Lost King

~Deku's POV~

I was walking home after saving Kacchan from the Sludge. Feeling both angry and completely hopeless. I was the one that saved Kacchan, and yet I get scolded for it. I was the one that actually did something! So why is Katsuki getting praised for making the situation worse! If he hadn't been using his Quirk, those fires would've never happened! Half the destruction in the downtown area wouldn't have happened either! It was bulls*it! I grit my teeth in anger and kicked a rock further down the road. Suddenly, someone appeared in front of me, nearly causing me to walk right into them. I look up to see a silver haired women with cold blue eyes, a black cloak wrapped around her form. She gave me a look before nodding to me. "I deeply apologize. I should've been watching where I was walking." She said in a soft yet eerily distant voice. A chill ran up my spine. "I-its fine." I stuttered. "I should've been watching w-w-where I was g-going as well." I muttered. The women looked at me with a slightly curious yet aloof gaze. I noticed that those chill blue eyes seemed to have a pale tint to them. Almost as if she was...

"U-um...forgive me for asking, but...are you blind?" I asked. She chuckled. "My Quirk renders me blind after usage. I've grown accustomed to it. My other senses work perfectly fine without my sight however. It's of no concern to me. With sight or without, I still see farther than any human could imagine." She said in her eery soft tone. I felt another shiver run down my spine. "W-what's your name? Do you need help getting home?" I asked. She chuckled, smiling in this...creepily airy way. "I'm supposed to meet someone here. Is there anyone else around?" She asked. "N-no. Just me and you." I responded, starting to feel on edge. Something in the back of my mind was screaming at me to run from her. But something else kept me rooted in place. She hummed quietly. "You seemed frustrated about something earlier. Did something happen?" She asked. Something about the way she asked...it all just kind of caved.

I told her everything about my day, about my life even. How I was a Quirkless nobody that wanted to be a hero. How I was bullied and treated like crap just because I was different from the others and because I still wanted to be a hero. I could feel all the anger I had been previously feeling stamp out any fear that I had of this strange women. I was just....so mad! Unbridled fury creeped into my soul and seemed to fill my body. Corrupting my very heart. WHY WAS THE WORLD LIKE THIS!?

I tried to calm my breathing as the women nodded slowly. "I see. Your heart is hurting." She said. She shifted closer and lightly pressed a hand to my chest. I felt a spike of fear, but saw nothing but calm understanding in those chilly sightless eyes. "You hurt. All you want to do is help people. But they don't give you the chance to help them. I understand that." She said softly. She slowly pulled her hand away before tucking into a small bow, her hand pressed against her chest as she did so. "My name is Farsight. My Quirk allows me to see visions of future events. And ever since I was young, I had this same vision over and over. And steaming from that vision, I saw an entire future come to pass." She said. She stood up straight, her eyes narrowing. "The world is rotten. Things change but only go downhill. Heroes can't change the world anymore. At first, they did a wonderful job. But they aren't doing so anymore." She said.

Farsight smiled at me in a kind way, getting down to my level seeing how she was much taller than me. "In my visions, I meet someone here today. A male. Fourteen, maybe fifteen. He tells me how frustrated he is. How he hates how the world works. How the number one hero said that he couldn't become a hero himself. In my visions, I take that boy's hand and I help him build a kingdom. The Lost King, I give him a throne and a crown. And from there he builds his kingdom." She says. My eyes widen in wonder. Was she serious? "I give him the means. And he builds not just a kingdom....no....what I see is an empire." Farsight says. She stands slowly, holding out her hand to me. "You are the Lost King correct? You must be him. All your life you were bullied for not having a gift. But you have gifts that many others could not even begin to fathom. You must be who I see in my visions. Everything lines up. Your story is the same as his." She said. I was quiet. Could this...really be real? It...couldn't be...right? Was she really here for...for me? I thought. "I assure you. I'm here for you. That's what you're thinking right? Don't worry. We'll fix that self doubt issue." She said, giving me a reassuring smile. I backed up slightly.

"I-I'm sorry. This seems...shady..." I said. She smiled in a knowing manor. "That's fine. You can have as much time as you want to think about it. I'll be waiting in this location if you change your mind." She held out a piece of paper with a scribbled set of coordinates and an address. I hesitated before taking the paper. "I'll be waiting for you. Ah. Before I go, do you mind telling me your name? My visions don't tell me things like that. And I've been waiting for so long to talk to you." She said. I stared at Farsight. "Izuku...Izuku Midoriya." I said. She smiled widely. "I've waited so long to hear that name...I'll be waiting for you Midoriya." Suddenly the pale tint of her chilly blue eyes vanished. She blinked a little before rubbing her eyes. She stared at me, as if confused for a minute before she smiled again. "So this is what you look like..." She said. She reached over and lightly ruffled my hair. "Fluffy..." She muttered before retracting her hand. "I'll be going now Midoriya." She smiled before slowly walking away.

Once she was gone I stared at the piece of paper and pocketed it. That was...weird...but interesting at least. I thought. My thoughts continued wandering as I went home. When I arrived I said hi to mom before heading up to my bedroom. I fished out the paper Farsight had given me and punched it into a locator add on in my computer. It pulled up pictures of an old comic book store, not too far from here that nobody really frequents anymore since a newer and bigger one opened. I seriously started considering it before shaking my head. It's probably just a prank. Someone set this up just to tear me down again. I thought. But what if it's not? What if she was telling the truth? A small part of me whispered. I decided to sleep on it, knowing d*mn well that I can't think straight or logically while my head is fogged with anger. I quickly did my homework, ate dinner, and then went straight to bed.

~Time Skip~

Going to school the next day was tough. Bullying worse than normal. The only one who even remotely backed off was Kacchan. And he kept giving me dirty looks whenever he thought I wasn't looking. Everyone seemed...just angry at me for existing. Normally I can brush off what they say...but today it just cut so much deeper. What with All Might himself saying that my dream was impossible. And the bullying continued to get worse as the days went by. Off handed comments about me jumping off the roof were thrown at me daily. Something Farsight told me started resonating more and more as the days passed.

The world is rotten...

Hour by hour, minute by minute, I counted the seconds until I could get out of school. And when the time came, I rounded to the back of the school, finding where I stashed my spare black backpack instead of the yellow one I used for school. I switched the backpacks. The black one containing some spare clothes, my laptop, and chargers for my computer and phone. And with that, I went to the comic book store. And once I arrived there, I spotted Farsight. She was sitting on a bench outside the comic book store, wearing more casual clothes versus the black cloak I saw her wearing last time. Her eyes were foggy again, meaning she couldn't see. I noticed a comic book in her hands. "We meet again, Midoriya." She said, looking at me with her sightless eyes. "H-hi..." I muttered, slightly nervous. "I'm assuming you've come here under the conditions of accepting my hand." She said. I nodded, before remembering she couldn't see me. "Y-yes. I have." I said. She nodded a little herself, turning to look at the comic book in her hands, despite not being able to see it. "I love comics. Then again, I love books in general. Any kind really." She said. "I can't always read them however. Because I use my Quirk so much. I know my limits. So I'll never be permanently blind. But as said, I've grown accustomed to being sightless for long periods of time. It gets lonely, and boring." She frowns at the comic book. "I love comic books so much. But...only the ones for long ago."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, sitting next to her. "The comic books now a days, are based on real people. And yet, the villains in the modern comic book don't have the depth and backstory that original comic book villains had. Tell me, Lost King, have you ever heard of the villain named Joker?" She asked. "N-no...I haven't." I said. "The Joker was the villain to the hero Batman. It's an old comic book series from long long ago. The Joker has many different origin stories and backstories. He was insane, a character that had depth and many backstories. Batman, in contrast, was a serious, monotone Vigilante type. Not a hero by today's society, despite the fact that he saved many without causing much damage to the city he protects. And, he had no Quirk. No powers at all in fact. All he had was his intelligence. He knew how to fight and outsmart people. And he had weapons and gadgets to enhance his combat ability. But the Joker isn't the only villain he faces. More like...an arch enemy. The Joker is the one that everyone knows as an insane mastermind. And is probably the most powerful and well known, despite not having powers or Quirks." Farsight explained. I tilted my head at her. "But because Batman is a hero without powers, those comics have been banned by today's society. They say it 'encourages those without Quirks to become vigilantes'." She added. "What!? That's so...short sighted..." I said.

Farsight smiled at me, reaching out with a hand until she found my head and gently ruffled my hair like she did last time. "It is, but I've managed to collect the full series. Because older comic books like that, are not only rare to come across in today's society, but because it shows a flip side. Every hero has a villain in these books. An arch enemy that has backstory and depth. These characters are fictional, but inspirational. Powerful, but some don't even have powers. I love these comics because they show that intelligence is a super power. And whether or not you're a hero or a villain depends on how you use it." She then shrugged. "That, and I just like comic books. The ones from the past are superior in every way to the modern comic books." She said. I smiled a little. "Sounds interesting. You're gonna have to let me borrow some." I said. She nodded. "Of course. I suspect you'll enjoy them. Anyways, I'm assuming you came prepared to leave your old life behind." She said, sliding the comic book she was holding in a bag at her side. "Yes, I did." Farsight stood, offering her hand to me. "Alright. Then we should be on our way." She said.

I nodded, reaching out and taking her hand.
