Chapter 4: Cerebro

The door opened to a large room with a single walkway and a console in the center. Charles continued towards the console with Logan and Hank following, while I looked around.

"What is this place?" I ask

"It's Cerebro," Hank tells me quietly, "This is how we would locate students. You and your old teammates actually destroyed an early version of it back when we worked for the CIA."

"So that's where I've seen you before," I say, "I had a feeling you looked familiar. And yes, I do remember destroying that thing. Those were good times back in the day."

"You guys tried to start a nuclear war against the humans."

"And since when have humans done anything for me to believe otherwise?" I asked accusingly. "They never cared about me, so why should I care about them?"

Hank didn't respond as I brushed past him to catch up with Logan and Charles, who was reluctantly pulling the helmet off of the console and putting it on.

"Raven's injured, so she shouldn't be able to get too far." Hank says as he turns on the console.

The room suddenly became dark before a flash of red lights. They appeared to be images of people, and some of them flashed from red to white. They slowly started to swirl around us as we heard them. They were hurt, and they were scared. The swirls became faster and faster, and I was starting to realize something was wrong. Before I could ask, Charles let out a pained scream and the console exploded. While Hank went to check and see if he could fix it, Charles turned to leave.

"This was a mistake." he said, "rescuing Erik, coming here, this whole thing was a mistake. I'm sorry Logan, but they sent the wrong man."

"Hey!" I shouted, "We had a deal."

Charles stopped and looked over his shoulder at me. "I know you call yourself Tsunami, but what's your real name?"

"Alyssa."

"Well I'm sorry, Miss Alyssa. We won't be able to locate the man you're looking for."

"Bullshit." I try stepping forward, ready to call him out and turn on them, but Logan stops me.

"You're right," he says, approaching Charles, "about me coming back here. It was actually supposed to be you, but I was the only one who could physically make the trip. I may not know how to help you, but we need you. Look inside my head."

"No," Charles says, "you saw what I did to Cerebro. You don't want me in there."

"There's nothing you can do that hasn't already been done."

There is a long silence as I watch Charles place his hands on Logan's temples, and start looking through his mind. Whatever he saw must have been pretty brutal from the bits and pieces of comments I heard the two say.

Suddenly, the lights came back on, and Hank returned. "Power's back on." he states.

"Yes it is," Charles says. "Miss Alyssa, could you come here, please?"

"What for?" I ask

"If you still want us to help you, we'll need to know who we're looking for."

I looked over to Logan, who simply nodded as I slowly approached the telepath. He did the same thing to me as he did to Logan, and I could see the memories surfacing from my past.

~Flashback, Third Person POV~

It's in the evening, and a young Alyssa Crane is playing with her toys in the living room of her old home. A woman enters, her mother, and gently takes one from her.

"Bedtime, Alyssa. Now go get ready."

"I'm not tired, mama."

"It's getting late, and it's a big day tomorrow."

The young Alyssa reluctantly got up and went to the bathroom to start her nightly routine. When she reached for her water cup while the sink was running, she noticed something odd. The water was moving, almost as if she was pushing it away. She pulled her hand back and reached forward again, and the water did the same thing. Curious, she tried motioning it towards her, and sure enough the water stream moved with her gestures. She started to get excited and play with the stream before calling out to her mother.

"Mama! Mama! Come see this!"

"What is it, darling?" she asked, but when she saw what the little girl was doing, a horrified look formed on her face as she called for Alyssa's father. When he entered the room, he looked shocked, then scared, then angry.

"Get out." he told the little girl.

"Papa? Mama? What's wrong?" Alyssa asked, confused.

"Get out!" her father repeated with a raised voice. "I will not allow a little witch, a little freak like you to live in this house! Get out!" He chased the little girl out as she ran screaming, while her mother watched, terrified of her child's power.

The memory then shifted to when she first met Janos and joined the Hellfire Club.

"You aren't scared?" she asked him after he saw her powers for the first time.

Riptide laughs, "of course not," he says, "I have seen things like this many times before. You are not the first."

Alyssa seemed surprised by his response, as she has never heard anything like this before. "Are there others?"

Riptide nods, "There are, including me."

She started to get excited at this. "What can you do? can you show me?" she asks him.

"Not here," he says. "How about I take you to meet some of the others and then I can show you,"

"Alright," she say. Riptide then took her hand and lead her to a building a few blocks away. It looked like some fancy club or something along those lines. He lead her to a room in the back where three other people were waiting: Azazel, Emma Frost, and Sebastian Shaw.

"So, you're back." Shaw says, "and who is she?"

"I'm Alyssa,"

Emma looks at her for a moment, "She's one, too." she says.

Shaw looks at Emma, then at Alyssa. "So what exactly is your mutation?" he asks her.

"My what?" she ask, then Riptide leans close to her.

"Your powers," he whispers.

"Right," she whispers, "Hydrokinesis," she says, "water manipulation."

"I would love to see a demonstration," the man says. Riptide steps away from her and stands at the side of the room.

"Alyssa, remember asking what I could do?" he asks her. She turns to him and nods slowly. "Get ready," he says, and two small tornadoes start to form in his hands. Alyssa looks around for some water, and noticed two buckets beside her.

she created a wall of water in front of her as he flung the tornadoes at her. when they subsided, she brought down half of er wall and created a tentacle, wrapping it around him. Before he could react, she brought him to the ground. After she let him go, Shaw applauded. "Well, I believe some introductions are in order, then."

He then introduced himself, as well as Emma and Azazel and explains their powers. He then holds out his hand t her.

"Welcome to the Hellfire Club."

Once again, the memory shifted. This time it flashed to the Hellfire Club's attack on the CIA, Alyssa and Janos on the submarine, and the beach in Cuba before stopping on another memory.

Alyssa and Janos are in a small church. Janos is wearing what appears to be the same tux from when he and Alyssa first met, and Alyssa is in a white dress. Emma, Angel, and Raven are standing to the side, while Erik and Azazel are nowhere to be seen. The only other man there is one of the priests from the church.

"Alyssa," Janos says in his strong Spanish accent, "I knew you were special from the first moment we met. You were always ready to face any challenge that came our way, and have always stayed by my side. You are my one and only, and I will do everything in my power to keep you safe from harm. I love you, my Tsunami.

"Janos, you were the one to show me that there were others like us in this world. You accepted me for who I was when I thought no one would. I don't know where I would be without you, and I will love you until the end of time. You are my Riptide.

The two then pulled each other in for a kiss, and Emma and Raven applauded while Angel started cheering. When the couple broke apart, they turned to face their friends and teammates.

"Ladies," the priest addresses, "I present to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Janos Quested."

~End Flashback, Alyssa's POV~

As the memories faded, Charles pulled his hands away from me. "You've been through quite a bit," he says. "Don't worry, Mrs. Quested. We will find him."

"Thank you," I say. "But you should locate Raven first. That way, we'll know where she's headed and how much time we have."

Charles then heads back to the console and puts the helmet back on. The red images of the people reappear, and move around us more smoothly than the last time until they stop. "Raven. Stop this. Stop running" he says.

He's found her.

"Charles?" Raven's voice echoes in the room, "where are you?"

"Back at the house, where you should be. Your friend Alyssa is here, too."

"What?"

"She told us what happened. If you kill Trask, you'll create more just like him. It will not bring them back."

"I'll kill them too if I have to. He needs to pay for what he's done."

"And we can still stop him, just not this way. Please, Raven. I need you to come home."

"I'm sorry, Charles, but I know exactly what I have to do. I hope Tsunami knows that."

The lights fade, and the connection with Raven is lost.

"Where is she?" Logan asks

"She's in an airport, boarding a plane." Charles answers.

"A plane to where?"

"Washington, D.C"

"That's where Raven and I broke into Trask's office" I add, "that's how we found out what he did. What if that's not all he had there?"

"You think the guy you're looking for might be there?" Hank asks.

"I guess we'll have to see," Charles answers as Cerebro activates again and he starts another search, this time in the D.C. area. After a while, Cerebro shuts down again, and Charles removes the helmet. "I found him." he says.

"Where is he?" I ask.

"The Trask Industries research lab."

A/N: So... I updated. I'm not going to give some long excuse about what has taken so long or why it took so long, and just leave it here. Just know that I have full intentions on finishing this story.
