to you that I'm ready." Connor said. "You are not ready." Tristan replied sternly. The two walked home but something was in their way. "Drauger!" Connor yelled.
Tristan took out his axe and starts hacking at the undead hell walkers. A Drauger rose out of the ground but it wasn't red and ash covered like the others this one was ice blue and had ice blue eyes.

Tristan swung his axe but it bounced off the Drauger. He puts his axe away and let his fists do the talking. Tristan grabs it by the arm, knees it in the chest, throws it to the ground and stomps on its head. The two make it home and Tristan collets his wife's ashes as Connor went inside still mad that he couldn't go on the their trip to the top of the mountain. Tristan gets done collecting his wife's ashes and goes inside.

"He doesn't know anything." Connor said quietly but his father could hear him. "You lost control." Tristan said and got down on one knee. "So it's not like you don't get angry during a fight." Connor stated. "You have to control your anger, come on." He said and held up his hands palms out. "You want me to hit you?" The boy asked. "I want you to try." Tristan replied.

Connor threw a punch at his father's left hand but he smacks his fist away. "Ow! Why'd you do that?" He asked. "Again." Tristan said ignoring him. Connor tries again but the same thing happens. "Cut it out." Connor says annoyed. "Again." Tristan only says. Once again the fist is smacked away. "Stop it!" Connor yells. "Again!" His father yelled back. Connor throws another punch and falls to the floor.
Tristan helped him up and him by the arm. "This journey will be difficult and you Connor are clearly not ready." He stated.

The house starts to shake as something big moved outside then the shaking stopped and what came next was a loud knock on the door. "Come on out!" A voice yelled. "I know who you are, most importantly I know what you are!" "Under the floor quick." Tristan said. "But you told me to never go down there." Connor stated. "Do it now." He said and Connor obeyed.

Tristan walked to the door and opens it, standing there was a man standing there and he had to look up a bit to look Tristan in the eyes. "Hmm I thought you'd be bigger but you're definitely the one." The man said. "What ever you seek you will not find it here." Tristan said. "Oh I think I will." The man replied and punches Tristan in the face.

"Leave....my....home." Tristan growls as his eyes turn from blue to red but he tries to calm down. "You'll have to kill me for that to happen." The man said and punches him several more times. Tristan catches his fist. "I warned you." He said and throws back his fist. "Finally." The man said and gets a knuckle sandwich which sent him summersaulting into the ground backwards.
"You did not listen." Tristan said and picked him up. "My turn." The man replied and with a powerful uppercut Tristan was sent flying over his house and into the backyard.

He rolled out of the way as the stranger superhero landed where he was just laying. He gets up and gets into a fighting stance. "Come on then." The god said, Tristan had determined that this stranger was indeed a god. Tristan hits him with a right hook, left jab and a right cross. The stranger moves away from him with unbelievable speed and ran at Tristan trying to get a hit in.
The two caused destruction as they fought, trees were knocked down and the house was half caved in. The stranger grabbed Tristan and threw him into a rock wall. "Won't talk? Maybe who ever you've got stashed in that house will." He said.

This filled Tristan with rage, his eyes turned red and with a rage filled yell he broke out of the confined space and punched the god in the face, he kept charging and slams his opponent against a tree. He punched him again and tossed him aside to pick up the fallen tree, he lifts it up and uses it as a battering ram, hitting the other god with it and kept on going. "Who is it! Who are you afraid I'll find!" The god screamed and then yelled in pain when he hit a monument made for the Gods. "Let's find out." He said and used his speed to snap the tree.

Tristan drops the tree trunk and uses his rage filled attacks to pummel the unnamed god. He threw him against the monument and kicks him when he tries to get up than he beats up the god again and brings the monument down on top of him killing him.
The god of war coughed as he slowly trudged back to his house. His body began to heal thanks to his god powers, he raised his hand and the axe flew into it.
He dragged it along the ground and fell to his knees at the door of his home and stayed there for a minute.

He forced himself to stand and went inside, he staggered a bit as he rushed to the basement door which was hidden under the carpet. Once he opened it Connor looked up at him with relief.
"I heard yelling, I thought...." He tried to say more but his father interrupted him. "Pack your things we're leaving." He said and helped his son out. The two packed what they needed and headed out thus starting a trip neither of them thought they would go on.
