Epilogue
Brian's P.O.V
Two years have gone by and I couldn't have been happier with the decision I had made a long time ago. It was early in the morning and the sun was just peeking through the shades hanging on the windows. A smile tugged at the corner of my lips as I thought over the past year, I had asked her to be mine and she had said yes. The comfortable silence hung in the air as I watched her small form rise and fall with each breath she took.
Glancing over at the clock on my nightstand I realized how late in the day it actually was, I really didn't want to wake her but at the same time, we would never do what we had planned today if I didn't. With a quiet sigh I gently shook her, she merely grumbled at me before turning over and looking up with her big brown eyes.
"What is it Brian...?" She asked in a sleepy morning voice as she stretched out and began to sit up.
"Remember that thing you wanted to do this weekend? Well we better start getting ready because it's already past nine." I said softly, her eyes widen and she shot out of bed like there was a spider crawling on her pillow.
"Brian! You should've woken me up sooner!" She called out as she had ran into her room to get ready for the day, I merely chuckled in response to that.
"Well I would've but you looked so peaceful sleeping like that..." I responded before climbing out of bed slowly and getting dressed for the day.
After she had gotten a job at the Veterinarian Clinic that Chris had recommended to her, she began to save up money. Of course with her being as stubborn as what she was, she demanded to pay at least half of the bills, I was reluctant at first but eventually gave in. I couldn't say no to her for very long when she really wanted to do something.
"Brian are you even ready yet?" She questioned while walking into the room, her small heels clicking against the wooden floor with each step she took.
"Yes...?" I lied with a chuckle as I finally rolled out of bed. Quickly throwing on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt I made my way over to her and gave her a quick kiss.
"You... Sit on the throne of lies." She smiled and then nudged me playfully while walking off, her long hair was now tied up into a bun.
"Get ready." She stated simply as she walked away, I heard the stairs creak which meant she was probably going to go make breakfast like she usually does.
I sighed softly in response as a smile tugged at the corner of my lips, she was amazing. That's all there was to say. I did as she told me to do, once I had finished getting ready I headed downstairs and made my way into the kitchen. The radio on the corner of the counter was playing her favorite station quietly. I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her waist, which caused her to jump and then laugh quietly.
"Brian you dork." She stated with a smile as she worked on making hash browns along with pancakes and some other breakfast foods.
"Yeah but I'm your dork." I replied while kissing her cheek with a chuckle.
"Yeah yeah..." She merely replied.
"Did you book the cats at the kennel?" I asked her while busying myself with loading the dishwasher with the dishes she was done using.
"Of course. I booked them until Monday since the kennel is closed on Sundays. I got everything taken care of." She replied back while turning off the stove and loading two plates up with breakfast food.
The rest of the morning was spent tidying up the house since we were leaving for the weekend, of course it was all her idea. She had wanted to get out and do something fun so she thought planning a trip to the beach would be the perfect idea for us. I wasn't one for doing stuff like that but if it made her happy I was willing to do it for the weekend, and there was still one more thing that needed to be taken care of.
"Hey, there's something I want to show you before we leave." I stated simply as finished dusting off the counters like she had asked me to do. The packing didn't need to be done since we had packed the night before.
"Sure thing." She smiled over at me, I felt a blush creep up my neck and onto my cheeks which only caused her to laugh.
"Cute Brian." She commented as she walked over to me and hugged me tightly.
"Yeah, yeah..." I muttered as I returned the hug. As soon as she pulled away I took her hand in mine and began to lead her towards the one room that had been forbidden to everyone except me.
"I think it's about time you learned what's in this room here." I said as I took out my keys and unlocked the door, swinging it open I flicked on the lights and stepped aside to let her in.
"Oh my goodness..." She breathed in surprise as she took a good look around the room. It was huge, with the typical white tile flooring and white walls. But I had made it my 'lab' so it was filled with various equipment and tools that I used to build my inventions.
"Impressed?" I asked with a hint of amusement, a quiet chuckle escaping me as I watched her walk around the room.
"More than impressed..." She responded back, amazement etched onto her features.
"Alright... Now that my secret room isn't so secret anymore... You ready to go?" I asked her.
"Yup!" She said happily as she walked over to me and grabbed a hold of my hand, she then lead me out of the room. Only stopping to let me lock it again. We then made our way outside to my car, I climbed in the passenger side while she got into the driver's side. Since she knew the route to the beach by heart we figured it'd be a good idea to let her drive.
The hours flew by once we got on the road. Not that it was a long trip, it was a three hour drive. She pulled up into a small parking lot and parked in a free space.
"Here we are!" Bonnie chirped happily from the driver's side. "Don't take anything out of the car yet, our room might not be done." She added on as she handed me my keys back and hopped out of the car. I climbed out of the car and followed her to the office, she pushed the door open which caused a bell to chime that was hanging above it.
"Anne?" She called out as she walked up to the desk. An older lady came out from somewhere in the back and came around the front, she had a big smile painted onto her features as she pulled Bonnie into a tight hug. They were roughly the same height but the lady who I'm assuming is Anne, had short blonde hair that was pulled back into a ponytail and icy blue eyes.
"It's great to see you again sweetie." Anne said enthusiastically as she pulled back from the hug. "Look at you, all grown up now." She giggled quietly before finally noticing me. "Oh! And who do we have here?" She asked as she studied me.
"Anne, this is my boyfriend Brian." Bonnie replied as she smiled.
"Oh, it's nice to meet you Brian. I'm Anne, the owner of this hotel and the apartments right next to it." Anne stated while holding out her hand for me to shake.
"And I'm Brian, Bonnie's boyfriend as you had heard." I said while shaking her hand before she gave me a brief hug. She then pulled back after a few seconds and disappeared behind the desk. She returned with a small key that had a blue tag attached to it and a tv remote. There was a number written on the blue tag to show what room we would be staying in.
"Number three like always." She said while handing Bonnie the key.
"Thank you Anne." She said while leading me out of the office and back to the car. I opened the trunk of it and grabbed our luggage while Bonnie lead the way up to the room.
Once we had made it to the top of the steps she unlocked the door and pushed the door open. It was actually really nice, the small living room floor had carpeting that went back into the hallways and rooms. The small kitchen and bathroom from what I could see had tiling.
"This is really cute actually." I commented as I walked to the back bedroom and set our luggage down in there.
"Yeah, she keeps these rooms really nice." Bonnie commented from the living room.
The rest of the day was spent on the beach until we decided to go out and get dinner. Which was a difficult task since Bonnie couldn't make up her mind and I quote "There are so many good places to eat at." But in the end we dined at a 50s style restaurant called 'Route 66' which had really good food. By the time we had gone back to our room for the evening and had fallen asleep, she had wanted me to come with her in the early hours of the morning to try and find sand dollars and starfish that had washed up. Without thinking I had agreed and was dragged out of bed by her.
Once I had fully woken up I grabbed a small box from my suitcase and shoved it into my pocket as I followed her out of the room and across the street to the beach.
"You awake back there?" She asked with a playful tone.
"As awake as I'm gonna be... it's only like two in the morning hun." I replied back as I caught up to her and held her free hand since she was holding a flashlight in the other.
We had reached the beach and began to walk in along the water's edge. We stopped occasionally when we would see a conch shell lying on the beach but most had snails in them. The ones that didn't we placed in a small sand bucket, along with various other shells. She paused when she spotted something up ahead.
"I'll be right back." She said as she walked off, I chuckled as I heard the excited squeal. "I found a sand dollar!" She exclaimed as she walked back over to me. Showing off the sand dollar.
"That's awesome." I said, starting to feel nervous as to what I was about to do.
"Are you okay Brian?" She questioned me. "You seem a bit nervous."
"Yeah... there's just something I want to ask you." I began to say as I got down on one knee and pulled out the small velvet box from my pocket. She looked down at me, shock written across her features.
"I know that you know I'm not the best at these kinds of things... But Bonnie we've been through alot these past two years, and when I asked you to be mine... I was so nervous that you were going to say no, but when you said yes I was ecstatic... I've never felt happier than I did that day. And now that we've been together for a year, and I know that most people would say that hasn't been long enough. But forgot those people, all I know is that I love you and would go any distance to make you the happiest girl alive. So... will you marry me?" I said hurriedly, my gut twisting itself into knots with how nervous I was.
Her hands were covering her mouth as tears rolled down her face. She then proceeded to tackle me into a hug.
"Yes! A thousand times yes!" She said as a quiet sob escaped her. I smiled and slipped the ring onto her finger.
"I hope those are happy tears." I teased her playfully as I kissed her softly.
"They are." She let out a quiet laugh as she wiped the tears away.
We got back up and I hugged her tightly to me. I don't know where the future will take us, and I certainly don't know what to expect but all I know is that as long as I have her by my side, we can get through any obstacle that life hurls at us.
~THE END~
