Chapter 26

Now, what was this chapter going to be?

*looks at notebook with the plan for the rest of this book.*

Ah, yes.

It's the one I didn't really have a good plan for.

G R E A T.

Right, which characters haven't I procrastinated by doing a picture of?

*loses any and all inspiration to draw anything*

'Cub?'

Doc stepped out of his house at last, after about an hour of watching the vexling standing alone in the middle of Boatem village, looking between something in his hand and the distant horizon.

'Oh, hey Doc. Is something wrong?'

'That's what I wanted to ask you. You've been here for ages.'

'Oh, I'm fine.' Cub quickly pocketed whatever he'd been holding. Doc looked at the pocket suspiciously.

'What was that?'

'Something you wouldn't understand.'

'Ok.' Both were quiet for a moment, but Doc spoke again. 'You can explain.'

'Not without getting upset.' Cub walked away, over to Grian's starter base where he'd been staying. Doc joined him again.

'Did you hear about... Bdubs? I was going to talk to him and found him dead.'

'Tango told me. And I told Herobrine.'

'That's brave, man. Herobrine really relied on him.'

'He was genuinely upset.'

'Really?'

Cub looked back at Doc, clearly unhappy, before opening the door of his home. There was a commotion inside.

'Look, man. I just want to relax. Alone. So... yeah...'

He disappeared. Doc caught the door just as it closed, following him in.

'CUB!' Jevin leapt up from his position, ambushing him with a hug. Pearl, False, Tango and an unconscious Etho, tied against the banister. All seemed relieved that the ex-pharaoh was alive.

'I... can you all leave? I want to be alone.'

'What happened?' Jevin stepped back. 'Cub, did Herobrine hurt you?'

'I don't want to explain now. Just leave me in peace.' He trod up the stairs to the upstairs area. None of the others followed, finally acknowledging Doc.

'Oh. You're here too.'

'Yes. But I can go.'

'Don't.'

'Cub wanted us to leave him alone. So I'm leaving him alone.'

'Fine. Then I'm coming with you. Pearl, False?'

'I'm staying with Jimmy.' Pearl decided. Doc looked over, noticing the third-lifer sitting on the ground, red eyed.

'I'll come with you.' Tango stepped forwards.

'I'll stay and make sure Herobrine doesn't bother us.' False stated. 'Good luck. And Jevin, try not to get caught.'

'I will. See you when I do.' The group left, leaving False, Jimmy and Pearl alone.

It was getting dark outside, and Jevin drew his sword. Doc glanced back at him, ensuring that he was safe. Tango walked beside them both, silent, looking around, noticing a silhouette of a person standing just outside the vexling cathedral imitation.

'Guys...' he Began nervously. 'We might be in trouble...'

Herobrine walked over, not seeming to care that Jevin was with them. Doc pulled out his trident, and Tango lit his hands on fire.

'Find where the others are hiding and give them hell.' Was all the glitch ordered.

'And why should we do what you say?' Jevin pushed his way in front of the other two.

'Because I control you.' He snapped his finger, and the slime's expression grew blank. Tango glared at him.

'What did you do to him?' The half-Blaze snarled.

'The same thing I'll do to you unless you do what I say. Now go off and kill them. Cleo will join you later.'

Jevin walked off. Tango looked over at Doc.

'So we're actually doing this?'

The creeper's eyes flashed blue, and lightning crackled around him.

'He's our leader. Why wouldn't we?'

He flew off, and with one last look back at Boatem, Tango followed.

'Hypno, you should get some rest.' Stress walked up to the black-clad hermit. It was night, and he was still standing outside, looking very nervous. 'You've been standin' there for ages. Since Jevin said he was on the other side.'

'I'm just paranoid.'

'I can tell, luv.'

Hypno didn't reply, sighing. He knew nothing was going to happen. He knew that-

Stress screamed.

Hypno turned.

Jevin stood there, a blank expression on his face, Stress's corpse in front of him. Blood covered him, but he didn't seem to care.

'No- you.'

He stumbled away, aiming an arrow. Jevin pounced, and he fired. The projectile stuck, stopped by the slime. Jevin tugged it out, discarding it and slicing. Hypno dodged, turned, and flew away.

'GET AWAY FROM ME.' He screamed, shooting again in midair. It missed, and Hypno dived down, flew under where Jevin was, and landed back on top of the building that won't be described further because I don't know my way around most of the season 8 bases. Jevin sliced again. There was a sound of panic from inside. There was more than one attacker. Hypno broke through the roof, landing inside.

The ground was literally fire. Flames were burning through the room, and Hypno was barely able to see Tango fighting Wels through the smoke. He ran forwards to help, but was held back by Jevin. He shot as he turned, hitting the slime dead-on. But he didn't fall, and no blood spilt, as the arrow lodged into his chest, protected by his sliminess. Both looked at the arrow, surprised, before Jevin yanked out the projective, stabbing at Hypno again. Fire burned up his legs, and pain shot through them.

'YOU SAID YOU WERE ON OUR SIDE STILL!'

Jevin didn't reply. The whole building creaked, before collapsing in on itself from the flames. Someone helped Hypno out, and he looked up, coughing, to see TFC.

'Wels was killed.' He explained. 'Beef's coming. Is Stress still...?'

'Stress's dead. Jevin killed him. Hypno looked back to see the slime dragging his way out of the rubble. Tango followed, looking up at the group, then back at Jevin. A death message appeared in chat.

'Doc's dead.' Beef looked down at it. Knowing they were trapped, Tango and Jevin flew away, leaving the four hermits shaken and injured, their now-shared base gone.
