A Slight Problem (Dream POV)
Dream's eyes fluttered open. The first thing he noticed was the grand, looming mansion towering over him. He could hardly comprehend the size of it as his eyes traveled over the intricate details and massive spires.
He groaned, sitting up. He was in unfamiliar territory, that was for sure. No one he knew would build a mansion that incredible, but his head pounded too much to wonder too much who did. He looked around, taking in his surroundings.
He was sitting near some sort of contraption, a farm of some sorts. All around him, people he recognized were still knocked out. He caught sight of Philza, Tommy, and Tubbo. Hearing a voice to his right, he glanced over.
"Who are you, where am I, and what happened?" Technoblade's deep voice rang clear. He was talking to an unthreatening group of three. One short blonde man in a red jumper, a man with a cyborg eye, a green t-shirt, and a brown vest, and a tall man with a moustache in a suit. One peculiar thing was that the trio all had wings, similar to Philza. Dream frowned. He had never seen anyone other than Phil with wings like that.
He had never seen any of the three before. The blonde one was cowering behind his taller friends, who were staring in silence at Technoblade. No one answered the pig hybrid's question.
Dream closed his eyes, trying to remember what happened. Images flashed across his mind as the story came back. He had been trying to glitch to Technoblade. The hybrid still owed him a favor, and he intended to hold Techno to it. But clearly, something had gone wrong. Now, somehow, along with Techno, Tommy and Tubbo and Philza were here in this new land with him.
But how had things gone wrong? And what? That never happened. Dream shook his head, rubbing his temples. As he did so, his fingers brushed across his cheek. He faltered. His mask was missing, leaving his face exposed.
Quickly, Dream stood, getting his footing easily. His sudden movement drew the attention of Technoblade and the three unknown people. "Dream!" Technoblade yelled furiously.
Dream walked over, keeping an eye out for his mask while simultaneously taking in the new people. They didn't seem threatening. Their postures were tense, but not ready to fight. More ready to run. "What is it, Technoblade?" Dream asked calmly, standing besides the pigman facing the trio.
"You have some explaining to do! Why are we here? Where is here?" Technoblade spat, turning to face Dream and paying the three others no mind.
"How about we introduce ourselves first?" Dream replied smoothly, casting a smirk at the others.
Techno grunted, muttering something before storming over to Philza. Dream watched him leave, then turned back to the new people. "Hello," he said, trying to make his voice friendly.
After a minute, the cyborg-eyed man, who seemed the most confident of the three, stepped forward. "Erm, hallo."
Dream smiled faintly at the way he said hello, with an 'ah' sound where the 'eh' sound should be. "My name is Dream. We're sorry to crash in on you like this."
Iskall blinked. "Oh, um, nice to meet you. My name's Iskall. This is Grian," he motioned to the smallest of the three. "And this is Mumbo," he said, pointing to the man in the suit. "Uh, nice to meet you?" The statement sounded more like a question.
"It's nice to meet you too," Dream said, projecting an air of confidence. "Would you mind telling me where, exactly, me and my..." he paused. Were the people he had arrived with his friends? "My acquaintances seemed to have landed?"
The man now known as Mumbo stepped up besides Iskall. "Who are you guys?" he asked, sounding a bit less scared.
"Well, I am the ruler of a land called the Dream SMP-" he was cut off by Technoblade arriving back by his side, with a now conscious Tommy, Tubbo, and Philza.
"Not for long, if I have my way," Techno butted in.
Dream sighed. "Look, I know you're into the whole anarchy thing, Techno, but could you please be quiet for a few moments so we can get back to the others? I need to know where we are so I can glitch us back."
"I want to know where we are also!" Tommy piped in with his usual loud manner. "And who built that mansion, holy shit!" Tubbo nodded vigorously in agreement. The Hermits cringed at Tommy's language but ignored it otherwise.
"Boys," Philza scolded. Tommy hmphed and fell silent.
Dream rubbed his temples. "Anyways, as I was saying before I got interrupted, I'm the ruler of a land called the Dream SMP. This is Technoblade, Philza, Tommy, and Tubbo," he said, pointing at each person in turn.
"Why are you here? How are you here?" Iskall asked, glancing at the spot the portal had been.
"I was glitching back in my land, and something went wrong," Dream said simply, as if the Hermits would know what that meant. When he saw their confused expressions, he explained more. "I was glitching, which is like teleporting, through my land. I got caught in the code along with my friends, and when it spit us out, we arrived here."
The Hermits still looked lost, but Iskall shook his head. "Whatever dude, do you know how to get home?"
"That's why I need to know where we are. If I know that, I can figure out the distance and code distance to my lands and glitch us back," Dream explained, aware he was talking to people who didn't know anything about glitching.
The blonde man, Grian, stepped forward slightly, speaking for the first time. "This is Hermitcraft." Dream looked down at him slightly, tilting his head. "We're a group of builders and redstoners, we move around a lot. This is where we settled for now," Grian explained quickly.
Dream hummed a little. He had never heard of this Hermitcraft before. "Do you know coordinates?"
Iskall pulled out a small, electronic device that Dream didn't recognize. It looked slightly like a cell phone. Iskall typed something out on the screen, before a hologram of numbers popped up. The numbers read (insert coordinates here, I'm lazy).
Dream scanned the numbers, nodding his thanks to Iskall. He looked at the three Hermits. "It was nice meeting you, but we should really get going now. Our acquaintances at home will want to know where we went." That's when he remembered something. "Oh, by the way, have you seen my mask?"
Grian frowned. "Your mask?"
"I have a ceramic mask with a smile on it," Dream said. "Did you by any chance see it flying through the portal?" He watched the Hermit's faces register.
"I saw a white disc fly out, that was probably it," Mumbo said in a smooth British accent. Dream nodded. "It went over this way." Mumbo started walking toward the edge of the jungle forest. The huntsman followed.
Mumbo stopped near a massive jungle tree, kneeling down and grabbing something. He stood and faced Dream. "It's a bit broken, sorry about that."
Dream quickly snatched the mask, heart sinking as he saw the enormous crack splitting the center of the ceramic object. Mumbo must've seen his expression. "Sorry, was it special to you?"
Dream nodded his head slightly, not looking at the moustached man. "We should get back home," he muttered, before storming off to his acquaintances. Mumbo followed him back clumsily.
"Techno, Philza, Tommy, Tubbo, come here," Dream commanded, his friendly demeanor changing quickly. The people he named glanced over. Tubbo walked over, and Tommy followed, rolling his eyes.
Technoblade crossed his arms, ignoring Dream and returning to his discussion with Philza. Dream wasn't having it. "Techno! Philza! Do you want to go back or stay here!"
Technoblade glanced over, eyes narrowing before he stormed over reluctantly. Philza shook his head and flew the short distance over, landing besides the newcomers.
Dream inhaled, collecting himself. He brought his forearm into view, turning it so that the inside of his wrist was in view. He was wearing a metal clasp the length of his forearm. Dream opened a panel, revealing a screen. He quickly entered the coordinates the Hermits had shown him on the screen, before entering the coordinate of his own homeland.
He pressed enter, waiting for the portal to appear. After a second, he frowned, pressing enter again. Nothing. He entered the coordinates in, making sure to type them in exactly correctly. No portal. His acquaintances began to grow restless, while the Hermits looked on, concerned.
"Dream?" Tubbo asked. Dream shot him a glare and he shut up.
"There should be a portal soon," Dream said, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Does it usually take this long?" Tommy spoke. Another glare from Dream. Tommy muttered something before shouting "Hey, Grain!"
Grian looked over, and Dream saw an almost annoyed expression on the small Hermits face. "My name is Grian, not 'Grain,'" Grian replied. Tommy smirked.
Dream tuned them out, focusing on his gauntlet. He fiddled with it, trying to see what was wrong without alerting the others of the problem. Eventually, he let out a grunt. "It's not working."
"Not working?" Technoblade questioned angrily. Dream nodded. Technoblade inhaled sharply, a familiar malice in his eyes. Dream laid a hand on the hilt of his sword, knowing what was coming. However, Techno seemed to collect himself, and Dream backed off.
The rest of the group had fallen silent at the sudden tension. Dream shook his head, then tore a hand through his hair and turned to them. "If it's not working, then we have no way to get home."
