Regret

Adrien's POV

I saw Peggy waiting for me and I told her to follow. I knew that all the anger and rage inside of me was not to be thrown towards her as she didn't need to know what happened. Therefore, with all the strength I could master I kept quiet and bottled it up instead.

"So how was your last lesson?" Peggy asked casually her eyes looking left to right. I knew straight away it was obvious that she knew Mr. Agreste came into my class and was wondering if I got caught.

"Yeah, the last lesson was good," I said sternly.

"Ri-gh-t" Peggy said in disbelief.

"Um... did Mr. Agreste come into your class by any chance?" Peggy said keeping her eyes lowered.

I couldn't take it anymore, it was hard keeping everything to myself and the fact that I may had lost my only chance with Marilyn broke me down into hysterics.

"Oh, God Peggy. Yes, he did come into our class, but before you say anything I didn't get caught so LEAVE IT WILL YOU! Trust me I haven't ruined your chances at school! I'm just tired...so please...just please STOP TALKING!" I yelled quickening my pace, storming ahead of Peggy. I risked a quick behind to see her eyes brimming with tears.

I'm sorry Peggy I wish I could tell you, but... I just can't. I thought miserably.

The sight of litter and alcohol bottles on the street made me realise that I had entered the council estates. As soon I got older and started working I promised myself to buy a beautiful house in which my mother and sister would live in. It was a dream in which a child with no father dreamt, but it was the best one yet. I walked inside and told my sister to go home straight away.

"Tell mum I will... be back soon," I told her and with no glance back I started walking.

I hated myself for leaving Peggy on her own, although I carried on walking straight ahead not thinking of where I was going and not looking back. I knew I had to find Marilyn; she was the only person who I could be around with. She made me feel safe and important. She had helped me out and I let her down.

I stopped and leaned against a wall, drips of rain spattering on my face. I messed up so bad. The memories of her touch were strong and detailed. Oh, how I longed for her. I would do anything to whisper in her ear, hold her hand, stroke her face or save her from her clumsiness. I smiled at the thought of making her blush the image of how quick she was to help. She was my friend and I destroyed it, just like I always do.

I stayed like that for a few more minutes until the rain started to get heavier.

I should go home now. I thought miserably. Mum will be worried and I should tell Peggy the truth.

That's when I saw her, a girl with headphones walking in the rain. Her facial expression was calm, showing no hint of emotion. I wonder who she is? I thought.

My heart leaped at the sight of Marilyn and without thinking I ran towards her. I stopped abruptly thinking about what I was going to say.

What if she hates me? What if she never wants to talk to me again?

Before I could make another move or turn back, she turned around and like a hare I was spotted. Her fixed stare was pinpointed on me...

Author's Note
Wow it's been so long since I have last published! 😂

My aim is to a) Finish this fanfiction
b) make sure my "A/N" are shorter

I hope this chapter gave a good insight into Adrien's mind, emotions and how he was feeling. Plus I'm exited to see what happens next!

By the way if people think the relationship between Adrien and Marilyn is happening too quick as it is technically still the first day of school, try to be patient and all will be explained shortly.
