Chapter 9
Chapter 9
I felt fear creep up my spine as I replayed what she just said.
"She's one of the humans from the other side."
I wanted to swallow hard, but forced myself not to. If I showed any signs that I might be some sort of a threat, I have a feeling that I might not see tomorrow's light. I remained silent as I felt someone knelt beside me and poke me gently on my arm. I flinched slightly. I hate it when strangers poke me.
"Yup, definitely one of them," Hanji's voice confirmed confidently. "But, I wonder how did she get here? It's quite odd to see a human from the other side." I felt insulted. Am I, like, some sort of object to this woman?
"What do you mean by 'She's from the other side'?" Eren asked. The figure beside me sighed and stood back up.
"I'll tell you later. We need to confirm that she is alive first before we do anything else. A human from the other side is considered a threat to us. They contain a power that normal people like us don't have," Hanji said and I heard her dust off her hands. Contain power that is a threat to people? What is that supposed to mean?
"You mean, she has Titan powers LIKE ME?" Eren asked incredulously.
"Maybe," Hanji said amusingly. "I'm not sure though."
I wanted to faint. Titan powers? So, this boy, Eren, is a Titan?! Does that make all of the people in this world a Titan??!!!!!! This is crazy. No, it's nuts.
I felt myself being lifted off the floor and swung onto someone's shoulder. My head lolled to the side and the world started to spin in front of me. Before I blacked out, I heard Hanjii say one last thing,"We'll need to lock her up and not let anyone know about her until we know for sure that she is not a threat."
Then the world went blank.
---------------------------------------------
I groaned and my eyes fluttered open. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. That's when I felt something cool rub against my wrists. I held up a hand to examine what the object was. When I saw it, I felt the world tilt. It was a chain.
I gulped and set my hand down as I looked around me. It appears that I'm in some sort of dungeon, sitting on top of a bed. I wanted to cry. Never in my life have I felt so stupid. Why did you have to go outside? I scolded myself mentally. You idiot! You should of listened to your Dad!
"So, you're awake, huh?" a familiar cold voice asked from in front of me. I looked up and my eyes widened.
"Tch. You're filthy," Levi continued and eyed me as if he has never seen me before in his life. Thanks Dad. I feel so wanted right now.
"D-Da-" I was cut off when Levi held up his hand.
"My name is Levi Ackerman and I order you to call me Corporal, subject E-57. If you are to show any sort of threat, we will kill you without hesitation." Yup, I feel loved. Seriously, does my own dad not recognize me?!
"Has she woken, Levi?" a deep voice said from a location I couldn't pin point.
"Yeah, and she's annoying already," Levi replied, his eyes never wavering. I wanted to walk up to him and slap his face, but unfortunately, a wall of bars separated me from him. The bars are now my worst enemy.
A man with blonde hair and super bushy brows stepped into view and sighed.
"I suppose she hasn't even talked and you already hate her," the man said and stood next to my dad.
"Where am I?" I blurted out.
The blonde haired man smiled and replied,"Hello, subject E-57. My name is Erwin Smith and it's a pleasure to meet you. May I have your name?" My dad glared at me, but his eyes were pleading as if to say,'Don't tell him your real name! Don't let him know!' I lowered my eyes. Where doesn't Levi want Erwin to know? Is he trying to hide something?
I took a deep breath and answered,"I'm Karen. Karen... Smurf." There was silence. I felt pretty happy with my reply until the realization hit me.
"W-wait! No! My name is Karen Whipcream! Wha...?! No, it's Karen Cookies! No, Karen Sugarplum! Huh?! Why am I naming random foods?!" I screamed, trying in vain to make up some random name, but food just keeps appearing in my mind. Something's wrong with me. I need to see the therapy.
Erwin laughed heartily. Levi just glared at me, but his eyes were saying,'Thank you! You saved me there! Thanks a ton for embarrassing yourself! At least I was saved!' That's it. I need to kill that guy.
"Haha! I guess you're nervous, huh? How about this. When you're calm enough to tell me, call me over and let me know. I have a meeting right..." he looked at his clock on his arm. "...now." He rushed out of the dungeon, turning back one last time to yell over his shoulder,"Take care of her until I get back, Levi!" And then he was gone.
"Pfft," Levi spat. "This is gonna be boring. I'm stuck with a brat."
I gritted my teeth and made plans to get Levi back for humiliating myself.
Plan 1:
While Levi is sleeping, creep up to him and shave off his eyebrows.
Hm, I thought, a scary smile playing at my lips. That doesn't sound bad at all.
Plan 2:
When Levi isn't home, mess up his room.
Yes! I though evilly. I like Plan 2 as well!
"What are you smiling about, subject E-57?" Levi asked, interrupting my awesome plans. I grinned at him and said mysteriously,"Oh, just girl things. Wanna know?" I wiggled my eyebrows at him.
Levi rolled his eyes. "No, I don't want to know what a punk like you is thinking about."
I opened my mouth to reply when the dungeon door was suddenly flung open and a woman with glasses and a really creepy smile barged in.
"Hey ya!" she said happily and ran to hug Levi. "I'm here to experiment, I mean, meet our subject!" She let go of Levi and ran over to my cell. Immediately on instinct, I scooted back on my bed.
The crazy lady flashed a grin and announced,"Hi there, subject E-57! The name's Hanji! Amazing right?!" No, Hanji. More like creepy. She placed her face as close as possible to the bars and asked,"So, what's your name? Ella? Lucy? Monopoly?!" I felt a sweat drop form on the back of my head. So, I can have anime powers too, huh? Not too shabby.
I gulped and scooted back more. "Uh," I started. "My name is... Karen... Karen Smearnorv." Smearnorv?! I thought in my head. Are you kidding girl?! Well, at least it's not food this time. Hanji squealed happily and danced around in circles. Someone should take this woman to the mental hospital and then to the therapy. She needs it more then me.
Levi cleared his throat and said absent-mindly,"Stupid-glasses, just exactly are you here for?" Hanji giggled and replied,"To see Karen of course!"
Levi snorted.
"Why? She's obviously boring," Levi said emotionless. "You're wasting your time."
Hanji laughed and went over to Levi and patted his back.
"But she isn't!" she told him. "She's interesting when you look at her in a certain angle!"
I don't know where I am or what in the world is going on, but this is getting weird.
"What is going on?" I demanded. Hanji stopped laughing at looked at me.
"D-did you just... talk...?" she asked softly. I rolled my eyes.
"No," I told her. "I was trying to be a cow and mooed. Duh I talked! Now tell me. WHAT IN THE WORLD IN HAPPENING HERE?!?!?!?!?!?!!?"
"Pipe down," Levi said sternly. "Do you want the entire world to know?!"
I was getting annoyed now. "So who cares if the world knows! i just what to know what is going on here! Stop talking in codes! And stop keeping secrets away from me Dad!" I gasped and covered my mouth, but it was too late. Hanji's eyes widened.
"What..." she whispered. "...did you just say...?"
