Chapter 43

From LKT,

Lauren Kutterfly would like to announce that the A Forbidden Family One Shot Contest would begin soon. If you have any One Shots regarding A Forbidden Family, please start sending them in. Thank you for supporting LKT.

The note below is written by Lauren Kutterfly:

I'm, like, really sorry that I made some of you cried in the last chapter... NOT! Okay, just kidding.

I mean, it's okay to cry. I cried while planning it as cried again, harder, while writing it. I actually brought tissue for you guys from Walmart, but then realized(a little too late) that my readers can't use the 67 tissue boxes tat I brought. I was like,"Drats! Now what do I do with 67 tissue boxes?!"

Answer: Use them to wipe the windows and tables like Levi. COSPLAY TIME!

Anyhow, I'm STILL mystified that some of you find this book entertaining. I don't know why. Maybe it's because its something new for once instead of the same story plot over and over again that you see in other books? Maybe CUZ it has magic? Or maybe... CUZ I'M AWESOME?!(From LKT: we apologize for our leader's sudden outburst. Please forgive her).

Whatever team! On with the story! :) *please have tissues nearby just in case*

EDIT: I'm randomly updating this week instead of following the schedule. So enjoy as much as possible. (I might even finish the entire book if I try! YAY!)

Chapter 43

If it wasn't for Noah, I'ld be dead by now.

The Titan that murdered Demy turned back around and walked back to us.

But I didn't get up and start running. I remained frozen in my place, staring at Demy's form.

I couldn't hear or feel anything anymore. I just felt numb an shocked.

Demy's gone...

Demy's gone...

The Titan snatched me from my spot and lifted me up into the air, bring me closer and closer to its mouth. But I don't care anymore.

My eyes stayed trained on Demy. I didn't want to look away. If I do, Demy will disappear forever and ever from my life.

The Titan opened its mouth and was about to chomp down on my head when a blur ran up its arms and sliced its neck.

The Titan dropped me and fell to the floor dead, leaving me to free fall through the air.

But my body was still paralyzed in its form. I couldn't catch myself r stop the momentum. All I could do was watch myself tumble through the air towards my death.

Please stay alive for me...

My eyes widened.

Demy's request.

Stay alive... stay alive...

Tears formed at my eyes and time seemed to slow down.

I'm sorry... I'm sorry...

I closed my eyes and waited to feel the impact of the fall, but it never came.

Something or someone caught me in its arms and carried me bridal style as it ran.

I cracked open an eyelid and saw that it was Noah, his face slightly sweating and red.

"Demy..." I whispered, too weak to point at Demy's body. "Demy..."

Noah gritted his teeth, his eyes shining with tears that never fell from his eyes.

"I know!" he shouted, his eyes staring straight up ahead. "I SWEAR I KNOW!"

A tear escaped my eye and flowed down my cheek.

"Demy...?" I repeated. I couldn't form any other words. Just Demy.

Demy.

Demy.

Noah picked up his speed and ran full speed up ahead. I couldn't see where we were going. My eye sight was blurry and unfocused. Too many tears were sliding down my cheeks.

Noah brought us into a building and ran into a room. He set me down on the floor before running to the windows and shutting all of them and closing the curtains and door.

On the last window, he peeked out, checking to see if any Titans followed us.

Nothing.

Noah turned back and sat down beside me.

I curled into a ball and gently rocked myself back and forth.

"Demy... Demy..."

Noah looked down.

"I'm sorry," he whispered. "I couldn't save her when that Titan came. I saw it coming yet I was too slow to reach you two."

I didn't answer him.

Silence draped over us as I mourned my loss.

A shrilling cry outside startled us. Noah immediately jumped up and ran to a nearby window.

Pushing aside enough curtain length to see through a crack in the window, he peered outside and cursed.

"There's far too many Titans out there," he said, clenching his fists. "The Survey Corps alone cannot defeat so many. Plus, a lot of lives has already been lost."

I looked up from my tear stained lap and sniffled.

"W-What are we g-g-going to d-do...?" I asked, my voice cracking a little.

Noah stayed silent for a minute before letting go of the curtain.

He turned to look at me and gave me a small sad smile.

"I need to destroy them all," he said simply. I stared at him wide eyed.

"What?" I said, not sure if I heard him right.

Noah summoned his sword and said again, louder this time,"No one can defeat all of the Titans invading Wall Rose. Only I can."

I stood up.

"No!" I almost yelled. "You can't go alone! You'll get killed!"

Noah's usual smile was gone, replaced by sadness and remorse.

"I'm sorry, Karen, but that's the only way," he said.

I shook my head furiously.

"No! I don't want to lose you too!" I was screaming by now.

Noah walked over to me and paused in from of me. He pulled me in a hug and held me close.

"I'm sorry," he whispered again into my hair. "But I need to protect you and everyone else. This is the only way. Please forgive me."

Tears were streaming down my face now.

"No..." I choked, not able to form complete words. "Don't... go..."

Noah pulled back and gave me one last smile before turning around and extending out his hand.

"Light Magic: Crucio!" he yelled. The windows and walls in front of him shattered and exploded. I coughed from the dust.

Noah walked out into the open and held his sword ready at his hand.

My body was shaking.

No... no... stop him... don't let him do this...

But I was frozen yet again just like the time when Demy died.

No...

Titans began to appear, mystified by the sudden noise.

Noah held up his sword and yelled,"Come at me! All of you! I shall slay each and every one of you!"

More Titans appeared, surrounding Noah completely.

"No..." I whispered and staggered forward a step. "No..."

Noah grasped his sword with both hands and stabbed it down into the ground.

"Light Magic: SHOCK WAVE!" he yelled, his voice reaching the heavens above.

For a second, nothing happened.

Suddenly the sky burst open into purple and gray and waves of blue lightning zapped out, zapping the Titans and burning them to ashes.

I watched, shocked and surprised, as the Titans all began to die.

But that wasn't the end yet.

More lightning, purple this time, came out of the sky and zapped other places around the walls, probably other Titans within the area.

Noah yelled something again, but I couldn't hear him over all of the thunder striking the sky.

The sky suddenly exploded and turned back to its original blue. Then everything turned calm again.

I stared at the sky for a second longer, not believing what I just saw.

I looked back down ad saw that Noah was still in his position with his sword in the ground.

"Um, hey Noah," I said slowly. "What... just happened?"

Noah didn't respond. He fell to his knees and looked dizzy.

My eyes widened.

"Noah!" I screamed and ran over to him just as he collapsed onto the ground and didn't move again.
