After dueling the Sledgehammer Dakota and Yuya couldn't seem to pendulum or link summon after that

One night Dakota and Yuya were dueling each other

Yuya: Here goes. I'm going to use my Stargazer Magician and Timegazer Magician to set the pendulum scale. My monsters are ready to swing into action! Snap to it, Whip Snake. Slice and Dice, Sword Fish. Turn up the heat Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. I end my turn

Dakota: My move, I draw! I use my Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon and Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon to set the pendulum scale. Come out Metalrokket, Autorokket, and Speedburst Dragon. Now I summon my loyal servant Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon! Since I have a rokket monster on the field I can summon Absorouter Dragon. My new power, become the source of my victory! Manifest, the future circuit that lights up my path. Arrowheads confirmed! The summoning conditions are at least 3 effect monsters. I set my Autorokket, Metalrokket, Speedburst, and Absorouter Dragon! My new wind pierces through the closed world! I Link Summon! Appear, Link 4! BORRELOAD DRAGON!!!

Out of nowhere Gong ran up to both of them and pulled them into a hug congratulating them that they were finally able to pendulum and link summon despite them both failing 247 times at attempting their summoning

Timeskip

While in class both Dakota and Yuya were sleeping and as Yuya woke up the teacher spoke

Teacher: Why don't you try to learn like you cousin

However as the teacher looked at Dakota he was fast asleep with his book on his face

Dakota: *snoring* my dragons will destroy you... ARRRGH

Dakota was then woken up by getting slapped by Yuzu's fan

Yuzu: Can you try to show a better example for your cousin Dakota!

Yuya: He has a point it's really not our fault when you think about it

The three of them then walked out of school and saw Allie, Tate, and Fredrick congratulating Yuya and Dakota for perfecting their summoning style

Dakota: Hey kids

Fredrick: Gong told us you finally pendulum and link summoned again

Dakota: Ha! You know I also managed to get some new ones too.

Yuya: Yeah we'll show you at the duel school

Just then six darts came flying at the two boys while three hit Yuya between his eyes Dakota caught the three heading for him

???: Impressed? I assure you that was mere child's play. I could've done it blind folded

They walked to the center duel which was completely outside while Dakota wasn't completely impressed

Fredrick: This is the coolest dueling zone I've ever saw!

Dakota: What's so cool its just an oversized duel arena

Three other guys appeared which Dakota got skeptical

Slyvio: These gents are also fans of you and your cousin. They're curious about the cards you use to Pendulum and Link summon. You wouldn't mind letting them have a look... would you?

Just then Sylvio's duel disk started beeping

Slyvio: *scoffs* That was YOUR plan, but my priorities are a little different. I plan to keep these rare cards for myself and win Dakota's cards as well.

The other three guys grabbed Yuya and the others which only made Dakota more pissed

Slyvio was about to use Timegazer Magician until he heard a voice that sent a shiver down his spine

Declan: No, It's not time for that card yet

Slyvio: Listen I don't know who you are, but don't interfere!

Declan: You will obey me

Slyvio: I summon Lightning Hoverboard! Yo aren't going to save your friends this way Dakota. In fact, you're only going to get them into deeper danger. I'll end my turn your move.

Revolver: If you insist. I draw! Heh perfect, first I'll activate from my hand Odd-Eyes Accel this spell lets me summon an Odd-Eyes monster with out tributing, so say hello to Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon! Now I'll contact fuse my Curse of Dragon and my Phantom Dragon! Mighty dragon that was cursed merge together with the dragon of the dead, and swoop down on our enemies. I Fusion Summon! Appear! Level 8! DRAKE-EYES PENDULUM DRAGON!!

Revolver: Now, Drake-Eyes attack that hoverboard!

Slyvio: 6400 LP

Revolver: Now, Drake-Eyes effect activates. When he destroys a monster I can special summon a dragon type monster back from graveyard. Welcome back Curse of Dragon. I place one card face down and end my turn.

Slyvio: My move. I set scale 1 Stargazer Magician and scale 8 Timegazer Magician, and next I'll set the pendulum scale! Pendulum summon! Monsters, emerge! Allow me to introduce Power Dart Striker, along with its colleague Rocket Dart Striker, and the most powerful of my trio Ultimate Dart Striker

Revolver: *thought* This guy really loves darts huh?

Slyvio: Ultimate Dart Striker, strike down his Curse of Dragon with Dart Destruction!

Revolver: Sorry, but my dragon's staying because I activate my trap card Negate Attack which stops your monsters attack and ends your battle phase

Sylvio: Hmph! Lucky move! I end my turn

Revolver: My move, I draw! I activate the spell card, Card of Demise

Slyvio: Card of Demise?

Revolver: Here's how it works I draw until I have 5 cards in my hand then at my 5th standby phase I discard them, but that won't be happening. I now set the pendulum scale with scale 1 Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon and scale 8 Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon. Come forth Metalrokket Dragon, Silverrokket Dragon, and Exploderokket Dragon! Prepare to see a new link monster!

Slyvio: No way!

Revolver: Arrowheads confirmed! The summoning conditions are at least 3 effect monsters. I set Metalrokket, Silverrokket, and Exploderokket Dragon with Curse of Dragon in the link markers! My gale that slices open the closed world! I Link Summon! Appear, link 4! BORRELSWORD DRAGON!!

Revolver: Now it's to use Borrelsword Dragon's effect. Once per turn I can target one attack position monster and change it to defense mode. I choose your Power Dart Striker Slyvio!

Power Dark Striker than went down in a defensive stance

Revolver: Oh and before I forget Borrelsword has an effect that allows him to attack twice each turn and you can't activate card effects to stop it. Now, Borrelsword Dragon attack his Ultimate Dart Striker and when Borrelsword Dragon attacks a monster it gains half of its attack points and your monster's attack points get reduced to half as well

Slyvio: What?!

Revolver: That's right, so Borrelsword's attack goes up to 4200 and you Striker goes down to 1200. Borrelsword Dragon attack that striker!

Slyvio: 3400 LP

Revolver: Now, Drake-Eyes attack Rocket Dart Striker with Draconic Devastation!

Slyvio: 2300 LP

Revolver: Don't forget about Drake-Eyes effect because now I can get a dragon monster from my graveyard. I bring back Metalrokket Dragon. Now Metalrokket attack Power Dart Striker!

All three of Slyvio's Strikers were destroyed and Yuya and the others were about to fall

Revolver: Borrelsword Dragon catch them now!

Revolver's dragon flew up causing Yuzu and the kids to land on its neck while it caught Yuya with its blade coming from its bottom jaw

Revolver: Now it's time for Borrelsword Dragon's second attack. Borrelsword Dragon attack Slyvio directly with BLAST DESTRUCTION!!

Slyvio: Can't we talk this over?

Revolver: No

Slyvio: 0 LP

When the duel ended Dakota was back looking like himself while Slyvio's goons were shocked as Dakota's dragons left the field, but Borrelsword stayed

Dakota: Now unless you want to meet the blade of my dragon give Yuya his cards back... NOW!

Before the others could act they got knocked out

Dakota: Okay that wasn't me

???: Let that be a lesson Dakota duels and bullies drool

Yuya: Who are you?

???: Someone who was amped by Dakota's skills

Dakota: Eh, what can I say

Yuya: So, do you study here at the Leo Institute?

???: I was considering it, but Dakota's moves changed my mind. So, Dakota I'm making you my duel guru

Dakota: So, you want me to teach you how to duel huh kid?

As Dakota and the others were leaving Leo Dakota was back in his mind scape

Dakota was snapped out of his head and turned to see Julia
