Here's What We're Gonna Do...
Bailey ran back to her room, as quick as possible. She jumped back onto the bed and shook Kyle so hard he woke up immediately.
"B? What are you doing up so late?" He said, between yawns.
"Sorry, K. It's just that there's something I need to tell you and everyone else." Bailey said, clearly agitated.
"By everyone else, who do you mean?" Said Kyle, sitting up.
"Oh, y'know. Everyone who hasn't gotten into a fight today." Bailey shrugged, "now come on! I need to discuss this with you all before morning!"
She was out of the room an instant later. Kyle said nothing but reluctantly got out of bed, trudging after her.
A few minutes later...
Bailey had Kyle, Ubercorn, Tim, and Lily gathered in the living room. The four who had been woken up did not seem happy that their beauty sleep was interrupted in the middle of the night by an over agitated Bailey (to be honest, Ubercorn thought she had dropped that habit after she reached adulthood. But sadly, she hasn't).
"Bailey, what's with the late-night gathering? You know we hate to be woken up." Ubercorn said gruffly.
"I apologize about that. But the reason I gathered you here so late is because I have a plan to fix things up between the Go Jetters." Bailey answered, "and I can't do it alone; so I'm asking you to help."
Tim and Lily were suddenly ecstatics over the subject of a plan; for they always loved a good plot, and in this case, this seemed to be a fun one.
"What have you got planned?" Tim asked.
"Well," said Bailey, "there's something I need to show you first. But we gotta make sure that we're not watched."
Everyone looked around them to make sure nobody was looking. And when it was concluded that the coast was clear, Bailey gathered everyone around the coffee table, and took out the silver box from earlier.
"What's in there?" Lily asked.
Bailey said nothing but opened the box, revealing the five potions. The other gazed at the glimmering liquids with shock and wonder.
"You've taken up brewery, haven't you?" Kyle asked.
"Yep," Bailey answered, "Uncle Pat used to brew potions like these, and passed the recipe to Abigail. I called her a few months ago and asked her to copy the recipe and send it to me. She did so, and I've been working on these since Thanksgiving, hoping they'd come to good use later on. And I guess now it's time to show you what these can do."
"What do they do?" Ubercorn asked.
"That varies on the color." Bailey said, "but before I can tell you what these do, I need to tell you my plan."
"Go ahead, what is it?" Tim asked.
"Well, remember the story I read earlier?" Bailey asked.
"A Christmas Carol. Yes, we remember." Said Lily.
"What about it?" Kyle asked.
"Later in the story, Scrooge is visited by three Ghosts: the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas present, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come. Each arrive at the first and last stroke of the first hour after midnight, when the clock chimes one. Each ghost showed him a part of his life, varying on its name. Eventually, Scrooge saw how important Christmas is, and how it isn't the humbug he imagined it being. So finally, he becomes the nicest man in town."
"That's a great ending, B!" Ubercorn said, "but what does it have to do with your plan? It's not like we're gonna be role playing the story. I mean, where do we get some ghosts, or turn ourselves into some?"
"That's what these potions are for," said Bailey, returning her focus to the silver box.
"If we drink them, we'll turn into ghosts?" Kyle asked.
"Temporarily," Bailey answered, "but long enough to do our work. These potions also contain the powers of the Ghosts of the story,"
"But one question: who's who?" Lily asked.
"Easy," said Bailey, "listen carefully to me."
Taking great care, she took out the two white potions from the box and gave them to Tim and Lily.
"Tim, Lily, you will be the Ghosts of Christmas Past. You have the ability to suck people into flashbacks going as far as you wish."
The two children took the potions, smiling widely.
Bailey took out the green potion, and gave it to Kyle.
"Kyle, you will be the Ghost of Christmas Present. You have the ability to show anyone the miseries of anyone's current lives."
Kyle cast a mischievous look as he carefully took the potion.
Bailey took out the blue potion and gave it to Ubercorn, securing it in his fingerless hooves.
"Ubercorn, you will be Marley's Ghost. Don't mind the chains that'll appear later on, but it's your job to give us a good introduction."
"That, I can do." Said Ubercorn.
"As for myself," said Bailey, "I will be the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come. I have the ability to give people flash forwards as far as I need, and tell them what they did wrong." She took out the remaining potion in the box, the purple one.
"Okay, who's gonna go first?" Kyle asked.
"I read the fist visit of Marley's Ghost," Bailey answered.
"So I guess I'm fist?" Ubercorn asked.
"Bingo," said Bailey, "and you're on tonight. And don't worry, the potion will deal with the clothing part." She looked at the clock, "and it's 12:45am, so I suggest you get cracking."
Ubercorn nodded, and drank the potion.
The second he swallowed the blue liquid, blue smoke started rising around him, forming a swirl of vapor around him. Light started to come out of his body. Then, the transformation started.
Ubercorn's uniform started to become torn and ragged, looking like he ran through a forest with it. Long, metal, rusty chains started forming around his new clothing. His skin started to become faint blue and intangible. And his mane and tail started to flow randomly.
When the smoke cleared off, Ubercorn was now an exact replica of Marley's Ghost; ripped outfit, intangible and floating, chains hanging all over him, and ready to start phase one of the plan.
He was going to encounter the Go Jetters in this form, and tell them what was going to come in the next few nights.
