Chapter Thirteen: Explosion

Three years have passed since then. Vander, you, and Silco made up; it took a long time to trust him again after what happened. Your business with the Monowheel was definitely thriving. You still didn't give permission to have them in Piltover. Silco, of course, was your business partner. The academy was almost finished building in Zaun, so that's exciting.

Vander took in Violet after the bridge incident, and also took in Isha Claggor and Mylo; they're all bright kids. Benzo also took in a kid named Ekko. Your son immediately took a liking to Ekko; they're both very smart and technical kids, so he would spend most of his days with him. He sometimes went with the others, but not as much. You would take Caitlyn with you to Zaun every chance you got; she bonded most with Vi. You even think she had a crush on her. Isha was like a little sister to her, and of course, she got along fine with your son.

You sometimes helped Vander in the bar Sevika is a regular in the Last Drop. You two quickly became good friends; you liked her strong-minded personality. She became kind of a big sister to you.

You were walking on the north side of Piltover, getting some things you needed. It was a beautiful, peaceful day with nice blue skies. You saw Jace and your sister walking together. Jace has been known to your parents for years; they are his patrons, so he could do his experiments. He's also a very bright guy. You called out to your sister. Your sister looked in your direction, smiled, and waved you over.

You gave a little jog, walking beside them. Cait asked, "What are you doing here, (Y/N)?" You smiled, "I was just getting some stuff I needed from Piltover for the new academy in Zaun. Nothing major. Mind if I join you?" Jace said, "Of course. I just needed to drop this stuff off at my apartment." You nodded.

After arriving at the apartment, Cait almost dropped one of the boxes. Jace chuckled, "Careful That's your parents' money you're dropping" You all laughed a little. Jace went to unlock the door, but when he tried opening it, it didn't budge, like something was blocking it. You heard muffled speaking in the room. Jace spoke, "Hello? Is someone there?"

You had this awful feeling in the pit of your stomach that something bad was about to happen. You pushed Jace and Cait out of the way just when the explosion happened. You were a bit caught in the blast; a sharp item slashed your cheek. You lay on top of the two, protecting them. One of your legs definitely hurt a bit, but that didn't matter; you wanted to know if everyone was safe.

Are you two alright? you asked as you got off them. Caitlyn spoke worriedly, "We're fine, but what about you?" You shook your head. "Doesn't matter right now." You got off the floor, going into the room. Your heart sank at what you saw. Powder and Violet were hugging Isha, crying. Claggor and Mylo were also there in the room, shock in their expressions. You started to cry; your tears mixed with the blood from your wound.

You ran over to the girls, hugging them. Isha was such a bright little girl; she had so much potential.  The years of caring for this child, and now seeing her lying here lifeless, reminded you of Felicia. Isha got killed just because Zaun needs to do these dangerous jobs to get a crap of money, but what was worse is that your kids were on this job. You were lucky your son wasn't on this trip; heck, you never let them go on any of these.

Enforcers eventually came into the room, shocked to see the situation. It all went so fast. This was definitely the last straw; you are going to make sure this never happens again. Caitlyn and Jace eventually also came into the room Shocked expressions on there face as well Caitlyn new isha well she loved that girl like her own little sister she started to cry as well the room whas just filled with grief and crying

You wanted to go straight to the council, but you couldn't. You had to be there for the kids. You stood up, anger and sadness raging; your leg still hurt. You walked over to the two enforcers with a limp. "I want one of the councilors here, or they will be immediately informed about this situation," you said. One enforcer reached for your shoulder, saying, "Ma'am, please calm down." You slapped his hand away. "One of my children just died in this godforsaken room. So no, I'm not going to calm down."

The enforcers looked shocked. One of them spoke calmly: "Mam, please, you're injured. Please sit down while we deal with this situation." Before you could snap back, Professor Heimerdinger came running into the room, shock evident on his face. He spoke: "(Y/N), my dear, what happened? When I heard of the explosion, I came right away."

You felt half relieved seeing him here. You looked him dead in the eyes. You spoke sadness and anger still in your voice. You let everything out: something that should never have happened in the first place. One of my kids just died on some stupid-ass job so they can scrape some coins together. What's worse is kids are doing this! They paid the price today for Piltovers fucking negligence! That's what's going on! You really didn't want to yell at Heimerdinger, but your emotions are going all over the place.

Heimerdinger was very concerned with your well-being. He looked you over for a second; a deep scratch ran across your cheek, and you wouldn't stand on one of your legs. He tried to calm you down and softly spoke, "(Y/N), my dear, please calm down a bit and sit down. You don't look well."

You really didn't want to, but you saw Heimerdinger's expression saying, "Sit down." You didn't say anything further. You walked with your limp over to your kids and sat with them, hugging them close, not wanting to let them go.

After some hours passed, you were all escorted from the premises. The fact that you had to leave Isha there hurt; she was now part of the investigation. Caitlyn was escorted by Heimerdinger back to her home, and you took the four other children home. You held Powder in your arms while the others walked beside you. The walk home was devastating.

You arrived at the Last Drop and walked inside with everyone. The place was pretty packed. Vander had decided to open the Last Drop in the evenings as well. Vander stood behind the bar, and Silco sat at it. They both turned to look at who came walking in, and they both had a shocked expression; they probably already heard what had happened. You set Powder on the floor. You softly spoke to them, "Please go to your rooms." They all listened and walked to their rooms.

Vander went after the kids while you walked over to Silco, still limping a bit. Silco got out of his chair; he ran to you and hugged you. "Darling, are you alright?" You just shook your head, hugging him closer. He let go of the hug, saying, "Come."

You walked with him up the stairs. You came into the office and sat with him on the couch against the wall. He looked you over, noticing the gash on your cheek and your slight limp. He softly spoke, "Darling, what happened?" Tears streamed down your face. You choked out, "The explosion in Piltover killed Isha; I was there." Silco looked devastated. He had heard that a girl had died, but he didn't know it was one of *his* girls.

A tear escaped his eye; he was incredibly sad at what had happened. He just hugged you; he didn't know how to express his feelings. Silco was never really good at expressing his feelings, so he always showed them in his actions, and right now, this is all you both needed.

After just sitting there hugging each other, Silco let go and got up, grabbing the medical kit. He sat back down and cleaned your wound.  One hand holding your chin, you hissed at the pain. "Sorry, darling," he spoke softly. "Mmm, it's fine. I'll get it checked tomorrow." He nodded. "Good. Now, what will they do about the situation?" You sighed. "I don't know. Heimerdinger wants me in the council room tomorrow, so I have to see, but I'll do everything in my power to set things straight. Zaun is not going to suffer anymore." He smirked. "That's my girl."

The next day came quickly. You all stayed over at The Last Drop so that everyone was together. You first checked in with the doctor to fix your face; it needed a few stitches, but overall, everything was fine. The limp in your leg was just a sprain. When you arrived at the council's room, you were given a seat at the table beside Heimerdinger. Mel spoke: "Today we are discussing the tragic accident that occurred yesterday, and (Y/N) will be making a proposition today. (Y/N), if you may."

Heimerdinger noticed your anger and said, "Keep calm, dear (Y/N), and take a deep breath." You did exactly that. You calmly spoke: "What happened yesterday happens more than you think. Zaun needs to scrape for coins; children are doing these dangerous jobs because Piltover isn't taking care of Zaun." You paused for a moment, took a deep breath again, and exhaled.

You continued: "Zaun needs to be treated the same as Piltover. No more separate justice systems, no more enforcers in Zaun who mistreat and abuse adults and children, and most important, no more waste from Piltover going into Zaun. Build the bridges; you have a place for peace and unity. I want Piltover and Zaun to become united places where everyone will be treated equally."

It was quiet in the room. Salo spoke: "I have a counteroffer of sorts.  You will produce the Monowheel here in Piltover, and you get what you asked for."  "You spoke so... I'll get everything I asked for in exchange for the Monowheel being produced in Piltover?" you sounded confused. "It couldn't be that easy?" Mel spoke. "Yes, everything, no strings attached. We owe it to Zaun, if you ask me."

"You wouldn't even think about it twice. Deal," you said, determined. Your mother spoke: "Everyone in favor of Zaun and Piltover having equal rights, no more waste, peace, unity, and all of the above, for the exchange of the Monowheel being produced in Piltover?"

Your mom and Heimerdinger raised their hands first, without question; the rest soon followed. You sighed deeply, exhausted but happy that there was finally peace and unity in Zaun and Piltover. No more fights, no more innocent deaths. This was amazing, a big breakthrough after more than fourteen years. The dream finally came true. Isha's death was not in vain. Tears pricked your eyes.

Your mother spoke again: "Then it is agreed. These rules will be implemented immediately; no excuses for postponement." Your mother looked at you and mouthed, "Well done." You smiled happily at her.

When you brought the news to Zaun, everyone celebrated; a giant party went on until deep into the night. Everyone could finally be happy and live in a clean city that would be treated equally as Piltover. The sons and daughters of Zaun were finally free from it all; it felt good—no, it felt amazing.
