Chapter 48
"Dark Magic: Liberator!" I yelled and multiple waves of black energy lightning shot of from the ground, but none of them hit the target in front of me.
I growled and yelled again, louder and more determined this time,"Dark Magic: LIBERATOR!"
More lightning shot out of the ground, this time the color of wilting roses. But again, none of them hit the target before me. My magic hit everything but the target.
"Calm yourself," Noah instructed. "If you get too riled up, you'll just lose focus and your shots won't be accurate."
I took a deep breath and tried again,"Dark Magic: Liberator!"
A bolt of lightning, thick and long, shot out of the ground and zoomed towards the target.
As soon as the bolt touched the board, the target shattered into a million pieces.
I did it. Finally.
I lowered my hand, my breath heavy and tired sounding.
Noah clapped and walked up to examine the target board.
"Hm, not bad," he said. "You were able to finally destroy it. That's an improvement."
"But I need to improve faster," I said. "What if something bad happens gain? I won't be able to defend everybody just like I wasn't able to last time."
"Patience," Noah said. "You need to progress one step at a time. You can't master the Art of Dark Element in just one day. Dark Magic itself is hard enough and rare. To possess it is already good enough."
"But isn't there a way to speed things up?" I asked.
Noah thought for a moment before answering slowly,"Well, there is one way, but it'll require a ton of magic. And you're a beginner. It might not suit you..."
"I don't care," I said, shaking my head. "Just tell me what it is."
Noah took in a deep breath and announced,"We'll both work together, but we'll also summon our Guardians to help us. If we summon them AND work on our magic, just keeping them out and visible will be difficult because our Guardians feed off of our magic."
"But that'll still speed things up right?" I pressed. Noah nodded.
"Yes," he said. "With our Guardians out, they'll be able to help increase our power and energy."
"Good," I said and extended out my hand. "Then let's go it."
Noah extended out his hand as well.
"Ready?" he asked.
"Ready," I confirmed.
"Serena! Show yourself!" Noah yelled.
"Niria! I summon for you!" I yelled with him.
There was a burst of black and white light and then everything died down again.
In front of us were the siblings, Niria and Serena, the Guardians of Dark and Light.
Niria looked around himself as if in a daze.
"Huh? Where am I?" he asked.
"You're here to help me train," I told him. Niria turned back to look at me, recognizing my face.
"Oh! It's you, Karen," he greeted.
"Yeah," I said. "Hello to you too."
"Serena, get ready to power up my magic," Noah commanded to Serena.
Wow, that's quick. Serena didn't even question his order as stepped behind Noah.
"Ready, Master," she announced.
Noah held up his hand to a target and yelled,"Light Magic: Lightflix!"
Serena closed her eyes and concentrated on Noah.
A blue rod appeared in Noah's hand. He flung it forward and hit the target in front him, causing the board to snap and split into two.
But it doesn't end there. As soon as the two broken pieces of the board touched the ground, they burst into white feathers that floated to the ground and shimmered away.
Noah turned to look at me with a huge grin.
"That's what a Guardian can do," he said proudly.
I was in awe. So much power just like that? God, I want to be able to do that too.
"Niria, can you help me do that too?" I tilted my head to look at him.
Niria sighed.
"I suppose I can," he finally said.
I grinned.
"Good, let's do it."
I extended out my hand just like Noah and yelled,"Dark Magic: Liberator!"
I felt a sudden surge of power in my muscles and my veins like I never felt before.
In that moment, I felt as if I could be and do anything. I was invincible. I was unstoppable.
Black lightning shot out of the ground and drilled their way towards the target, full speed ahead.
The bolts of lightning exploded the target over and over gain until nothing was left behind but a stump to show that a target was once there.
As soon as the magic faded away, I collapsed onto my knees, the energy I felt just a second ago drained away from my body.
I felt someone wrap their arms around me and pull me close.
"You okay?" Noah whispered.
I nodded. Instead of feeling sad, I felt contented.
I finally found the power to protect everyone. I can do it now. I know I can.
"I'm fine." I said and stood up, lifting Noah up with me. "You don't need to worry about me."
Noah still looked worried, but he said,"Alright. Just remember, your Guardian feeds off of your magic so be careful not to use to much energy. I was able to sustain it because I did it so many times but for someone like you, just go easy."
"Got it," I promised him. "I promise I won't be reckless."
"But that's the entire reason why I worry about you,' Noah muttered before clapping his hands together and announcing,"Okay, training's over you guys. Break time."
"But we just got here, Master," Serena whined. Noah laughed.
"I'm not telling you two to go back," Noah said with one f his mischievous grins on his face. "Do any of you like playing Hide and Seek for Break?"

I'm still crying over Demy... Why did I kill her again?
