Y/N's POV

I got back home from a day of school and things were rough.

Kids at school are cruel and it's been taking a toll.

I ran upstairs, collapsing on my bed thinking of the events from the day.

My best friend, James, had been trying to stick up for me and even though it was nice, it didn't change anything.

Speak of the devil, my phone started ringing. I look down to see his name. I wanted to answer but didn't want to cry, especially while on the phone with my crush.

So I denied the call.

I put my phone down, but then it vibrated. Confused now, I look down to see texts

Huh, I wonder what he has up his sleeves this time.

James' POV
I ran downstairs, meeting my sister at the bottom of the stairs.

She has her license and though I could just ask mom, I didn't want to have a full mom trying to change my idea thing. I knew what I needed.

"Hey sis, could you drive me somewhere...?" I ask, looking at her.

"Why can't mom do it?" She asks, looking confused.

"Because I want to bond with you..." I start, but can tell she's not buying it. "Fine. I wanna go to Y/N's because she seems really upset and I want to cheer her up."

"You should have started with that, get your shoes on and meet me in the car. Also, tell her it may take a minute because we are going to stop somewhere first." She says, walking out the door.

Hopefully my plan will go as well as I think.

We got to her house, and I got out of the car. I grabbed the small bag of stuff we got at the store and my phone. I quickly texted Y/N that I was here.

"Text me when you're done so I can pick you up" Louise says, as I shut the door.

I gave her the thumbs up then she drove off.

I walked up to her front door, Y/N's little sister, S/N.

"Y/N is upstairs!" She says happily, then runs back to their living room to the tv. It looked like she had Bluey on.

I go upstairs, to Y/N's room.

I knock on the door, and she just says come in. So I do.

Y/N's POV
James walked in, holding some sort of bag, who knows what he's brought at this point.

I was laying on my bed, flat on my back and lifted my neck to look at him.

"Hey" I say, trying to hide the fact I just got done crying.

"Hey Y/N" he says, walking over and sitting on the bed, next to where I lay.

"So what's up" I say, not really sure what to talk about.

"The sky" he jokes, I lightly laugh.

Before our conversation continues he lays down and hugs me, my head on his shoulder.

"I know what happens at school upset you, but I'm here now" he says, pulling me to be closer with him.

I started to cry, and he just laid with me, letting me cry it out. I guess he could tell it was a lot.

Once I finished crying. I looked at him, our eyes met.

I love looking into his eyes.

"You're beautiful," he says, getting up and grabbing the bag he had brought in earlier.

He walked back over and held it out for me to grab.

"What's this?" I ask, grabbing the back from him.

"Just open it" he says, sitting next to me.

I open the bag and it's a heart.

Wait. A. Damn. Minute.

I open the heart up, and on one side it's chocolate but on the other side it's words.

Be Mine.

I look up at him, he looks a little nervous.

"James I-" I say, not sure how to respond.

"Y/N" he starts, his face dropping, "I get it, it's fine. I can leave you alone if you want."

He stands up, looking sad.

That's not what I wanted to happen.

I grab his hand and he turns around. I pull him into a hug and he hugs me back almost immediately.

I look up at him and smile.

He brushes a piece of my hair behind my ear, whispering "can I kiss you?"

"Yes"

Then he kissed me, and it was as if sparks were going off.

Y/N's POV

I walked into school, not sure how the day would go.

Before I could get to class some girl grabbed my backpack, pulling me back.

"Where do you think you're going?" She says, then pushes me to the floor.

Before she could do what I only assume was like a tackle or something, a voice spoke up.

"Leave my girlfriend alone" it was James.

"James, you- her-...?" The girl starts.

"Yeah, Me and Y/N now leave her alone." He says, helping me up.

"But what about us?" She then says.

"There is no US, Never was and never will be. I wouldn't even touch you with a forty foot stick" he says.

We then walked off to class, arm in arm.
