The Glitch (Grian POV)

One morning, in the jungle covered land the Hermits had settled in, a small, blonde gremlin was working on a redstone project. The redstone project itself was just a simple farm, but this one particular Hermit was worried.

He was building a simple sugarcane farm, next to his grand mansion. The mansion cast a shadow over the farm, making the process of placing the materials slightly tedious as he fumbled around trying to find the correct positions.

Now, it was no secret that he was inadequate at redstone, and he messed up frequently. But usually, his errors resulted in him having to redo the redstone dust, or construct a new part of the contraption. He had never seen anything like this in one of his mishaps.

Hovering a few feet above and slightly to the left of his farm was a strange mirage. It was a vaguely transparent, blue tinted image, circular with a radius of about 3 feet. It gave of electricity sparks, charging the air around it.

Muttering to himself, he hopped off the ground, spreading his wings to investigate. He drew close, but not too close as not to harm himself. The object had a swirling center reminding him of a nether portal, but it was light blue instead of purple.

Was this simply a blip in his redstoning abilities? It didn't seem like something that would happen, but seeing as he had once transported himself and his friend several ages into the past, it could be likely. He frowned. Maybe his redstone-capable friends would know what the issue was.

Quickly, he took out his communicator, a small square device similar to a cell phone. He sent a quick message to his fellow jungle-dweller and waited for a reply. A minute later, he received word that his friend was on the way.

While the other headed over, the blonde Hermit continued to investigate the mysterious thing. He fluttered to the ground and picked up a nearby rock, tossing it at the mirage. The rock immediately god sucked up, disappearing without a trace as it passed through. He flinched, reminding himself not to get too close.

Soon, his friend arrived with a shulker box, flying in and circling down. The shulker box clearly was a redstone kit, painted red and labelled clearly. The blonde Hermit hoped it would be able to fix the slightly scary mirage.

"Hallo Grian!" his friend greeted in his signature way, smiling and waving.

Grian landed next to him. "Hey Iskall," he said back.

Iskall was a big man, broad shoulders and relatively tall. He had fluffy brown hair and a beard, with a robotic monocle over one eye. He was especially tall compared to Grian, and had to look down a bit to see him. "So what do you need help with, dude?"

Grian looked up at him. "I think I messed up some redstone pretty badly."

"What else is new?" Iskall asked teasingly.

Grian laughed, but shook his head. "I mean worse than usual. Like, 'glitch in the universe' worse than usual."

Iskall frowned. "How did you even-"

"I don't know," Grian responded. "I was hoping you would know."

"Ok, let me have a look," Iskall offered. Grian pointed up at the thing, seeing Iskall's eyes follow his finger. The taller let out a thoughtful sound. "It looks almost like a glitch..."

Grian gazed at it. Now that his friend had mentioned it, it did sort of look like a glitch, like the universe was lagging in that spot. "Yeah, you're right. And when I throw things at it, they disappear. How strange," he murmured.

Iskall looked back down. "I don't exactly know what this is. I can try to see if redstone helps, but it doesn't even look like it has something to do with the farm you're building."

"But it appeared when I was constructing it, it must just be some weird oddity," Grian insisted, flapping his wings slightly.

"I've never seen anything like this before, though. Let me look at it a bit more." Iskall launched off the ground, taking his red shulker box and flying within a few feet of the glitch.

"Iskall be careful!" Grian called. "The rock got sucked up instantly when it passed through the portal, who knows what it would do to a human!"

Iskall gave him a thumbs-up to acknowledge he had heard him before pulling some redstone dust out of the box. Grian watched as Iskall tested out a couple simple things, before floating back to the ground.

The redstoner shrugged his shoulders. "It doesn't seem to be a redstone-solvable problem, at least anything I know of."

Grian scratched his head. Iskall was one of the most redstone-adept people in the jungle. The only person he knew who was maybe more well-versed was "Mumbo. Should we ask Mumbo?"

Iskall nodded, packing up his own redstone. "If anyone around here will know what to do, it's Mumbo." It was true. Mumbo Jumbo was one of the most knowledgeable redstoners Grian had met. "I'll send him a message."
Grian sat down on one of the various chests that made up his horrendous chest monster. No matter how many times he said he was going to clean it up, the monster kept growing. Soon, the message had been sent and Mumbo was confirmed on his way.

The mustached man arrived in a 'flourish', as per usual. He clumsily stumbled to a landing after narrowly flying into a tree, smoothing his hair. He coughed. "Hi."

Grian laughed. "The spoon himself is here!" Mumbo's face flushed and he chuckled. "Mumbo, we need your help," Grian continued.

"Well, what do you need?" Mumbo asked with a smooth British accent.

"There's a glitch," Iskall put in.

Mumbo looked at him. "Excuse me? A glitch?"
"Well, we don't know what it is but it looks like a glitch in the universe," Grian clarified.

"How can there be a 'glitch' in the universe?" Mumbo asked, looking extremely confused.

"Well, anything can happen when I attempt redstone," Grian joked.

"This is redstone? I have never heard of anything like that happening with redstone," Mumbo said, a focused expression crossing his brain.

Grian watched Mumbo as he took out his own redstone supply box, a similar red color to Iskall's but with more supplies packed into it. "Where is this 'glitch?'" Mumbo asked, taking out an observer and a piston.

"Up there, near the top of the farm," Iskall said, showing Mumbo.

Mumbo flew up to check it out, shaking his head. "This isn't redstone," he called down.

Grian was confused, so very confused. Even after two professional redstoners told him otherwise, how could it not be a redstone failure? It's not like the universe was actually glitched. That didn't happen. "How?" he wondered aloud.

Iskall turned to him. "I don't know, we may have to ask Xisuma about it."

Grian opened his mouth to reply when he heard a yelp from Mumbo. Glancing up, his eyes widened. The glitch was going haywire, sending off sparks and growing into a swirling vortex. Mumbo let out a screech as a spark struck one of his wings.

He quickly flew away from the thing before landing and scrambling over to Grian. "W-what is happening with it?" he stuttered.

Grian backed up a couple steps, shocked into silence. The three watched as the glitch continued to grow and the sparks flying off of it became larger. A furious wind picked up suddenly, whistling in the trio's ears.

Grian dragged his friends behind the chest and peeked over the edge as objects started spitting out of the vortex at breakneck speeds. A small, metal object that looked like a compass. A crown. A circular, white disc. Those, among other assorted random objects, flew in every direction.

Grian felt his friends shaking next to him, ducking as a random iron sword shot like a bullet past them. Grian's eyes widened further as the vortex began heaving, seeming to come physically alive. THe color had darkened to gray, and seemed to leech the light out of the air around it.

He heard Iskall and Mumbo gasp as they saw what he did. There were people coming out of the vortex. One by one, they were tossed unceremoniously to the ground. It was a collection of strange, foreign people whom the friends had never seen before.

After five had tumbled out, landing sprawled on the ground and seemingly unconscious, the vortex rapidly diminished. The wind died down and the color returned to the sky around it. The last of the vortex disappeared like there was a thread and needle sewing up a tear in the world.

Grian shakily stood up from his hiding spot, glancing at the group of unconscious beings. He edged closer, taking in their features.

They were a mixture of relatively normal humans and strange hybrid beings. A blonde kid, no more than 16 or 17 with a red and white shirt. Another boy around the same age with a brown mod of hair and a green shirt. From there, it got weirder. There was someone who seemed to be some sort of hunter, with a camouflage green cloak, sleek green hunters clothes and dirty blonde hair. A winged man adorned in green robes. A seemingly human-pig hybrid with almost royal attire.

The five people were all lying on the ground, limbs splayed and eyes closed. None of them seemed to be threatening, until Grian stepped within three feet of the pig-hybrid.

The creature's eyes snapped open, revealing them to be icy blue. He jumped to his feet, not bothered by his injuries. Grian stumbled back as the pigman stood, looming over the small blonde. With a colder than his eyes, he asked "Who are you, where am I, and what happened?"
