Chapter Thirteen: Unexpected

Some hours have passed, and Ekko already went home a few hours ago. You were still behind the bar, waiting for Vander to return. You got an uneasy feeling, and just when you wanted to leave to find Vander, Vi came into the bar. Scared, you ran up to her and got to her level. "Vi, what happened? Where is Vander?"

Vi, still in shock, said they killed Benzo and took Vander. You asked, in a serious tone, "Where?" "They took him to the old cannery next to the docks," she replied. You nodded and gave her a hug. "All right, let's go get the others. We're going to get him back." You let her go and You both walked down the stairs. You said, "We have to go. Vander was taken to the old cannery next to the docks. So pack your things; we're leaving."

Vi went to explain to Claggor and Mylo while you walked over to Powder and your son. "You two will stay here. It is too dangerous for you to come." Powder said, "But I want to help." You smiled softly. "I know you do, honey, but you are not ready for this just yet. All right?" They both nodded. You kissed their foreheads. "I love you both." You gave Powder a flare. "If they come here, run somewhere safe, light this up, and Vi and I will come to you."

They both gave a nod, understanding what they needed to do. I'll come and get you both afterward, okay? They both nodded again. You four left the last drop and arrived at the rooftop of the old cannery. You spoke, "We get Vander and we immediately get out. Understood?" They all gave you a stern nod of determination.

You found an open, broken window and jumped down inside the building, sneaking up to the platform, staying as low as possible. After some walking, you came to an intersection. You looked around the corner, seeing Vander sitting near a chair in a room. You looked around for other people but saw none. You motioned for the children to follow you. You all quickly and safely reached the room. You went to stand behind the wall and looked out for anything or anyone.

Vander looked up and grunted, "What are you doing here?" Vi spoke, "We're breaking you out." Mylo: "On it." Vander spoke, convinced, "How... how did you get in? There are guards everywhere." Vi spoke, "It was easy. We found an open window and..."  Vander, realizing his mistake, spoke in a panic, "Oh, god. You have to get out. Now."

Welcome. You furrowed your eyebrows at hearing the voice; it sounded familiar. It almost choked you up. The footsteps slowly approached. "You have my congratulations, but I'm afraid this will be a short reunion." You could believe what you heard. Silco is the only person that speaks properly; his voice was like honey to your ears when you heard it again, but he's dead, right?

You got angry. You looked at Vander; he pleaded with his eyes, like he wanted you to forgive him. You felt sick to your stomach. Why would he lie? You didn't even notice Vi walking out with Vander's gloves on, fighting the guys.

You whispered angrily, "You said he was dead." Vander was in shock, looking back and forth between you and Silco, (Y/N). I had to do something. He went off the rails." He watched as your anger rose and your heart broke. You were officially pissed off. He lied to you, and he left your son without a father for years. You spoke with venom, "You know what, Vander? Fuck you."

You glanced behind from the wall when you saw Vi being thrown to the ground. You sighed deeply and went out of your hiding spot. You walked over to Vi, grabbing her by her hood, and without any effort, you threw her in the room, closing the giant metal door.

You turn to the giant kid who stood in front of you, his body full of purple veins. It looks disturbingly painful. You took your knife out of its holster from your leg. You sighed. You charged at the giant kid. He swings his fist at you. You duck and slide under his arm. You quickly used the knife to cut into the back of the knees, and you got up, kicking him harshly into the metal door. You sheath your knife back in its holster.

Another one of his protégés, I presume. Silco's voice cut through the air like a knife. You turned around, giving him a smirk.  "No way to talk to your wife that way" He stood straight now; he looked shocked. He looked at your scared face; he spotted the rings and necklace. You still wore them after all this time.

You walked over to him and flung yourself at him in a hug, your hands clinging to his fest. "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have stopped looking for you. I shouldn't have left you on that damned bridge. You cried out. You feel him hugging you back, not wanting to ever let you go again.

The moment was short-lived by a blue explosion; both of your bodies were pushed out of the way from the balcony. You both let each other go, and you both landed in another room. When the blast caught your leg badly, leaving it open and bloody, you screamed out in pain. Silco landed beside you. He rolled over to you, and hung above you, your face full of pain. You couldn't concentrate on anything but the pain.

Silco got angry, forgetting about the pain of his own aching body. He held your face; he touched his forehead with yours. He got up and walked to the opening of the door and spoke to the creature, Kill them.

Your leg hurt badly; you didn't want to know how bad Sevika had it, and she was directly hit. You just got lucky. You needed to get up. You were trying to get up when you noticed someone small in the room walking towards you. When it came further into the light, it revealed your son. You looked stunned. "(S/N). What are you doing here?" Confusion laced your voice. "Powder and I came to help."

You sighed. You didn't want to hear the details about it yet; you were pretty pissed, but that didn't matter right now. You spoke softly to him, "Honey, can you get me something to lean on?" He looked confused as to why, until he noticed your leg. He got scared for a moment but pushed it aside to help you. He walked away, searching for something.

After a few seconds, he came back with a cane. You sighed in relief. "Thank you, honey." You used the cane to stand. Your son spoke. "Did we do that?" You smiled. "(S/N) You or Powder couldn't have known this would happen. All right, it's not your fault." He hugged you. When Silco came back into the room and noticed the scene before him, he couldn't believe his son was still alive. He thought Vander would have killed him, too.

Your son let you go and looked at Silco. You followed his gaze and turned around slowly. You spoke, "Silco, we need to get out of the building." He nodded. "Can you walk?" "Yeah, I think so." You were walking outside when you saw Powder alone in the rain and saw Silco walking over to her and kneeling in front of her. "Hello, little girl. Where is your sister?"

You walked slowly over with your son beside you. Three of Silco's workers also walked over, one holding Sevika. Powder suddenly jumped at Silco and hugged his waist, speaking, "She left me. And she's not my sister anymore." You were shocked that Vi left Powder. You saw Silco slowly embracing her. "It's okay. We'll show them. We will show them all."

The next day, you woke up without pain in your leg. You pulled back the red sheets, fearing the worst, but your leg was healed, with some obvious scarring.  Some purple hue remained in your veins, but it wasn't much. You were deep in thought, not noticing the door to your room open and close.

You feel the bed dip beside you. You look up, seeing Silco. You look at him; a large scar adorns his left side. His one beautiful green eye is now replaced by a black eye with a red iris. His once long black hair is now short and slicked back; gray hairs streak through his hair. But to you, all of that didn't matter; he was still as handsome as ever, still beautiful. You sigh sadly. Why does everyone keep dying around me?

He took your hand in his. Don't let those deaths go in vain; then fight for them. You still have me, our son, and Powder. You smiled. You're right. I am really sorry, Silco, for not searching further for you. I should have done more. You looked down, tears almost welling up. He takes your chin and makes you look at him.

Actually, I should apologize. I thought Vander killed the both of you when I tried going to your places. I didn't find anything that could lead me to you. You looked puzzled, then it dawned on you Vander took the notes you left. You spoke, "That goddamn bastard took my notes away." Silco looked surprised at your outburst, not knowing what you meant. He questions What?

You looked at him. "Vander took my notes, which I had written for you to find so you would know where I was. But that doesn't explain why you didn't go to my parents." He looked down sadly. "I tried many times to get into Piltover, but enforcers were everywhere after the incident. "I couldn't get in," you felt dumb. Now, "I'm sorry." He squeezes your hand. It's fine; you didn't know.

Where are the kids? He chuckled. "They're safe in the other room," you sighed in relief. "And Sevika, how is she doing?" He looked surprised. "You know Sevika?" You chuckled. "Of course I do. We're good friends, and she's a regular at The Last Drop. I talk to her very often." He gave you a hum. "I couldn't save her arm." You looked shocked, but you had an idea. "I'll make her a robotic arm if you'll get the stuff for me."

He smiles and chuckles, Of course, darling, you smiled, and that's when you went for the kiss. "It was soft and tender. You missed him so much you could just not do it. It felt right for the both of you as you lay your arms around his neck. Before it got any more heated, the two children came busting through the door. It scared both of you, and you both parted the kiss.

Your son came onto the bed and hugged you immediately. Powder did the same. You smiled and hugged them close. "So, what are you two doing here?" Your son spoke. "Dad didn't let us in yet, and it took too long for him to come back out. We really wanted to see you." You gave Silco a playful side-eye. "Oh, did he now?" They both nodded. You smiled; it was a deafeningly sweet moment. Maybe things won't be so bad after all.
