Chapter 50
"W-Wow," I breathed. "Everything looks so beautiful from up here."
And I wasn't even lying. It actually was beautiful viewing from the roof.
The houses that still had their lights on sparkles in the distance. The city clock chimed 8 o'clock, it's sound echoing through the air.
"Yup," Noah agreed. "My father showed me this place when I first came here, the anime world. He told me that if I missed my mom, I should just look up into the sky and make a wish so that my mom can receive it back in the real world."
Noah took my hand and led me to the middle of the roof. We sat down together, his hand draped over my shoulders.
The cool night wind blew through my hair, slightly mixing it in Noah's bright yellow.
Something fluttered in my heart, something that I have never felt before, not even with Demy.
"Do you come up here often?" I asked, putting my head on Noah's shoulder.
"Yeah, I just like it up here," he replied smiling an hugged me closer. "I feel free and alive."
I watched as a bird flew across the sky and disappear into the darkness of night.
"Say, what do you really think that those wings on the Survey Corps uniform mean?" I suddenly asked. "They can't just hold one meaning. They has to represent more than Wings of Freedom."
Noah tilted his head back a little to gaze up into the sky.
"I've been thinking of the same question from when I first came here," he admitted. "I thought an thought and finally came up with one answer."
"Which is?" I asked.
"They mean light and dark. As long as there is bad, there will always be good. I think the Survey Corps already understand that Titans cannot be eliminated for all eternity," Noah said.
Wings of light and dark. The wings that actually symbolizes Equality between good and evil.
"So, we're the good and the Titans are the bad?" I asked. Noah chuckled.
"I don't know," he said. "The Titans are enemies to our eyes, but are we their enemies? We kill and slay them. That makes us the bad guys too, right?"
I scooted closer to Noah, feeling his warmness under his shirt.
"But we can think of ourselves as good guys, right?" I whispered.
"Yeah... I want to believe that I'm helping save the world, not kill and murder without a heart," Noah agreed.
"Is there an actual good and bad side in this world?" I tilted my sad up slightly, enough so that I could see Noah's expression.
"No, I don't think so," Noah replied. "There's never a good or bad side in things. There's no right or wrong during an argument. That's why I like the Survey Corps. They believe in Balance, the greatest thing in the world and also the hardest to achieve."
"Hey, Noah?" I said softly, after a moment of silence passed between us.
"Yeah?" he answered.
"What's your wish of a life time?" I asked.
"What's yours?" Noah giggled, turning my own question on me.
I smiled.
"I want to see a world of peace and harmony, where everyone is friends with each other," I said, slowly and thoughtfully. "I don't want people in the future to go through the pain that I had to go."
Noah reached down into my lap and took my hand in his.
"I'm not sure that you'll like my wish of a life time though..." he said quietly.
I laughed.
"Oh come on! I've seen enough crazy things that you do already! You can tell me anything. I won't be surprised,"I grinned at him.
Noah sighed and squeezed my hand.
"You promise?" he said. I nodded.
"I promise," I confirmed.
Noah slowly turned me so that I was buried into his chest with both of his arms around me, protectingly. I felt my heart do a flip flop.
"My wish of a life time is only three words," Noah said. "Will you listen to them?"
"Yes," I breathed, unable to say anything else.
Noah took a deep breath before whispering three small words into my ear,"I love you."
