Commander Anne
Oh, we got trouble. Right here in Amphibia. Everything was practically destroyed. There were evil Frobos surrounding the areas. "What happened to this place?" Anne asked. "Quick! Back to Wartwood!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "I have a question." Rosalina raised her hand. "Where is Wartwood?" "It's over this way." I explained as we ran into town, which was also destroyed. "Oh, no!" Anne, Sprig, Rosalina, and I gasped. "Not here, too!" Hop Pop panicked. "Even the statue's gone." Polly added. "Guys, what is that?" Rosalina asked, pointing to a giant centipede wearing a purple collar. "Uh, nice giant centipede?" Anne questioned. The centipede growled at us right as Polly fought it off. "Now, stay down." Polly said. "Polly, look out!" Sprig and I warned. Another centipede was about to attack, but it was fried by a laser all of a sudden. The collar came off and the centipede went back underground. "What the?" I wondered as three soldiers walked up to us. "Hey, thanks. Whoever you are." The soldiers took off their helmets to reveal themselves to be Mrs Croaker, Wally, and a very buff Loggle. "Well, salt my slugs. It's you guys." Mrs Croaker said. "Croaker! Wally!" Anne exclaimed. "Loggle? Is that you?" "Yup, I've been lifting weights every single day since you've been gone." Loggle replied. "Who knew I had these kinds of gains in me all along?" "What is going on around here?" Hop Pop asked. "Loggle's buff now?" Polly asked. "Who's your friend, girls?" Wally asked. "Actually, this is Rosalina, my older sister." I explained. "She looks like a human version of Grime." Mrs Croaker said, pointing out Rosalina's heterochromia. "Is that an insult?" Rosalina asked. "I don't believe it. You're, you're back!" Sasha gasped, removing her helmet. "Sasha!" Anne and I shouted as we both hugged her. "You're alive! And in Wartwood?" Anne wondered. "What's going on? What happened?" I asked. "Follow me and I'll explain." Sasha replied, leading us to the Plantar's farm. "Wait, you brought your sister, too?" "Hi, Sasha." Rosalina greeted, pulling out her crossbow. "I'm here to help." "Has that been in your purse this entire time?" Anne asked. "Yes." She replied.
At the farm, the door was guarded by Chuck as he let us inside the house. "Chuck." Sasha greeted. "Tulips." Chuck replied. "Wait, our house is your secret hideout?" Hop Pop asked. "Only the basement." Sasha explains, revealing the tunnels we found months ago. "No way!" Sprig exclaimed. "The Plantar Family Tunnels?" "Come on." Sasha said, leading us downstairs. "Welcome to the resistance!" The entire town was down here, trying to keep their businesses thriving during this war. Grime was even training younger frogs to fight. "Alright, let's get you up to speed." Sasha said. "Marcy has been taken prisoner, but she's still alive." "Oh, thank goodness." Anne sighed with relief. "So, what happened to the town?" "What do you think? Andrias destroyed it." Sasha explains. "Now, let's get you settled." Sasha blew a horn and summoned the town. "Attention Wartwood. I'd like to introduce some new recruits." We came out of hiding, surprising the town. "Heyo!" I shouted. "Hi guys." Sprig greeted. "It's Anne, Rowena, and the Plantars!" The town cheered. "And a human Grime!" "Seriously? I'm Rosalina, Rowena's my little sister." Rosalina groaned. "The Plantars here came back to Amphibia just in time, to help us kick Andrias right in the big old tail!" Sasha exclaimed, handing Hop Pop a bag of supplies. "Here, go find yourselves a nice cave to inhabit." "I sure am gonna miss the electric toothbrush." Hop Pop sighed. "Cheer up, Hop Pop." Sprig reassured. "Maybe we can find a cave with some soft lichen to sleep on." As Rosalina and the Plantars left to find a cave, Anne and I decided to catch up with Sasha. "So, about what happened before we got zapped to Earth." Anne said. "Listen, my days of toxic manipulation are over. And with Amphibia on fire and Marcy in trouble, I thought we could all be on the same side for a change." Sasha explains. "Totally. We'll work out our own baggage later." Anne agreed as Sasha's helmet covered her head. "What's with the hat?" I asked. "Ah, the helmet of authority." Sasha replied. "Apparently, Wartwood busts this out during wartime so everyone knows who's in charge, which reminds me." She hands the helmet over to Anne. "What?" Anne wondered. "Wartwood has only been able to hold out this long because they were waiting for you, guys. You stood up for them. You protected them. It's time for you guys to lead them." Sasha explains. "I don't know. Amphibia has changed a lot since we've been gone." I said. "Should we really be the ones doing this?" "All in favor of Anne Boonchuy and Rowena Warbler as your new leaders!" Sasha shouted. The town cheered for both of us. "Wow, this is a huge honor, and also a lot of pressure." Anne said nervously as everyone cheered again. "Yeah, that's actually not helping."
Sasha took all of us to her cave, where she would create attack strategies. "I'm sure you've seen the mind control collars that Andrias has been using to control the local wildlife." Sasha said, showing us a map of Amphibia. "Well, it turns out he's making them here." "How did these things even work?" Anne asked. "It utilizes some sort of weird mushroom enzyme." Sasha explains. "Spores!" I gasped. "Gee, wonder where I've heard that one before." Sprig said sarcastically as he, Polly, Anne, and I glared at Hop Pop. "I turned you into zombies one time!" Hop Pop exclaimed. "Sis, you were a zombie?!" Rosalina asked. "Nope, just Anne, Sprig, and Polly, and the rest of the town for some reason." I replied. "The mission is simple. Destroy the factory." Sasha explains, slamming her dagger into the map. "If we're successful, it'll make a big dent in Andrias's army." "Alright, let's do it." Anne said. "Great. I'll call us a taxi app." Polly added, trying to access Anne's phone. "Polly, that's not gonna work." I explained. "Fine! I guess we'll walk!" Polly complained. "Anyone got any hand sanitizer?" Hop Pop asked. "I never noticed how dirty Amphibia was." "Don't worry, HP. I got you." Sprig replied, giving him some hand sanitizer. "Wow. Earth made you three soft." Sasha said. "Anyway, get some sleep, everyone. We leave at dawn." As the Plantars headed to their cave, Grime came into the room. "Hey, Grime." Anne greeted. "Welcome, Anne and Rowena." Grime replied. "I mean, uh, commanders." "I know." I said as we headed to the Plantars cave. "Weird, right?"
In the cave, the Plantars and Rosalina were fast asleep. But Anne and I were wide awake, and scared for the journey ahead. "Can you believe we're in charge of the rebellion?" Anne asked. "Yeah." I replied. "Pretty crazy, right?" "But, the problem is there's only one helmet. Who's gonna wear it?" Anne asked. "I think you should. I mean, you do look adorable in anything metallic, Mạntheṣ̄." I replied. "Aw, but you look beautiful in red." Anne cooed. "Babe, you're too sweet." I blushed.
The next morning, everyone met up outside for the mission. "Okay, guys." Anne said as the helmet covered her head. "Whoops. Let's go show Andrias what we're made of." "Which way, commander?" Mrs Croaker asked. "Oh, no idea." Anne replied. "Oh, didn't you take a picture of the map?" Sprig asked. "Shoot!" I groaned. "No worries. I can go back and get it." "No need." Sasha said, handing me the map. "Here's the map, Rowena, with all the important parts labeled." "Oh, thanks, Sash." I thanked, snapping a picture of the map. "But, are you sure you shouldn't be leading this?" "No way." Sasha replied. "You and Anne should be in charge. Not me." "Come on, guys. You can do this!" Sprig encouraged. "You guys seared us from Earth back to Amphibia, didn't you? Just follow your intuition." "Okay then." Anne said. "Here goes nothing!"
After a few hours, we finally reached the factory. I have to admit. I was exhausted. Anne even lost her shoe again in a patch of quicksand. "Spikes!" Rosalina gasped. "How do we get across, girls?" Loggle asked. "Yeah! What's your intuition telling you?" Wally added. Sasha pulled out a grappling hook. "Well, how about we build a bridge, out of ourselve?" Anne suggested. "Babe. What in the name of frog abuse are you talking about?" I asked. "I saw it in a movie once. All these tiny mice worked together to steal some Oregano from a French restaurant." Anne explains. "Uh, you heard your first commander, everyone." Sasha said. "Hop to it." "Alright everyone, now lean towards the canyon!" Anne ordered. The frogs got into position and leaned forward. "Nice." Sasha complimented. "Did you guys measure the width of the canyon?" "No, why?" I looked behind to see that Sprig was barely holding onto a branch. "Guys!" Sasha shouted, grabbing us. "Hang on." Sasha launched the grappling hook to the other side and we swung across. Sprig wrapped his tongue around Sasha's arm and was thrown to the factory "Anyone else think this is going poorly?" Loggle asked. "We're usually a bit more coordinated than this." Wally stated. "Okay, I think it's clear by now that we shouldn't be leading this expedition." I said. "Sasha, will you please just take command and tell us what to do?" "No! You guys need to be in charge." Sasha refused. "What do you mean? We're drowning out here, dude." Anne explains. "Do you want us to fail? Is that what this is? Some kind of new manipulation?" "No!" Sasha cried. "It's just..." "We're also usually a lot quieter than this." Wally commented as another monster came out wearing a spore collar. "Everyone, attack!" Anne shouted. "What kind of attack?" Rosalina asked. "Just whatever feels right!" I exclaimed. Everyone charged at the monster. However, it dodged everyone's attacks. Anne and I charged at the creature with our weapons, but we both were knocked down. Out of nowhere, Hop Pop screamed. "What happened?" Anne asked. "I got a grass stain on my pants!" Hop Pop cried. "Oh, I have Mrs B's stain remover pen." Sprig said. "Soak it in water first." Polly reminded before being eaten, along with the other frogs. "No! Sasha, what do we do?" I asked. "Uh, you're in charge." Sasha replied nervously. "Whatever you think is best. You've got this." "But none of us know what we're doing." Anne said. "Please, just take over." "I can't." Sasha whimpered. "Why not?" I asked. "Because the last time I was in charge, I ruined our friendship!" Sasha snapped. Anne looked at the helmet, then back at me. I nodded as we ran towards the creature. "Where are you going?" Sasha asked. "Putting my faith in a real commander!" Anne replied. "You got this, Sasha!" I shouted as Anne and I went down the creature's throat. "What the heck, Boonchuy and Warbler?!" I heard Sasha yell. "Great. Now how will we get out?" Mrs Croaker asked. All of a sudden, Sasha and Rosalina pried open the creature's mouth. "Frogs of the resistance! Execute maneuver three!" Sasha ordered. "Maneuver what?" Hop Pop asked. We all grabbed onto each other. "Now, inflate!" Rosalina called. The frogs inflated their lungs and we were spit out the mouth. "Sasha! You did it!" I cheered. "Not yet." Sasha said. "Wally, Croaker, Loggle, mirror punch!" Loggle tossed Mrs Croaker and Wally, who destroyed the collar, freeing the creature from Andrias. "So, what's the plan now?" Mrs Croaker asked, turning to me and Anne. "Don't look at us. Sasha's wearing the helmet." Anne replied. "Loggle, you're on bridge duty. Rosalina, Croaker, and Wally are lookouts. Anne, Rowena, and the Plantars, you know what to do with these." Sasha explains, handing us Boom Shrooms as we set up the factory to explode.
On the way back to the base, Anne and I had a nice conversation with Sasha. "C'mon, take the helmet back." Sasha insisted. "No way. You're clearly the better commander." Anne said. "Besides, if we shared the helmet, no one would know who to listen to." I added. "But after everything I did to you guys, I don't deserve it." Sasha sighed. "Sasha, not too long ago, you would've fought to keep the helmet. The fact that you don't want it now proves you've changed." I explained. "Yeah, maybe." Sasha said as Anne grabbed her arm. "All in favor of Sasha Waybright as your new leader!" Anne called. "Oh, yes." Mrs Croaker said. "Oh, frog. Please, Sasha!" Wally begged. "We need you!" Loggle cried. "Listen, guys. Even though I'm calling the shots, I want you to know this is a partnership." Sasha explains as Anne and I both hugged her. "Alright, you frogs, back to base." The Plantars sighed. "Looks like this is our new life now, guys." Rosalina said. "House guests to resistance grunt is a harsh transition." Hop Pop sighed. "Yup." Polly replied. "You can say that again." Sprig added. "Anne, did you lose a shoe?" Hop Pop asked. "Oh, you've got to to be kidding me!" Anne groaned.
